I figure I've reviewed this place enough. However Steve sold the place not too long ago after a 40 year or so run at it. Seems like there are a few new faces in here, but then whaddiya expect in the diner business these days? Inside looks no different and still kinda rundown, albeit still clean. Still several flatscreen TV's scattered around. No Bella either; boo!!!! Julia was the gal we wound up with after hostess sat us in a comfortable booth. Quite the perky, manic little thing; total whirlwind of enthusiastic activity! I don't do perky very well at early hours when there's no booze involved...Julia, however, was pretty efficient and quick.Queen Bee chose Garden Skillet and I the Andouille Skillet. Those are basically a small skillet (duh) piled with home fries, onions, two eggs any style and whatever meats, cheese and veggies each one calls for. It's sorta like a deconstructed omelet with taters and toast, but eggs are made to one's liking. She likes eggs over medium with no runny anything and I prefer scrambled...I wasn't sure what to expect with new ownership as far as whether food is better, same or worse. Well: it certainly wasn't any better by a long shot, but it was still just as good as I recall from visits past. Nicely seasoned but not crazy. Loads of stretchy cheese and decent veggie matter in both; both sets of eggs well prepared too. Like I said above, the inside is still the same overall, and the outside got a new coat of paint. Meh...I DID notice a few differences in some of the small details though. For one: a lot of the small decor items now have to do with American nostalgia from 50's and 60's...Lots of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, retro chrome crap. Mostly oldies type music playing overhead rather than the previous nondescript music and noise. Other than these smaller cosmetic details, there wasn't any perceptible radical change of any sort.By and large, I'd still be willing to return and try other stuff. Menu has not really changed that much either, for that matter. The only letdown I felt: no Bella. I hope she just had the day off rather than moving off to other shores. No real problem with Julia, per se; she turned out to be fine. All I can say further is my hope for the Skillet as a whole. I hope they keep their course straight and try not to reinvent the wheel. Yes: new owners mean new ideas, food, etc. I also hope they don't alienate all their old customers in the process. Bella...where ARE you???

I found the expansive menu interesting with a lot of good-sounding dishes. One of the first thing I noticed was the restaurant had that "this is where the locals eat" feel to it. Maybe it was the gentlemen sitting at the bar eating rather than one of the many tables, LOL.I had the shrimp and grits which also has bacon, and andouille sausage with cheese. I found the grits lacked seasoning but the sausage was very tasty and the shrimp was a good size. The side of corn beef hash was ok, not bad but the greatest. All in all, I think the menu is big enough that I will try it again.Oh, they're close to PIE so if you're looking for a place to eat close to the airport, I would recommend it.

I had their corned beef hash with beef, potatoes, and onions. It also came with 3 extra large eggs, potatoes or grits, and toast and jelly or biscuit. It was definitely more than I could eat. The food was fabulous! It was a moderately busy lunch crowd, and the service was extremely slow. I actually thought she forgot I was here, so I hunted her down to take my order.

Staying at hotel next door which is another review on its own . They did not have room ready so went next door for a light lunch and wait . Truck was full of suitcases and other things . Why this important was a little attitude we got. We wanted sit by the door so keep eye on our stuff . One young lady said that section closed and had little attitude. But i may have been a little adamant about seeing truck !! Any way she said fine and we did not get service (15 min ) tell owner asked did we need anything. Thats when it got fantastic . Julia came up and was very good . Look forward to to a few more times while we are in hotel . Liver and onions were top notch .. gravy was good . Homemade Blue cheese was great . So there will be more review as week goes on . Look forward to pork chops and a-lot more . Was clean and looked like a old diner very homey feel

We were taking our son to the PIE airport and needed some breakfast before dropping him off and came across this place. The service was good and the food was flavorful. This place reminds me of an old country diner. If we are ever over at the airport in the afternoon we will go back for lunch or dinner.

Had breakfast at this place probably 6 or 7 times while staying at the hotel next to it....They run a tight ship...Good waitresses, and good home cooking...The food is brought out to you fast...I especially like ld the breakfast sandwich on onion roll...I also am a big fan of home fries and they have extra tasty ones herem..I found out they season them with certain spices and put a little parsley in there too.. It puts these home fries on a different level...The hashbrowns also were cooked crispy and great...I did have the Chorizo Skiller but I wasn't the biggest fan of that...The OJ is made in Florida and is better than average...Way better than Minute Maid or anything like that....I just wish they offered real butter....Also wasn't the biggest fan of the scrambled eggs...This place has been in business for 50 years so they must be doing something right...Classic diner atmosphere.

We have been regulars every Friday night until last night! We have been eating here over a year every Friday night. I have explored this menu and enjoyed every thing. With a new owner coming in just a few months ago every thing seemed to stay the same UNTIL 2-29-25 I have eaten the buffalo chicken sandwich many times and the best cook Daniel had never let me down. When our food came from our ever so friendly wonderful server Kala I was surprised at the very old stale wheat bun ( this was a wonderful brioche roll before) with a big fresh piece of fried chicken with hot sauce lettuce tomato and pickle's. The chicken was some kind of thin pressed patty this was not even eatable as Kala came back to see if every thing was ok I explained this was a horrible experience and was not even eatable. She went 3 times to speak to the owner even took my plate to show him. As I watched him arguing with her behind the swinging doors of the kitchen after waiting the entire time my husband ate his really good patty melt she came back an said he will take the sandwich off . I did eat the French fries and he was giving her what seemed to be such a hard time I told her I'll pay for the fries!! Then he comes to our table to say this wasn't his fault he only got the buns that were delivered... so is it my fault that the bread is not good?? He only wanted to defend his really bad excuse of servicing really bad food, I was worried when this old favorite place sold things would change and boy did they!! Between his behavior and the way he treated a good customer we well find a new Friday night place! I understand food is expensive never have I cared that a meal for. 2 with 2 sandwiches with frozen bag French fries were 35-40 dollar because the food and service were great now I cared!! To the new owner stop being creepy and standing and staring at your customers!! And learn when you mess up to fix it gracefully! And treat your staff with respect when you speak to them THEY are the reason you run a profitable business!! Do better
