Cajun Cafe & Grill

Time for lunch before a movie. This place is located in the food court of the mall. After sampling every place, I decided on this place while my wife chose Charley's Philly Steak (also reviewed). Decided on Bourbon Chicken with yellow rice. After getting my order started looking for a table and at 2pm, they were all taken. Found a table where people were leaving. As they left, I caught from the corner of my eye 2 other people coming from 2 different direction heading towards it and it became a live version of 'The Hunger Game'. Barely slid my tray on it before them. Got it!Back to the food. The Chicken was great. Very tasty and juicy in a sauce with so much fat in it, I could hear my arteries clapping shut with joy. Let's face it. That's what makes it taste so good. Not meant to be healthy. The rice was the opposite. Very dry, and tasteless. Even a little hard. Not from undercooked, more like a reheated taste. It's mall food. Pretty much what you would expect.

Located in University Mall, the Cajun Cafe & Grill is one of the best "Mall" cuisine restaurants in Tampa Bay.The food is your standard mall food items: Burbon Chicken, Orange Chicken, Fried Rice/White Rice, noodles, Egg rolls, etc. However, many of the items are spiced with real Cajun seasonings, creating a fusion-style meal. A "Casian" cusine, if you will.It's dirt cheap, and you get a full take out box of food. If you are in University Mall, make it a point to go.

Their Bourbon Chicken is amazing! I get this to go every time I'm in the area! Just the right amount of char and an incredible sauce!
