Service is getting worse with each visit. There is only one pleasant/responsive server. There is one tall dude there who is always wearing a hat with a tattoo that's says Columbia whom can't seems to utilize mannerisms to simply say, just 1 moment or 10. He simply gets to you when he does if you're not dining in.Then he just says what do you need? Likeeeeeee dude, I'm tellling YELP on you! Food is mostly fried but generally good Columbian cuisine. I will repost and review again, this 1 was a few months back and I did not anticipate posting but I do stop by for cheesy empanadas. Good good . To be continued

I've passed by this place for so. many years, I don't know why this was the first time I had ever been... I was out and about and running errands and felt hungry, I needed something and it was slightly chilly out..For a quick order to go, I ordered the tostones appetizer and the large sopa de pollo....The tostones were 4 pieces, pounded to a more thin tostones than I'm used to and were a bit hard on the teeth to bite into. The garlic sauce I had asked if they served with it was like a dressing...cream based sauce with garlic flavor...I had hoped it was the fresh garlic/oil sauce.The soup was great, I ordered the large because the small was just a couple dollars less. I didn't see the size of the container, but I guessed it might be half as much? I got 3 bowls out of it. They also serve on the side white rice and Cole slaw. I've not seen that before.The flavor of the soup was there! And spot on.The lady behind the counter was very nice...after she finished working through someone's bill issue... I greeted her with a happy HOLA! and she responded in Spanish, in which I did as well, but then immediately to English as my Spanish only goes so far Although the tostones weren't great, I would go back for the soup...and would also like to try some of their pastries/breads... They tell me they bake everything fresh there! WOW!

It was okay. Not the best Columbian I've ever had. Empanadas were really odd as the beef/chicken / cheese were placed in a batter and fried ..???.. my husband said his pressed ham breakfast sandwich was good. I had what I would've anticipated to be "bandeja" by its description. Smoked sausage was good but beans needed more seasoning and chiccaron was pitiful. Always want to support mom and Poseys I took home some guava and chocolate pastries and they tasted very stale. Guava part was good though. Cortadito (Columbian version of cappuccino if you will) was outstanding and served with a tiny pastry that was not stale. There appears to be many Columbian spots in that part of Tampa. I wouldn't go out of your way for here. If you need a real pick me up, and are traveling by, stop in for a gallon of the cortadito !

So I'm Cuban and a picky eater. In the aspect that I cook and understand foods and flavor. With that said as you can see in my pictures my steak was overcooked and lacked flavor and was as dry as. Cup of flower. I'm sure the Sahara has more moister than the Syrah then the round things again no flavor. Eggs just tossed together with veggies not worth the price. Thankfully I added the chorizo which was spicy and better than the rest. My friend order god knows what. He tried being nice and said he was taking it to go so his wife could try and later found out he tossed it and told her it was trash. I will say 2 stars because the coffee and water was good.

I'm very pleased with El Cafetal. I was expecting a Colombian bakery, not a sit down restaurant. However it worked out for me since I was looking for a real meal. The ambiance is very Colombian, with the Colombian flag and Colombian knick knacks. I was starving so I definitely had to go with the Paisa. I've been Colombia plenty of times and I gotta say that their Bandeja Paisa was authentic with a few minor differences. I loved my meal, the beans, the chicharron, the bistec, everything was delicious. I would 100% order this again. The service was also spectacular. Our server was welcoming, attentive and friendly. Overall I had a great experience and you can definitely catch me going again soon.

El Cafetal Bakery and Restaurant -Tampa A bakery and restaurant that makes thier distinction of latin flavor thier goal.Had the pleasure of visiting this place and I have to say it's a very enjoyable and friendly area. Staff members do thier best in making you feel at home. Colombian themed , this place brings out thier cultural traditions both in thier food and pastries.
