Amazing Southern Buffet comfort food. Was named Betty and Freddy's. A local institution. Fried chicken, fried catfish, BBQ, all the sides, plus salad bar and desert table. All you can eat, or limited trips for less money. Johnson's BBQ next door also great. You wont be disappointed, and you will be "full".

I always say since moving to Florida I can't find good food.......... Well today Mr. Fred put his hand on my cheek and said let's see if I can change yah mind. That was the most gentle pimp smack I ever received . Ok so let's start with the atmosphere. Very warm & welcoming. Family style seating which I really like because it encourages stranger to talk to one another.On the way in if you're dining alone they have some things for you to read. I grabbed the Plant city focus paper, learned so much about plant city cannot wait to revisit!! Back to Fred's. My waitress Rachel was great! Very kind and attentive. Please let her know she has a smile that can make a bad day better ! Thank youIf you got this far you're ready for my Big back report. OH MY!!! Delicious. Everything I had baked chicken thigh, fried chicken, fish baked & fried, beans, pork OH MY greens, black eyed peas, that YAM SOUFFLÉ!!! & this was just lunch and I ain't done. First time visiting. Stopped in early evening on a Sunday. No wait for my party of three. Impressive selection of food. Prices are ok although only one in my party felt hungry enough for the all you can eat option. Fried green tomatoes lacked flavor. No complaints about anything else on the menu. We didn't have any sweets. Dining room was full, it didn't seem loud. Bathroom was decent. Service was attentive. We'd return, but don't anticipate becoming a regular.

The food and service are great! Great homestyle country cooking. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable.

I've been coming to this location regularly every Sunday morning after church. This place is consistently good. The service is top-notch! This is a family owned business that's been a staple in Plant City for a long time. They serve up buffet style with many Southern favorites like veggies, meats, catfish, and mac and cheese to choose from. You always see the kids from the back bringing out more for the buffet. In the morning there's a fruit and yogurt bar. For lunch and dinner, it's a salad bar. For lunch and dinner, you get another treat, which is their desserts.The place is decent sized. But it's so popular you may need to wait outside. At times, it can get a bit loud, but it's usually a dull roar.

The variety of food is amazing. Everything is so wonderful. All you can eat buffet. Incredible southern food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fred's Southern Chicken, and I must say, the food was outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal.The star of the show, of course, was the chicken. Fred's Southern Chicken truly delivers on flavor and quality. The chicken was perfectly fried to a golden crisp on the outside while remaining juicy and tender on the inside. Each bite was a delightful blend of savory seasoning and mouthwatering goodness.In addition to the amazing chicken, the sides were equally impressive. I tried the mac and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread, and each dish was bursting with that homemade, comforting taste that only true Southern cooking can provide. My favorite was the okra and tomatoes love a good okra.However, the service could have been better. It seemed like our waiter was trying to rush us through the meal, which took away from the otherwise pleasant experience. Despite this, the delicious food made up for the lackluster service. I was skeptical of the red velvet cake but it didn't disappoint surprisingly it was really good but the sweet potato casserole was extremely sweet I ate that as my dessert,

This is an AWESOME Southern style buffet restaurant. So many delicious choices; things you don't often see like stewed okra, corn casserole and rutabagas, which were all fantastic! There are different specials for each day of the week; today was pot roast, turkey and gravy, and cornbread dressing. The fried chicken and catfish were some of the best I've ever had. They have a salad and dessert bar along with their main buffet line that is well stocked and fresh. Tonight the special dessert was banana pudding and strawberry shortcake. They are crazy busy on the weekends, but we showed up around 5:30 on Sunday and we're seated right away. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. The restaurant is decorated in a cute, farmstyle decor which is kept very clean. I wish I had pictures, but we were super hungry! We enjoyed everything we tried.
