3.85 stars Had high hopes for this bbq joint but was a little bit let down on the taste and execution of the food. I got the half rack of the baby back ribs. They were decent. No smoke taste and and lacked a good taste / seasoning at the crust and overall. Slightly chewy but overall 7.7 out of 10. My wife got the brisket and they were - ehh. Juicy but a slightly weird / funky taste that I'm not used too. My wife liked them and she is really picky and judge'y on her brisket. 8.3 out of 10. Sister, brother, and niece got the pulled pork sandwich. I didn't get to taste but they all liked it.As for the sides and starters: Brunswick stew was pretty good. Little bit soupy and not huge on taste. Had better but definitely have had worse. 8.6 out of 10. The sample platter was good (fried okra, bacon wrapped tots, fried green tomatoes) 8.4 out of 10.. Mac & Cheese had that funky orange color and tasted like it came from a box. 6.8 out of 10. Collard greens were - ehhh. Nothing to write home about 7.3 out of 10. But the unexpected show stealer was this fried biscuit stick that comes with your meal or platter. I had no clue what it was but then when I bit into it, I was like this is heaven in its fried southern biscuit glory. So savory and good with a slight sweetness to it. Kind of like a sweet fried hushpuppy donut. Awesome! 9.8 out of 10.BBQ sauces were good. About 6 different flavors. The gold / mustard-based one had a little bit of smokey taste to it which I liked. 8.2 out of 10.Ambience and vibe was southern charm with metal corrugated roof with picnic table comfort. The girls that work and serve there are all really friendly, nice, and helpful.

People are nice but counter service was slow the night we were there. We weren't the only ones who thought so. We sat inside but the outside patio looks nice too. These guys kill the sides!! Bbq beans and sweet potato casserole are fantastic! So is the Mac and cheese. The nice surprise were their garlic butter (fried) biscuits. They are the fried plantain looking things with the brisket. They are delicious! The meat? Ehhh. The Cajun dry rub smoked wings had nice flavor and paired amazing with the Cajun bbq sauce. There was zero smoke profile though. None. Same with the brisket. Nice pink looking smoke ring all around. Zero smoke flavor. It tasted like delicious Jewish deli brisket. If I had a blind fold on, never would have guessed it was smoked. Without a blindfold, still can't taste smoke your eyes say should be there. We'll be back because the sides are THAT good and I want to try the ribs.

None of this food was what I expected. Two pulled pork sandwich was very salty, the sweet potato casserole had little seasoning and basically plain canned sweet potatoes with cinnamon sugar on top, the fried green tomatoes were a upcharge and they were halves not whole tomatoes fried ok but with no corn meal, their best I ever had fried peach pie was a tortilla with peach cobbler inside and fried with powder sugar on top. Like I said NOT what you would expect. Save your money all of this food was 38.00.

***8 years later update:I came in after a long drive from Orlando craving bbq. I was hesitant because of my last experience (i gave it a 1 out of 5) but have seen some good reviews recently and let me tell you. Excellent customer service, it was about a 15 min wait this time but I was let known the wait time so I was fine with it. The beans were a completely different recipe it was delicious, I got the brisket, also delicious and the Mac and cheese was good too! I definitely recommend this place and can't wait to come back!I was excited to eat here after reading the good reviews. The food took awhile (30minutes) especially with them having no customers but the pulled pork sandwich 2 sides and fried pie only came out to $8.25 :) unfortunately, the fried green tomatoes were sour and soggy with no sauce to dip them in I'm not sure what kind of baked beans that was it had shredded chicken pinto, black and Lima beans and a very watery sauce it was awful and the pulled pork sandwich wasn't anything special at all . I also tried the pie which had good reviews I got strawberry it was just pie filling rolled in an egg roll it wasn't good either. Never again

The sides: coleslaw is not consistent in freshness. Not very flavorful. Fried green tomatoes, greasy. Fried okra dry. Beef good. But, I think they don't know how to weigh their portions. Always seems like we're being cheated. The service is terrible. Waited 35 minutes for 3 orders. RIDICULOUS!

I dont know if it was just bad luck, bad timing or if people around Brooksville don't know what good smoked food taste like but this was horrible. The ribs were tough and so were the wings and they didn't taste smoked at all. The ribs looked like they were boiled. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I am a fatty brisket type guy. How is melts in your when done right cannot be duplicated and this place has it. I ordered the dinner portion and the flavor was on point but the cook was perfect. The brisket had a nice bark on it and I didn't need sauce. (Personally i think if you put sauce on brisket it's because the brisket is too dry) anyway the sides were delicious too, it's not an afterthought the Mac and cheese and fries were awesome. They also has this thing that was like a funnel cake with no sugar that was fantastic. I ordered at the counter and had my food within 5 minutes. It's a cool place and as a native southerner, you do feel like you're eating in a restaurant in the south and a small town. It has a cool vibe to it. You get a lot of food too. I totally had the meat sweats when I was finished...
