We knew the original owner, and now the second in command she is fabulous! The staff is always attentive and polite. The food is authentic Greek, they haven't changed, or in any way deviated from the original recipes that we've loved and enjoyed. of course we order the mixed appetizer spread plate. My husband ordered the lamb shank, which was deboned serve over orzo. I had spinach pies, delicious crispy, and full of creamy spinach. Greek salads are huge enough for 2 to 3 people. This restaurant has their own parking lot, which is always helpful since parking can be challenging Tarpon Springs."

I got a beautiful, warm, traditional and normal( for him) welcome from the lovely Greek owner Elias or Papa as he is affectionately and appropriately addressed. Claudia my server is a sweetheart.Let me tell you something. The sunny side up eggs and the grilled tomatoes are the best I have had in decades. Seriously, the 3 eggs are just right with the delicious and runny yolks and the grilled tomatoes - perfect combo of the smoky char and the garden freshness. The toast is awesome- hot, not overly crisp and with the best butter making it soft and yummy. The coffee is tasty and hot with Claudia ensuring I am being topped off every few minutes. The menu is huge with a lot of Greek specialties, soups, sandwiches and wraps in addition to the tremendous breakfast variety. This is a warm, inviting and spacious diner on a main road with a huge parking lot. Yup, sitting here in my booth and loving every second writing a live review. Claudia - big, infectious smile and bubbling with enthusiasm was very patient with my fickle behind and just stellar with her natural care and customer service. We got to chat about Cuban pastries and cortados in Hialeah."

Mandie B. "When we were in Tarpon Springs one afternoon, my family and I were looking to grab a bite to eat and knew Mama's would be a good choice. I had my pup with me, so we needed a dog-friendly spot and this place has the best patio for families and pups! Our server, Michael, took good care of us. We had a large group, 2 kiddos, 4 adults and a pup. He made sure to bring us lots of water (it was a hot day) and he gave some recommendations on drinks. We opted for a pitcher of beer as well as the 2 for 1 sangria. My nieces were happy to have flatbreads with cheese and my sister and I shared the chicken Souvlaki. I know my mom had a greek salad and my dad had the gyro. All of the food we received was very good. It did take a while to get the food, but that's to be expected at a busy spot. Michael came to check on us a few times and made sure we had our water, beer and sangria. He was super friendly and even though it was super hot outside, he made sure to check on us often. Mama's was a nice spot and we had a good meal on the patio. I am not sure what the inside it like as I did not have the opportunity to check it out. The bathroom is single stall and they have a decent sized bar."

We got the charbroiled octopus and the avgolemono soup. The octopus was so tender. And the oregano and garlic seasoned olive oil the cephalopod was broiled in made a great dip for the house Greek bread, supplied by the aforementioned National Bakery. The avgolemono soup was perfect. Light and lemon-y. The best in Greek comfort food. Tom C. "After walking to the Tyrone Mall in St. Petersburg to get a few things I was hungry. I had eaten at the food court before and wanted to try something different. Looking on my phone for the neighborhood I came across Athenian Gardens, just a block from Dillards in the mall. I'm a big fan of Greek and eastern Mediterranean food so my decision was made.Fortunately I got there a little after one when the lunch crowd had gone so there wouldn't be the rush by a staff trying to get everyone seated, waited on, served and checked out.Their menu is extensive, so much so that I felt like a kid in a candy shop. If my mom was still alive I'm sure I would have asked her if we didn't just have a Greek ancestor somewhere back in time.My waiter was very patient as I tried to make up my mind because I knew that by choosing one I'd be ruling out the others. Still a kid at heart. Finally I found a great combination for a lunch that I thought wouldn't stuff me but taste great - a combination of a Greek salad (with cole slaw) and spanakopita on the side (Lunch Special # 2 on the menu).Little did I know that both come in sizes larger than I had expected. My eyes lit up like they used to on Christmas morning. The world outside of my booth ceased to exist as I started in on the salad, spanakopita in my mind a form of dessert. The greens were green, not wilted or tinged with rust on their spines. The olives, black beauties, had that unique buttery slightly sweet flavor. The feta was fresh and creamy while the cole slaw was so fresh I was convinced it had just been made minutes ago - smooth yet not thick or too sweet mayo - just the right amount and crunchy shreds of fresh carrots. Of course I ate the pepperoncini because the sudden burst of juicy heat is essential to top off any good Greek salad. Then off to the spanakopita! The slab (not slice) was at first a bit intimidating since I didn't know if I could tackle all of it in one sitting (but the thought of bringing some of it home enticed the hell out of me). But my first forkful was so creamy with flavors blended like a watercolor that I finished all of it before I knew it. The colors of both the salad and spanakopita were vibrant with the filo crust of my self-designated dessert the consistency of the best baklava. I also had two small wedding cakes, pastry covered in powdered sugar like a beignet. I meant to take pictures of them but my hands and mouth had other ideas. They were gone before my camera knew what was going on. I can only describe them as soft, not dry, in the middle and with a hint of nutty flavor. The fact that the entire dessert display was only about ten feet from me I'm sure helped me to decide on ordering them."

Eggplant parmesan, taco salad, steak, chicken wings, pasta... it's very possible you'll get overwhelmed just from the options alone which could be a pro or a con. Now, let's talk about the food... absolutely delicious.I was nervous the food wouldn't be seasoned but it was. It wasn't too salty or bland, it was actually just right... and most importantly, it was fresh. You could tell the food was fresh. Also the portions, omg the portions. You get hide portions... like back in 90s when they were trying to feed 3 people with one portion kinda sizes. You don't see portions like this anymore. You should def have food to take home if you don't overdo it. Prices are great, and for 3 people out meal was less than $50 which is rare in these 2023 inflation prices. Would I come back? Steve L. "This may be the saddest review I have written. Truly Greek was one of absolute favorite places in Tampa. It had been two months since we were last there so my wife and I went there for dinner tonight. I was saddened to learn the business had been sold 3 weeks ago. I loved the old owners. They did such a wonderful job and you truly felt like a guest. Their beef shawarma wrap was my go to meal in Florida. There was nothing I didn't love about Truly Greek except they served Pepsi. So, I was a bit apprehensive when I learned of the change. Overall, I will say Truly Greek is still good. The beef shawarma was slightly, I don't think the spices blended quite as well. The tahini was almost mayonnaise thick, so it didn't pour as well into the wrap. The wrapped uses to be cut in half and had more meat with a bit better flavor. When mixed with the tahini, it was life changing. This was not that. The caesar salad was actually very good and I really like the dressing, which seemed to be new. My wife's greek salad looked as good as ever. The service was fine, but not quite as attentive or as welcoming as before. This is to be expected since the owners were the ones who worked the restaurant previously. Will I eat there again, probably, but the shawarma has changed and that breaks my heart. It was 3.5 stars tonight, but I gave it 4 stars because the owners are new."

Ken B. "Firstly the service was great. Both the owner and his wife spoke with us and made us feel welcome and at home. My cup was never empty long either. They really were wonderful. They are really proud of their kids and both of them beam with happiness when you have a chance to talk about your children. The food: we ordered a Greek salad for two, spanakopitas and side Greek salad, and a gyro. We were celebrating a birthday and they sent out an amazing rice pudding.Let's start with the gyro. It was tasty and generously portioned. The tsaziki was quite good as well. Flavorful and delicious. The spanakopita was our clear favorite. You hope for a good crust, the flavor of feta balanced with good seasoning. This hit all the high marks. The side Greek salad doesn't come with all the same toppings as the Greek salad dinner. Things like peproncini come on one but not the other. Still a good salad, generously portioned as is the case with all their food. Thirdly the Greek salad for two. It has the things you would expect, we would have liked more feta cheese, and while we like oil and vinegar dressing we are used to an oil and vinegar with seasoning. All in all the food was good. Finally the rice pudding. It was outstanding. I'm not normally a fan of rice pudding but I would be if everyone else's rice pudding tasted like this. The reason we only gave three stars was because of the state of the tables. I didn't look at the booths, they may have been different but of the six tables inside the restaurant in the dining room, all six were dirty. The table we initially sat down at had a sticky spot, and what looked to be dried dirty dish water and with dried food on it. Maybe it was a dirty rag used at the end of a long day, but either way we almost got up and left when we realized they were all like this. Lastly, we didn't realize it until we were leaving but my mother's chair was broken and as she stood to leave it ripped a little hole in her pants. All in all we will be back. The food was quite good! As to cleanliness we are just assuming we caught them the day after a busy night. Because everything else looked clean and welcoming; and yet this is a review and I have to report what we experienced. Really lovely people. Lovely food. We will be back."

Tom M. "Access is through a parking lot off of 4th St., N and 22nd Ave., N. Lots of traffic at this intersection so that can make entering a little tricky.I really like this place. They have great patio seating that unfortunately for some is right on fourth Street, which is pretty heavily traveled. For me, however, the traffic noise does not present much of a problem. There's soft Greek music playing in the background which makes for a pretty good ambience.I had the Greek salad which is arguably the simplest thing on the menu but it's still very reasonably priced. You can add a variety of different proteins but I typically opt out of that. Now, here's a couple things about this Greek salad. First of all, I actually have a visitor to Saint Pete all week, who was born in Greece, and has returned to her roots frequently. When I told her that Greek restaurants in this area include a dollop of potato salad in their Greek salad. She looked at me like I was from Mars. so let's discount that as an authentic item. The other thing about Greek salads is that in their authenticity, they do not include lettuce. That must be some kind of Americanization. A true Greek salad is usually very crunchy and vegetables only.Yeah, the thing I like in my Greek salad is slices of feta cheese rather than crumbled. They use crumbled here but hey, what are you gonna do? I'm OK with it and this is not a complaint. With a variety of beer and wine I do highly recommend this place. It's probably as authentic as it's going to get."

It was so wonderful! The batter and frying technique is everything. The shrimp and fries were seasoned so well. I'm still craving this shrimp. It was super hot out of the fryer so let it cool off before you take that first bite. But it's so worth the money. I could have shared this with my husband. It was such a large quantity. There were about 10 jumbo shrimp and a ton of thick cut fries.I decided to drop in for lunch based on Auyanna's review. I totally agree with her. The staff was so friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I was given cocktail sauce for the shrimp, but I didn't need it at all. It was tasty by itself. They have plenty of booth and table seating. The restaurant is clean and roomy. This whole experience makes me want to go back and try other menu items. Maybe a fish and shrimp combo next time. Don't even ask me about their Mediterranean food. I'll have to update this review after I finally try it. I was also surprised to see the coconut lychee drink. It was very good for a bottled SaVia drink, and they had many flavors. It even had little pearls of lychee jellies. It was kind of sweet like a bubble tea. It was great! I know they have other locations in the Tampa Bay area, but this one is in Riverview on US Hwy 301 and Krycul Ave (or Duncan Rd, or Gornto Lake Rd). That road gets renamed 3 times as you're driving through Brandon to Riverview. It eventually becomes Krycul once you cross over 301. Anyway, Zeko's is behind a gas station and next door to Flavaz Jamaican Grill (another great restaurant). This place is kind of a hidden gem. When you walk in, you go to the counter to place your order. You can then have a seat or browse the items in the grocery store while you wait. In a few minutes, they will call your name and give you your order. My order is typically for the Gyro (warning: lots of tzatziki! Which I personally love), the greek salad, or the chef greek combo salad. The combo salads let you order half salad, and a choice of meat salad and side. I typically get the chicken salad and potato salad. Everything that I have tried is delicious and fresh. Make sure you check out their specials board too. One of my favorite things here was a "Fire Gyro" special that they had (gyro with bacon, jalapenos, and hot sauce). The store that is included in the restaurant has a lot of greek and ethnic items. It is neat to browse and see what they have. I see many items that I have not seen elsewhere. They also have various drinks in a cooler like ICE and sodas if you want something other than the fountain options the restaurant has. There are bakery items in the back corner too. The appetizer was tasty and filling for two people. The country fried steak was really tasty and easy to cut with a fork. The mashed potatoes were room temperature which was a little disappointing but still tasty, the rice pilaf was a bit heavy on the salt, otherwise tasty. The white creamy sausage gravy was really tasty. The Haddock was a sizable portion and tasty by itself. It had a Mediterranean sauce on it that was tasty although a bit heavy on the salt. The brown gravy was overly salty and best we ordered it on the side as that is just where it stayed. The steamed broccoli was fresh and steamed not swimming in butter like many restaurants serve.
