Gonzo's Sandwich Shop

This place is great. It's nice to find a sandwich shop in Tampa that doesn't do just Cubans. Delicious.

Honestly we did not get to try your food. We made a special trip from Clearwater to try your Cuban sandwiches. (We saw an article about your restaurant on the internet and you had rave reviews!) We arrived at 4:55 pm (your hours are until 6pm) and the restaurant was closed! So disappointed. Checked, double checked the time and no one was there. We ended up getting Cubans around the corner and they were "awful", not your fault, but so disappointing!

Cuban Sandwich was really good and so delicious. Nice flavor and its freshly made sandwiches. The stuffing was so good and very flavorful. The portion size was good. Satisfying and has smooth flavor. They have other foods to to try. Great variety of flavor and quality was pleasantly good.

A friend recommended this spot to me for lunch and oh man was this a great choice! I had the meatloaf stuffed with chorizo sandwich and man did this sandwich catch me by supprise! The bread was hot pressed and the flavors from the meatloaf and the chorizo and the sauce was amazing! Eat bite was better than the last. I'm definitely coming back here and I'm trying their Pork Drizzle next!! If you are every in the neighborhood and want to cool spot to grab a sandwich....Go to Gonzo's!!!

This place is a hidden gem. I can't believe it has taken me so long to eat here. It's a quaint counter service sandwich shop. The owner and the staff were extremely nice and also very helpful. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I have had in Tampa. I had the Turkey and my friend had the pork drizzle. I will definitely be back to try the drizzle and the weather Tampa.

Everything in this place is fresh. I'm not talking about fresh purchased. I'm talking about freshly made.I'm gonzo for Gonzo's.First time I was over there today, I tried the pork drizzle. It's their version of a Cuban. I tried this based on the suggestion of the gentleman working at the front. I'm glad I did. This was the best Cuban I've ever had in my life.These guys are pros. I'm so mad at myself for not trying this place sooner.Way to go gonzos, you guys rock!!!

My home town of Charlotte has lots of things but I've been challenged to find a really good Cuban sandwich. So here I am in Tampa and while it's not Cuba, it's pretty close. My first stop after picking up the rental car was Yelp's suggestion for the best Cuban in town.I arrived at Gonzo's well after the lunch rush and was the only customer in there for a bit. I ordered my sandwich and it was brought to the table a few minutes later.This is the best Cuban I've had in a while. Ham, roast pork, mustard, pickle, Swiss cheese on a Cuban bread then grilled in a panini press. Other than the roast pork being a little "wet", it was perfectly delicious. I stopped by for lunch recently after hearing a few good recommendations. I had some hits and some misses with my order. The service was super friendly and welcoming while there. I was told to try the pork drizzle and the gentleman recommended the cheese steak. I mentioned I was pretty hungry and he said they were big sandwiches. I also went with a bowl of bean soup.The food came out quickly and the soup was the first item to hit the table. The flavor was amazing and I was really happy with the soup. Nice chunks of chorizo mixed in with the beans. The pork drizzle and cheese steak came out next. I started on the pork sandwich. Both sandwiches were medium size. The pork sandwich was highly recommended and it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The flavor combo was good, but some parts of the sandwich were dry. The cheese steak was a bit under seasoned for my taste and I had hoped for more steak. Overall, I wasn't in love with my sandwiches. The bean soup and service were excellent. Maybe I just got them on an off day. I will try some other menu items next time.

Best spot around. I get the pork drizzle whenever I'm having a bad day and it's a quick fix. Chicken and yellow rice and everything is delicious

I thought that my turkey sandwich was garbage. It was not anywhere near enough turkey on the sandwich. Had the skin and fat parts of the turkey on the sandwich. Just not a quality sandwich in my opinion.
