China Gate Restaurant

We have eaten here a few times. The food is middle of the road Chinese takeout. The service was excellent and m order was taken quickly. The atmosphere is typical of this type of restaurant. There were two tables here but I would doubt if anyone actually eats here. Today I ordered Chicken lo mien and Chicken and garlic sauce. Egg drop Soup and wonton soup.

I don't know what up with the apt renters hating on this place! Well, we nice in the well cared for Subdivision nearby & we literally switched from China garden on North Dale Mabry to the quality this place provides. The size of shrimp is not minuscule & even the plain Lo Mein is well flavored. The seafood in white sauce is delish! Give them a try from the Cato's

Inedible food, great service, I got the Happy Family and there was no happiness there at all. Trashed the food!

I initially ordered from this establishment using door dash-my hubby & I enjoyed the chicken & peppers & peppered steak so immensely that he went back in person to pick up more with 24 hours. Ordered from them almost 2 hours before they closed. Ordered for delivery. They were supposed to deliver by 9:35 pm and they never came. At 9:45 pm I drove there to see where the food was after calling a bunch with no answer, and they were closed up! Spent $40 including tip for food that we never got!

Poor - order was incorrect via UBER ...tasteless food, with zero customer service!!! Who tells a customer they are tired, and speak "poor English"?!!!! Correct the problem, don't blame the customer that they are lying about receiving the order! Make it right!!!! This place should not be rated this high on Yelp! Lets face it, Panda Express can produce a better meal!!! Stay away from this place, it's horrible food!!!!P.S. see pic below! $45.00 and this is what I received!Order arrived with sauce on side??!!! Really? The sauce make the Chinese!!!! Gross!

Very friendly people. Your typical Chinese TOGO! I've enjoyed their "House Special Lo Mein". 4 stars for taste - service but 3 stars overall because ! FYI it's very HOT inside so I highly recommend just TOGO orders. # 813-908-7988 Location is OK. I'm very picky about Lo Mein & they are on point here. I only suggest adding chilli for some spicy kick.

Worst ever !! Ordered online with Uber eats and the general tso didn't arrive in my order. We also ordered green delight which is green beans, broccoli and snow peas but it came without green beans. When I called the restaurant, they accused the Uber driver of taking out our general tso and said sorry they were out of green beans. So , does that make it right to still send an incomplete dish and not inform me? A phone call for a swap would have been courteous. They also refused to credit me- the lady on phone said she would call me back after she talked to manager in 10 minutes. I called her in 15 minutes and asked why she didn't return my call ? Her response was " because my English not good , and I'm tired!" No fortune cookies were given with order and the beef broccoli had sauce on side. I've never seen the beef / broccoli without sauce already mixed in . The beef had fat in it - not good. Save your money and order somewhere else !

Food is good but don't take requests. I asked for no veggies on rice and it came with full veggies. Threw it away. Restaurants should honor customer requests

I've lived directly behind this Chinese restaurant for about 6.5/7 years and have been here multiple times over the years, and every single time -- it's been disappointing, bland and tasteless. I've thrown out more than half (or more) of it every single time. The prices are ok, but it's tasteless. The sauce kind of has flavor but not really. Look, I'm not trying to be harsh here. I understand it's a small business and they are just trying to make a living - but in my opinion, it's just so tasteless/bad and the customer service (phone and real life) sucks and they don't care at all, in my experience and opinion. I've tried many different items over the years. I'd estimate 20 ish different menu items. Various chicken and meats dishes, egg rolls, Rangoons, rices, sauces, meal deals etc. I also have a plastic bag full of all of the fortune cookies I've kept over the last 20 years, lived in several major metros all over the world, and dated several incredible women from Asian cultures who regularly cook this food. I love Asia. And I love Chinese food. But, not this place. The best food, and best tasting item here at China Gate on Anderson/Gunn here -- is the fortune cookie that comes wrapped in plastic and comes from a different company entirely. Definitely not celiac / gluten free friendly. **Advice to the business** Please add some salt, some fat, some sugar, some spices and maybe a little bit of care to the food so it tastes better (or, at least like something besides raw texture). It is so tasteless/bland/bad quality and it has been for several years, and several residents here at St James Crossing (we live quite literally directly behind the restaurant, and walk here sometimes) also complain whenever y'all leave the menus on our doors. It's also illegal because we have signs that say no soliciting, and y'all keep doing it. Isn't helping build a good brand.
