GFS is a great source if you enjoy shopping in bulk without having to pay for a membership. The savings can be hit-or-miss though. I find some items can be a great deal here, while others are not much of a bargain.Browsing their website in advance is a big help and can assist you in deciding what are the best buys here.It is a clean and well-organized store.I've always found the staff to be pleasant and helpful.Oh, and make sure you have plenty of "freezer room" before you shop. Since prices are low and quantities are large, you can run out of space FAST!

My second trip to a Gordon Food Service store. My first was at the N. St. Pete location. It was very pleasant. The staff was polite, professional and eager to assist me. I thought I might have a similar experience in this location, but I was wrong. I had a couple of very simple questions about the rewards program and about a sign that was displayed in the store. I asked one of the cashiers who responded but didn't really answer my questions. When I tried to clarify she finally reluctantly admitted that she really didn't know the answers. She called over another member of the staff who seemed to be a bit more on top of things. Mid conversation / question she just walked away to help a customer who'd arrived after me. This was really disappointing. It's never good when someone literally turns his or her back to you. I only happened to pass by the store because I was at the DMV next door. My visit to the DMV was actually much more pleasant to my visit to Gordon's. I won't be back to this location.

GFS is like a mini Sam's Club, BJs or Costco without needing a membership. This is where many, or the majority of local restaurants order or go to for their food supplies. I have been going here since I was a little kid with my family in Michigan. The great thing about going here is if you know a place you like to eat at uses them, you can always get the food item yourself. Bad thing is if they stop carrying it and then you're left without it. LOL. Many times you'll be able to buy in bulk or items that you cannot find elsewhere, like today I bought mini hot dogs. Most places you can only find the little smokies that are little sausages vs little hot dogs. These are great for pigs in a blankets or just to make little kids (or your boyfriend) happy because they are entertained by the small hot dogs. LOL. They also have other items/brand names that I cannot find in other stores but that I am specific on.The prices here are also something to note. Like the other stores, when you buy in bulk you get better pricing but also their items that are not in bulk are generally cheaper than the regular grocery stores so if you are already here, it is worth your time to look at the other items to see where you can save yourself.

I shop here occasionally to get frozen fruit which I eat every day. They also used to have a good supply of meat but lately, the selection has been extremely limited. I'm happy with frozen blueberries and peaches as they come in huge bags for a low price. Delicious!Life is as good as it can be in these times.

GFS is the place to go for people who own restaurants or need to stock up for a big family, but don't want to commit to a big box store membershipIn my case, we come here to purchase bulk quantities of a very few specific things that we need for a large family: flour, spinach, feta cheese and potatoes. Although we also have a Costco membership, Costco unfortunately doesn't always have the specific things we're looking for. The reason for 2 stars is I find the prices and customer service here to be below average. Honestly I find them to be overpriced. For example, 10 lbs of russet potatoes are usually $5 here, when Aldi often has the same amount for $2. Besides the items I mentioned, I notice in general their prices are much higher than Costco, sams etc for most items in general. Recently I went to get flour and the kind I needed was not in the shelf. Took a while to find an associate to help, and then I could barely get their attention to request assistance. Also usually only 1 cashier working, so check out lines can get backed up quickly. Overall, I think if you frequently need to buy in bulk, you're better off to get a membership to one of the local warehouses instead of spending your $$ here.

Well, you other companies out there you know your name well maybe you should learn this name because there going to give you a run for your money!!!! It is a fantastic place to shop in bulk for food oh, and yeah party supplies and restaurant supplies and buy restaurant knives, mixing bowls and anything else a restaurant or a good stocked home kitchen could use. Guess what? No membership fee's, they accept EBT, Debit and they are priced I feel even better than those companies out there. Check this place out......you won't be disappointed. I got 5lbs of meatballs for $10, they had alot of frozen meals as well which you could always break it down into smaller microwaved containers and pull them out as needed. Its a no frills place but then the savings is greatly passed onto you.

I think my sense of humor met it's match. I needed to bag up some large blankets so they would not get moldy. I went to Gordon Food Service and told the employee that I needed really large clear trash bags, you know the kind that are big enough to put the neighbors in when they annoy you. Without missing a beat he said, "Oh no, you need to use the black bags for that." Well done Gordon's guy, well done.

I asked a friend who just happened to own a cafe about where I could get a few food tools and paper goods. She immediately told me to stop here at Gordon Food Service (GFS). I scoped it out, found exactly what I needed, called Bed, Bath & Beyond for their availability and prices. GFS had 4 times more variety and was less expensive including the normal BB&B 20% coupons. I ran into the Asst Mgr, who was wondering why I was taking photos of the place, and told him about Yelp. He then proceeded to take me around and show me that he could accommodate households as well as restaurants! Yes, there were bulk items but similar to Costco at great prices. (I had a Costco coupon book with me.) Bottom line, I had a new kitchen resource to use and abuse! Here's a statistic! Gordon Food Service ("GFS") is the largest privately held foodservice distributor in North America! This location is in Clearwater. There are two more in Tampa and Plant City!

Prices no different than the average grocery store. Open to the public gives the impression that the bulk options would be discounted !!!It works for some people but no for me - I can go up the street for better selections at the same price.

I don't know when or if Gordon merged or took over GFS, but this place use to be much better back when? I find myself walking in looking around, not the same and walking out. GFS had a better selection, and better sales all the time. Sad.
