I love getting a quart of shrimp lo mein from here because they do NOT skimp on the shrimp. At least half that container is shrimps. I also like getting their steamed dumplings, and egg foo young dishes. They're also very fast in making your food, usually ten mins or less. Reminds me of Chinese takeout back in nyc, and I keep coming back for that nostalgic flavour.

So I really wish there were at least one good Asian/Chinese restaurant in the SCC area, but nope, sorry there aren't any. China Star is really bad, and I hate to write this because the staff are friendly. However, after my third visit, I wanted to share why the low review. Ordered basic sweet & Sour chicken--heavy, thick breading, with small tasteless bits of white meat. Their sweet and sour sauce is heavy on the ketchup and their fried rice is too salty and dry.I only ate a small portion, just because I was so hungry, the rest I was going to peel off the breading to add to my dog's bowl. Unfortunately, China Wok and China Chen are no better.

This is NOT New York Style Chinese food at all. Maybe UPSTATE NY, but definitely NOT NYC. Do not be fooled. The food was incredibly oily. I can literally tip the container to the side and there's a bunch of oil swimming there. It didn't help that my order was messed up and I was totally fine with driving 40 minutes back n forth AGAIN to have it fixed, but to taste like that?! It was just gross. Will never go back. Beware New York City people.... skip this place.

I do believe that this restaurant is a catch all for the hungry and can't wait to eat. The rice is dry, The soup is bland. The egg roll tastes like it was frozen then thawed just before it was cooked. Mush. Tried all the restaurants in the area and had to settlE for this one. Next time I will just starve and lose weight. Terrible.

The steamed dumplings were great, but the sesame chicken combo eh. I had a lot left over after the dumplings. Reheated the next day and it was awful. Threw it away. Sad '.

The service was not friendly, the bathrooms were disgusting and tables were sticky. When we asked for a glass of water, they "only" had warm water from the dirty sink Ina Styrofoam cup. No ice. They gladly will see a plastic bottle of water. The egg drop soup was too salty and I was afraid the shrimp was undercooked. There are too many similar offerings to go here.

Call ahead for faster service, otherwise there may be a long line and long wait time. This place has a fresh and tasty authentic Chinese dishes. The food portion size was large, the price was right, and all was good. There are a few tables for those who want to dine in, but this is mostly a carry out place. They have cold cans and bottled soft drinks in a cooler. This is one of the best fast food China restaurants in the area. We had good service and our meals were prepared correctly.

Tried for first time. It will be last time. Ordered Shrimp fried rice. Lots of rice and soy sauce. Nothing else - no egg, carrots or peas that I would expect.

Decent Chicago/ NY neighborhood Chinese food. Mei Fun noodles are made right. Egg foo young is good. Good quantity of veggie in those dishes. Egg rolls not so good. Not really an eat in, fast service.

We ordered to go which can always be a gamble but their food was hot and fresh. Extensive menu, have allergens and they work with you when prepping your dish.
