Chicago Deli & Coney Dogs

In Largo, for a work meeting, I visited here basically out of convenience the first time. The second time? Because the first visit was yummy! First time? I ordered the Kraut dog with a side of their potato salad. Kraut dog is what you'd expect as for toppings: Sauerkraut, mustard, and onions. Basic. What made it more exceptional? The dog and the poppyseed fresh bun! The potato salad you can tell was house made, very good! Second time? I went with the chili cheese dog and same side. Extra napkins are required, and yes I dripped some cheese on my khakhis! Woops! The hotdog is again delicious. The chili topping mild but definitely house made. There was nothing left after other than the little stain on my pants lol. Inside is pretty small. I'd guess 15 tables ( a mix of round tops and booths). Their service? Excellent. I was surprised to see how many team members were working. At least 4 to 5. Listening while eating, I could hear one team member training another. Loved that. It also appeared they were very supportive of each other and better? Having fun doing it. Look, I've only sampled their hot dogs thus far, but there is much more on their menu, and they have daily specials! They are only open to 3:00 and yes I contemplated asking for a to go box to store in my car for dinner later! It's like 300 degrees in my car so yeah, no.Here? It was convenient for me. However, if I lived here? This would definitely be a spot! Recommend!

Disappointing !! Went there on Nov 8 2022, ordered a Chicago Dog and Coke with no ice and a Chili Cheese Dog.Both were warm, not hot like a hot dog should be, and the no ice Coke had ice in it !!And to top it all off, they add a "non cash adjustment " fee for using your credit card (Note to all business owners: Credit card fees are part of your overhead, and n o t a customer charge.Place was not busy when we went.First and last time !!!

I must say that the name itself inspired a bit of suspicion within my jaded heart. A place calling itself Chicago Deli & Coney Dogs should not be calling their subs "hoagies," as far as I know, "hoagies" are definitely a Philadelphia area thing, a popular theory is that many of the Italian immigrants worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, once known as Hog Island. These workers were often called "hoggies," which eventually morphed into hoagies. It does seem a bit high priced and the sandwiches are a bit skimpy. Also, I definitely have had better. Their website States that they use either Nathan's skinless beef frank or a Chicago Red hot dog with a natural casing. While neither is a bad hot dog, I would have liked to see Vienna Beef hot dogs, which is an institution in Chicago, and perhaps a mixed beef (pork and beef) hot dog. But I guess these are not bad. They also do not offer french fries, so get that thought out of your head. I guess I will have to ultimately give it two stars. I will say that they have been here for over thirty years, so they have a fan base, which is the only way to last that long. I just personally do not see it.

I work around the corner. I was looking for a convenient place for lunch and decided to stop here, what a disappointment! Totally over paid for this sandwich. I will not be returning. $7.70 please see the pic. I want my money back is how I feel. I ordered Chicago Combo... Don't waste your time or some unless really short of time. I love supporting small business but this is grossly taking advantage of us the consumer.Hardly any meat on this over priced sandwich. Let's think of all the other places I could have gone and gotten so much more... No pickles, no chips just a sandwich a kid would make for lunch.

CHICAGO DOGS were ice cold bought for crew spent $32 threw away and ordered pizza. Don't waste time or money this is the second time this place has disappointed if you want a Chicago dog go to portillos for the real thing HOT!

The Dog House over on Ulmerton has been permanently closed so we quickly searched Yelp for another hot dog place in the vicinity. This deli appeared so we decided to give it a try. While the hog dogs themselves were pretty good, I felt the dog could have been hotter. They have them precooked in one of those rolling hd machines. The atmosphere was rather bleak, like you'd find in an office building cafe. But like I said...the final product was good. Despite that, we probably will not be stopping by in the future...we'll continue our search for a replacement to our favorite hot dog place when we head over to Pinellas County.

Wednesday lunch time makes this a busy place, because the food is very good.I usually have the ham and provolone sub with the Greek dressing, very delicious!

Beware that the chicken sandwich is fried and that the limonade comes out of a jar.Staff is friendly and the fries are yummy.

Best service, quaint little place. We go here at least once weekly and are NEVER disappointed! The sandwiches are top notch ~ a definite little gem.
