Pros: service is good, warm decorFood was mediocre, the ceviche de camarones in a tomato based sauce- not great, the whole tilapia was not seasoned (very bland), side dishes (fried yuca, tostones- good. Lomo saltado - sauce was very good Overall, tried it but rather go somewhere further when we want Peruvian with lime based ceviche & seasoned whole fried fish

Let's start with the service, short, attitude and abrupt. Food is over priced and undelivered. New owners and the quality has gone down. Not even if I received a free meal would I ever eat here again. Don't set high expectations and expect to being disappointed. I'd rather drive to Armenia area than to ever come to my local stop.

I've often passed by this place without much thought, but the mural on the side of the wall caught my eye today. The Happy Hour margaritas offered only basic options for $16, which was a bit disappointing considering there are other choices available. They were decent. However, the empanadas were a standout, absolutely delicious!Service was friendly but a tad slow. The interior is a bit small but well-kept.Overall, it didn't quite wow me, so I'm unsure if I'd return, but I wouldn't say no either.

We were in the area between breakfast and lunch so we decided to pop into the bakery side for a breakfast sandwich. The Cali Bakery is just to the left of Cali Viejo. We walked into an empty place but we were sort of greeted when walking in. I took it upon myself to go find a menu and then was asked if I would like to order to-go or sit down. We chose to sit down as I was with my kids. The kids ordered orange juice and I ordered water. After some time, the kids were brought fresh OJ that was delicious. I was brought a bottle of water. I ordered the cheese egg and sausage Cuban for the kids to share and I ordered bacon egg and cheese croissant. That also took a good amount of time. There were a couple more people that came in after we ordered and they were still sitting there waiting after we were done eating. My croissant was a little burned on the bottom but otherwise as was expected, and they kids enjoyed their sandwich. Nothing special for the price aside from fresh orange juice $3 each. We probably won't come back here but it was an ok breakfast.

Cali Viejo is situated on the west-bound side is US-60 in Brandon. A non-descript cream colored building with a lovely mural on the side. Upon entering you come upon the bar area. We were warmly greeted and seated. The hostess/waitress was friendly and suggested several items. We came here as I wanted a good Yellow Rice and chicken dinner. When visiting my parents abt 7-years ago we had this dish here. Our waitress said "yes, we have chicken and we have yellow rice..." this was not one coherent dish but a chicken breast (fried or grilled) with a side of yellow rice. I wasn't happy but ordered it. I received ONE flattened (pounded) grilled chicken boob or one grilled chicken boob that was sliced in-half (horizontally) and I got 1/2 of that; what I'm saying is it was a 'thin' chicken boob. In my experience when you order a chicken dinner you usually get two boobs or one large unsliced chicken boob. And there was the side of yellow rice. My mother ordered the breaded pork cutlet and black beans & rice. The chicken was flavorful but being so thin it was dry and the yellow rice was the hit of the dish. The pork cutlet was very delish. We ordered the Flan for dessert. The Flan arrived and plate presentation was nice but the Flan looked like a cookie with whip cream on top. Nothing like the 100's of restaurants I've ordered Flan in before. The flavor was there but the creamy custard texture wasn't. To me it's like the custard broke while setting up. But, the flavor was there. Over all the food, while flavorful, but very basic, a lil skimpy, and did not equate to the prices charged. I'm not going to say "I won't be back" but I will say it might be awhile based on this visit.

Absolutely delicious!!! Service and food are on POINT! We had the colombian empanadas (99 cents each on Tuesday), the Paella (So yummy!) Fried yuca, maduros, mofongo (loaded with chicharron) with garlic shrimp. Fresh made lemonade, and a malta. Everything was freshly made. Definitely going back! Came from NYC and have been looking for good latin food, and everything has been sad until I found this place. Super clean, great service and phenomenal food!

Was in town to visit our son and wanted to try local cuisine for lunch; my son suggested this place - Cali Viejo. My husband ordered the liver with onions, I simply ordered a couple of chicken empanadas, my son had the whole fried red snapper, and my daughter had the shredded beef; we also enjoyed the red and black beans. Everything was tasty; we will plan to visit again when in the area and try other menu items.
