This place is a gem that you would normally drive by because it's in the middle of Jack-shack city. It's right across from a place that's called the Playhouse theater which is an adult theater/gay bathhouse. So be aware that the location is downright terrible, because being in the middle of Drew Park is seedy business pun intended. So, I put my trust in Google to suggest someplace new for me to eat today and it brought me here.No one here speaks English so if you can't communicate with basic knowledge in Spanish it might be difficult for you to order food. Me being a huge food lover I have no issues with this, because I can order food in almost any language. One last thing to get out of the way. Not only is the location terrible but the building is a tad bit dumpy and dirty. I must say though the food shines and it came out fast plus the service was good. I got three tacos, rice, and beans for $7.99. The barbacoa meat was exquisite and Juicy. They're homemade sauces were superb. If you can get past the rough neighborhood and exterior of this place you will definitely have a meal you will enjoy.

the tacos here are to die for and the service was impeccable. In standard hole-in-the-wall fashion, the feels-like home energy was clearly there. Would be regulars if we were from the area.

Oh pilgrim, your search has ended. Long have I looked for the Mexican cuisine I came to love when I lived out west. And where else but West Tampa/ Drew Park. This area continues to amaze with the quantity of awesome eateries or just how good they all seem to be. El Diamonte excels at the food I know and love. I've past this place hundreds of times on my way to work and today we tried it for lunch. It looks like just a small shack, inside the place is good size, bigger than I thought it would be. All seven of us sat at one table and were served chips and salsa immediately. The waitress also brought two more salsas in squeeze bottles, one red (rojo) one green (verde) and both were packing some heat but not overpowering heat, great flavor. I ordered the three taco special, available with pollo, bizteca, carnitas or tongue (no thanks), with carnitas at $5.99 with rice and beans. A good menu selection is available. The food came out quickly even though there was only one waitress. Our food was brought out by the chef. What I was presented with was three lovely street type tacos full of pork, cilantro, onion and tomato. Sauced up with both hot sauces and I was in heaven. The tortillas were the freshest corn tortillas I have ever eaten. One of my guys got the Chile Relano and raved about it. Another got a burrito, it was huge, he loved it.My lunch with diet coke came to $7 and change. With $2 tip it came in under $10. And it was fabulous. El Diamonte will be placed on my "Don't Miss This Place" list. A mighty honor.Try it pilgrim, your search may end too.

Hubby likes this place so he brought me here for lunch.Typical hole in the wall, dreary restaurant. Ain't nothing pretty about this place.I had the beef taco lunch. Three tacos with rice and beans. Beans obviously canned (and watery for refried), rice tasteless and beef like jerky. Not impressed at all. But they did have diet coke, which I downed !! Prices were cheap, $6 for the meal. Seemed like only 1 employee in the building and she did not speak any English, so was a little struggle. May be a great place for the guys to go for a quick cheap lunch, but this girl would rather go to Taco Bell !

Very good Mexican style tacos. I prefer chorizo so I ordered two. The chorizo was okay compared two other taquerias I have visited. I ordered one al pastor, which was one of the best versions I have had. Fair pricing. Friendly service. Would eat here again.
