"The Honu Is delicious! There is a reason this place has rest reviews because the food is delicious. I ordered the Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich and I didn't leave one crumb. Outside there is a tiki bar with other seating and inside there is a quaint dining area for those who prefer less action. Only minus is I stood outside waiting to be seated for about 8-10 minutes."
"Our first time there. The sushi was amazing! I had the Snoopy roll which I will be dreaming about!"
"Ok, we usually stay away from 3.5 stars. But it was literally in front of our condo amd by the pool. What a pleasant surprise!!!!! We had a snack and drinks the first evening. Then breakfast. I'm writing this telling you it will be breakfast tomorrow too!!!We had conch fritters and a couple of jerk fish tacos. Both were great! For Breakfast I went with a sampler. Their prices are so affordable I didn't expect large portions. I was wrong!!!! Not only were the portions huge, the food was super hot and really damn good!!!!!The breakfast burrito was huge and packed with tasty fillings. My wife loved her Greek yogurt and fruit. The potato patties were amazing!!! Huge and so tasty. Hashbrowns but with so much more in them! I would drive here just for those! Staff was super friendly. Fast service. VERY affordable for the food Especially breakfast. Drinks were good. Not cheap but it is what it is. This place is great! Come try it!!!!"
"Hidden Anchor was a nice little landlubber surprise! Arrrr! Fabulous local art all around especially the hand made tables adorned with lost pirate treasures & gold coins. The currency of Kings! Arrr! Excellent Blackened Shrimp Nachos! Real quality Pearls or the sea! OuiOui. The owner, a tall dark handsome fellow pirate lad, greeted us with enthusiasm to joining him for Nacho Tuesday! Ole! Live music was happening outside, so we sailed into the dark abyss of the sea till we drifted into the twilight, of the Lilith Tide stars, of the sea faring pirate saloon. And what a beauty she is. Arrrr! A capsized dingy "the flying dragon" lay in troubled waters up above, of the few scalawags & merrymen that sailed Hidden Anchor before us, ending in doom. Arrrr! Beautiful Scarlet Wind Bar wenches here are fierce with a relentless spirit of hospitality & kind service. We were given top notch treatment, customized our order of Blackened shrimp Nachos instead of with the grilled blackened bird. Arrr! We wanted Pearls of the sea & the lovely Scarlet Wind bar maidens delivered tenfold. OuiOui. Best blackened Shrimp Pearls of the sea Nachos this side of the Strait of Magellan! Highly Recommend!"

Friends brought us for our first visit to The Honu. It had just finished pouring down rain, and we had planned to sit outside at the Tiki bar. The tables outside the hut were sopped and the bar full, but when two people got up, staff quickly cleaned up the area and made us welcome, as did the other patrons (regulars?) at the bar. The decor was tropical and had a super fun, Hawaii vibe which was very inviting and really made us feel comfortable. We were just there for drinks, but boy were the fantastic. We had the Mai Tai, Jungle Bird, and Zombie, all of which not only were visually beautiful, but were delicious. Toward the end, our friend ordered a tasting of 4 Rums. The bartender was particularly knowledgeable about all the rums and explained the flavor profiles and reason for her selections for us. Afterwards, she had us sniff test a couple of other rums and explained the background of them. All the staff was super friendly and really knew their drinks. Several people at the bars had ordered food, and it looked truly amazing. We can't wait to go back and try more drinks and their yummy food!

Why did I choose this place?Because Takara is the company that makes Transformers in Japan! (Editor: This is why you don't have a girlfriend.)There was a Takara Sushi on Bruce B Downs from 2013-2018 close to my house, but apparently there is no relation like Babs and Buster Bunny.Anyway, Takara is in the same plaza off Van Dyke and Dale Mabry as Kohl's , Publix, Subway, and Panni's grill. The restaurant looks small from outside but is more spacious when you enter. Parking is easy due to being in a big plaza. The motif is black and white and dark brown with some Japanese artwork. There is a sushi bar section and regular booths/tables.Since it is relatively new, there was only one couple and me on a Sunday evening. The service was great. They even gave me a "Cheese and Cracker" appetizer sample for free which was a nice touch.. It was a cheese tempura item with some sauce. 4/5I ordered 3 rolls and a soda. The presentation was great -served on a wooden board with some orange slices and some petals. I ordered a spicy tuna, eel and avocado, and a lobster roll. The prices were fair and the fish was fresh. The spicy tuna was a bit mushy, but good. I think Yoshi Sushi is my favorite of the Tampa places that I've been to , but Takara is pretty good with no major faults. 4/5As of this review, they have no alcoholic drinks such as beer or sake. Hopefully, they consider it in the future. In other reviews, other folks kept talking about fried oreos , but I didn't see that on the menu. The desserts consist of various ice creams and fried cheesecake. Beverages include fountain sodas, Thai Thea, and Japanese sodas. It's also nice that it is open Sundays. I think this would be a great date night place for people in the Carrolwood or North Tampa area.

Excellent service. The lady behind the counter is cordial patient and a great multitasker. Whoever the cook is does a great job too first I was a little skeptical and I figured the food was just so-so. But it's actually good. The tacos are good, the fries are super yummy, the hamburger was amazing and the drinks are good as well. This place will make you not want to go anywhere else.

Hidden Anchor is one of the New Eateries in Tarpon Springs. Located at the former Morgan Mae's or even Yard of Ale, the location is central and easily found. Parking can be a challenge. We came on Sunday and had dinner together, inside, as the humidity was high. Service was a bit slow, but the food was really really good. I had the Grouper, Scallops and Shrimp and it was Delicious! My husband had the fried platter and he too was happy with what he got. The tables were fascinating, as they're all different and hand made.We were not there for this, but they do offer Live Music several nights a week and Karaoke for the folks who sing We'll be coming back as we liked the fare.

Better than expected! We had the gator (lightly blackened) and Captain's platter (grilled) and rum runners. Everything was super. We'll probably ask for lighter seasoning on the platter next time, but otherwise awesome.

Very friendly bartenders. Love the laid back atmosphere. Open air seating area makes it a good spot to day drink. It's nothing fancy, but you're bound to have a good time with the locals that come here. We made a few new friends before we left. I recommend the blueberry lemon drop shots!

"Hidden gem. Although it has the look, feel and vibe of a dive bar, the food is even better than the usual. Seems like someone is taking things to the next level. Small touches like fries and ketchup are not normal bar fare. I had the grouper tacos with the black beans and rice. I've had plenty of beans and rice but there was a sauce within these that was exceptional. Great spot on the water as well."
"Fun local place with cigar city jai alai on tap! Food is pretty good. Barmaids are the best. They offer karaoke almost every night which drives me nuts but it is very popular and the house is always packed. Go check it out"
