"Searching for some sushi, while I was in Tampa for work. Reviews for Usami sushi were really strong so I thought we would give it a whirl .I'm really glad I did. Service was fabulous, in the menus had some really interesting items on it..But would you really want to know about the food:Crab Rangoon - excellent appetizer Volcano - not sure why it is called volcano, but it came with spicy tuna and avocado.Coconut Shrimp - wow, amazing.Rock n Roll - favorite of the table, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, crab and topped with eel sauce.Dale Mayberry Roll - same as Rock n Roll but with smoked salmon. Really a delightful place to eat."

"A very welcome back visit for our old friend. We meet here for the welcome dinner. It is definitely a great gathering. We have a big group in the dinning. Thanks to restaurant for treating us with appetizers. I have two specialty roll. The Samurai roll. This the signature roll. This is a shrimp with avocado. Nice touch with strawberry peel. The next roll we have is the volcano roll. This roll I recommended. It has nice tuna cube on top of conch roll bottom. The taste is sophisticated. We also got a miso ramen. Ingredients are good but I prefer Tonkutsu broth better. Service is good. It is a bit slow. We have good experience."

"Overall a good experience! I came to FL as a tourist and stayed with a friend who recommended Hot Tuna and raved about your happy hour. Even though the place looked busy, we were seated almost immediately! Good selection on the HH menu and the quality of the rolls was worth the price! I had two orders of salmon sashimi that never came, but it didn't matter since the two rolls I ordered were more than enough :) The overall noise level wasn't too loud which was nice so my friend and I could have a conversation during dinner. Will definitely come back during my next visit!"

I was amazed The wait staff was very attentive, she met me on my last pieces of food to get my next order in quickly.I ate 3 speciality rolls and another roll. Tbh I'm not sure what all I got as I asked for her recommendation and only asked for salmon, crunchy, and eel sauce, she worked her magic and gave me the best rolls I could ask for.After my sushi I asked for miso soup, and crab Rangoon after that. I was STUFFED, absolutely stuffed to the brim.For only $36 after cost, tax, and tip, I HIGHLY recommend this place. We both ordered a teriyaki bento box and we're pleasantly surprised by the amount of food+sides and overall quality. The miso soup was so soothing, the tempura batter perfection, and the California-roll alternative was a delicious imitation crab + crunchy flakes combo. My beef teriyaki was tender and I really enjoyed the teriyaki sauce. Falls in my realm of comfort food after several days of eating American/casual poolside.I've read good reviews of Umai being a favorite local spot and I can see why. Definitely filled our craving for Japanese/Asian cuisine while on vacation in FL!"

There was no wait but please note the restaurant is out of a converted home and the other tables that were available filled up shortly after. The lady running the show was unbelievably personable, stopping by to chat and made us feel so welcome to be there. I started with a thai tea which was a good serving size and rich and tasty as expected. We ordered the tofu fresh rolls to start, order came with 2 and dipping sauce. They were pretty standard fare. I had tofu panang as my entree and it was Delicious! I've never had thai food served in an elevated platter w a warmer underneath, and a ladle. It stayed hot and tasty and I felt pretty fancy, not gonna lie. My friend ordered Tom Kha soup with shrimp which she devoured and fried rice which looked good but fairly standard. We did not have room for dessert. I love the intimacy of this restaurant and that they have fresh herbs and vegetables growing on the property. I don't remember exactly but I think there were only 5 or 6 tables and about as many parking spots so you'll probably know if their full before getting inside but probably worth calling ahead to check before heading over."

The seating is booths and tables and the lighting is very dark, which goes a romantic date vibe. I ordered with a lady. She the Ramen and I got the sushi rolls. Everything took about 20 minutes and I was headed home.When I opened the bag, everything smelled so good especially the Tonkatsu broth it was rich in flavor and pouring it over the ramen was so satisfying. Honestly ate the whole thing its was that good. The sushi was good but did get a couple stringy fatty pieces in the tuna roll. Overall, definitely would try them again."

"I never would of found this place if not suggested by a friend. He loves hole in the wall type places and this one definitely fits the bill. I showed up and parked in the back and couldn't figure out how to get into entrance of the restaurant. So I called and was told to hang tight and that they would meet me in the back to help me access the restaurant. I literally walked through the patio, through the kitchen and then to my seat. As a yelpie, this was a great experience as I got to check out a behind the scenes of their operation. I chose the tuna and my friend had the lomo saltado (he's Peruvian). My tuna salad was a bit different than pictured on yelp but was very delicious and tasted fresh. My friend said his lomo saltado was good and had the perfect amount of spice. The recipe is said to come from a visit the owner had in Peru, and the recipe was given to him from a local owner of a restaurant. Can't get any more authentic than that. They do have a decent beer selection and the service was great. The concept is Asian fusion since one owner is Japanese and the other is a southern dude. Phil said that they were going to expand the backyard patio, add a garden and looked towards growing out the space. This was a great visit and we really enjoyed our meal."

"My wife and I ate lunch here as we have had a difficult time finding a good Asian restaurant. When we walked in, the hostess greeted us immediately and sat us in a booth. The ambiance is nice, but it was a bit warm and humid inside and there was a strange musty odor. It was off-putting, but we decided to stay and try the food. We ordered egg rolls as an appetizer and there were good. Very crunchy and the filling was delicious. We both ordered off the lunch menu and had the Chicken Teriyaki bento box, which came with 2 pieces of gyoza and 4 pieces of California Rolls. Chicken was white meat and tender, and the sauce had good flavor. They added sautéed onions, which surprisingly worked well with the dish. We ordered the bento box with fried egg rice instead of white rice, but it was rather plain. Overall, the food was good, the service was excellent, but the humidity and strange odor were the two issues we had with the restaurant. We'll be back to try additional dishes, and hopefully they turn up the AC next time and get some sort of air purifier!"
