Country Chicken n Fish

Every time my MIL drove by this place she noticed that there was always a line of people at the ordering window at this shack. What she failed to notice was the drive thru on the north side of the building. They should just call it drive n park. We finally put our collective strength together to wander down to be prepared for the wait. LESSON LEARNED: Phone in your order first. We waited a full 45 minutes for our order of 10 pieces, hushpuppies, okra, mac N cheese, and bbq beans. IT IS TOTALLY understandable for fried chicken to take 45 minutes, especially when prepared from scratch. If you've ever made fried chicken from scratch, you know it take a while. It definitely was worth the wait! Great crust and very moist and flavorful. If I had to do it over again, I'd stick to dark meat though. I was missing a little bit more spice in the coating, like maybe some paprika or something. I took off a star because the hush puppies and okra and rolls were very weak in flavor. Stick to the gizzards if you like that kind of stuff.

I don't know why anyone is bragging about this places gizzards I don't even think they clean their gizzards. I took a few bites into it and it has that nasty taste when you don't clean your gizzards properly and then one of them has like this hard texture to it like it's just disgusting and then the breading is soggy. They give you fake hot sauce with red 40 in it like this is a place that just doesn't care about the quality of food is serves you. I'm so disappointed wasted $20 for nothing.. I'm not even gonna eat the coleslaw. I'd rather eat hospital food than this stuff. I think people who like this were raised on TV dinners and noodles, because what???

Great food! Love the scrimp. The greens are cooked to perfection. I'm not a big fan of the fish but the chicken reminds me of my grandmothers chicken

The food was phenomenal. The service excellent. The reputation undeniable. No one mention you order outside or maybe I missed something. The line was long but well worth the wait.

My Southern roots are jumping with joy! I've dined on fried chicken livers & gizzards from St. Cloud, FL to Texas ( there used to be a place off I-10 I would go out of my way to get to). No place & I mean no place, a close 2nd for livers in Texas, can top these folks at "Country Chicken & Fish" in Lakeland, FL! They know how to cook them vittles! And the pole beans (southern for flat green beans) & bonafide mashed taters w/chicken gravy! Yum! Yum! Be still Southern roots! We got some eatin' to do!And eatin' we did! I eat them hot, I eat them cold, I eat them leftovers slightly heated in my air fryer! All in 2 days time.BTW, I'm Kathleen P from Lakeland, FL

IDK what type of holy oil they deep fried this chicken & fish in but Ms. Pricilla and her crew are going to be blessed ! They're out here doing the lords work. If anyone knows the owner of this spot, please let them know SM3 approves and will be back.

RATED BY MISTAKE!! I have never been here but the food looks good. Would love to try sometime.

Really amazing fried chicken in all forms breast thighs drumstick tenders all great flavors, cooked to order so fresh. Mash potatoes are perfect!!!! I love the potato salad and Cole slaw as well. If you are looking for fried chicken this is the place. Also have fried fish and shrimp. But not really a fan of the shrimp as I personally feel it lacks some flavor but everything is fire!

This is the best fried chicken I've ever had. It's a small roadside stand but the food is incredible. Besides the chicken we've also had the fried fish, okra, French fries and Cole slaw. Everything we've tried has been very good. Don't miss out on this gem!
