El Azucarero Restaurant

Well worth the drive. Was recommended by a friend for the food. They have a full menu but we decided to order off the hot bar. Had Pork two different ways, rice and beans and plantains. The flavors were amazing the portions HUGE. The place is very clean. The staff is very friendly and patient (since I didn't speak Spanish) The Chef even came out front to explain the cooking process for us. Will definitely go back again.

This is a new Puerto Rican restaurant in Haines City FL and since my husband is Puerto Rican we were excited to try it out! The restaurant is a cute restaurant near downtown and the interior is decorated nicely, dedicated to the town that the owners are from, with photos, mementos and a mural. Our server was pleasant and willing to answer questions you might have. We ordered our food and waited for it to be prepared. I ordered a bottle of water and my spouse had a tasty piña colada (no rum). After ten minutes the server returned with my order. I ordered pollo ajillo (garlic chicken breast with onions) and a trifongo. The chicken was a little dry and the trifongo was quite unique as it was about the same consistency as mashed potatoes and very moist. I only had a couple bites that I actually had to chew! The taste was strange and the only definite flavor was garlic. As I was almost finished with my meal the server returned to see if everything was ok and my husband inquired as to when his meal was going to arrive. The server said she would check on it. He had ordered pollo chicharron and mofongo. The server returned and said that the kitchen was working on it. My husband said that he no longer wanted it as I was finished with my dinner by then. We paid for my dinner, water and his piña colada which came to just under $22. Needless to say, unfortunately we will not be returning any time soon. We left the restaurant and went to El Zócalo which is a Mexican Supermarket nearby in Haines City that makes very good mofongo!

I tried the alcapurrias, La carne frita con mofongo y flan! the service was amazing, super fast and friendly. Ambiance is not fancy, but it is clean and cute!

Les puedo decir que no me decepcionaron Pedimos mofongo con carne frita y estaba delicioso. Crujiente por fuera blanda en su interior La otra orden de mar y tierra en salsa criolla bien hecha.

I have ordered from this restaurant multiple times after finding them on Uber eats app, and the food is pretty good. I am a repeat customer bc of their tasty food. HOWEVER I drove to restaurant to have a meal with some friends and the porta potties in FRONT of restaurant really turned us off, so much so that we opted to go somewhere else. I hope mgmt sees this and finds another place (in the back maybe!??) for those ... it is NOT a good decoration for the front of a restaurant lol

More than 45min wait for one sandwich even people after me got their food before meDefinitely not coming back here

Great "diners drive-ins and dives" type of place. Ordered for 4 people and there were no mess ups. This was one of two places that I've ever liked the side of beans at. Nice local place to stop to n for lunch or dinner after work. Worth a try.
