"Saw this online and stopped during my lunch. The cake pieces!!! Damn. $4 and huge slices! I had one with chocolate chips and a cheesecake layer and then I bought a strawberry one with a cheesecake layer too. Then four cupcakes at $3/cupcake.And 80% was just for me. The gal that waited on me was very sweet and helpful too. I couldn't stop eating the chocolate chip one and I wasn't even hungry (had a big lunch). The flavor was just so good! And it was so moist!"

"Maikel Bakery is new to the neighborhood and has already made a positive impact. While it's described as a bakery, it's more than that. Besides a tremendous variety of bake goods, they also offer tasty Hispanic cuisine. When you walk in, the food choices are overwhelming! I ordered a Cuban sandwich, a side of yellow rice and black beans as well as a pastry. The amount of food you get for the money is very good.The establishment isn't a restaurant so don't expect inside sitting at a table to enjoy a meal. While there is an outside dinning area, the set up is designed primarily for pickup orders. Incidentally, while the staff is friendly, it can sometimes be a struggle to communicate since they mostly speak Spanish. It's not too bad though because all you have to do is smile, point at what you want and they'll do the rest. Miakel does have a drive thru, but I wouldn't recommend using it (especially if the place is packed) unless you know exactly what you want to order - as I said earlier, the food choices are overwhelming. Do I recommend this place? I certainly do!"

"If you're in Tampa/St. Pete and need a cake done, this is the place to go!!I found out about Cakes Plus after I saw Chef Mario on the food network during the Christmas cookie challenge. I knew I needed to get a cake made by him for my sister's bridal shower.Ordering process- I met with him one afternoon about 4 weeks before the event and within 20 minutes we had decided exactly what design to get (he has an album full of old cake designs) and he had even sketched out the idea of the cake I wanted. We set a date and time for pickup and everything worked out seamlessly!Tip- order several weeks ahead of time. They operate on a first come first serve basis and have to block off certain amounts of time per cake to do a good job. If you're not entirely certain which design you want right away but you know you want them to make your cake, you can put down a deposit so they can ensure blocking off time for you.The cake- Since it's a family run business they're versatile and not that limited on what they can do. They have several options and do not up charge for different cake flavors (we had chocolate&vanilla layers with strawberry filling in between). We had so many compliments on the flavor and look of the cake!Pricing- again keep in mind this is a family run operation and what you're getting is carefully handcrafted by Mario and nina. Different designs and the work put into making them (like sugar flowers or incorporating real ones, or ready made props) will change the price. Our cake was $299 for the amount of decor (we decided not to have the entire cake full of flowers which would have been possible but more like $350). Overall it was expensive but well worth it."

"That moment when you find out a chain you love comes to your town finally!!I discovered earlier this week that Nothing Bundt Cakes finally got a Lakeland location, and my whole week was made! I love these bakeries and was so sad to not have one super close by, because back home in the MidWest they are really all over.These guys did not disappoint! Those dense cakes with the funny frosting pattern are my absolute weakness. They have such a good variety of flavors to choose from like marble, red velvet, carrot, lemon, chocolate chip, even a snickerdoodle when i went, and etc, as well as gluten free options.This is dangerous living close to an NBC, but high risk high reward as they say!!"

"This was such a great find. I ventured out this am while visiting family. I came across this really cute and quaint location in search of something good for breakfast. The staff was amazingly friendly and cordial. The bakery was clean and inviting. I was in awe of how good everything in the cases looked. Wanted to taste all the flavors. It was hard to make a choice. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a cupcake. They brought the food right to the table and made sure I had everything I needed. Service was fast and the food was tasty. I would highly recommend a stop in if you are in the area. Actually even if you aren't, the cupcakes are worth the drive!!"

"This is an amazing local bakery. It's spotlessly clean. Better yet, the service is incredibly helpful and friendly even though my Spanish is pretty poor. I still try as best I can. They also make Cuban sandwiches or media noche. Plus, they have chorizo, chicken and beef empanadas until they run out. Finally, they have guava pastries as well as cheese ones. Unfortunately, they were out of guava pastries when we visited in the late afternoon. That's ok. Gives us a good reason to return!The colada we ordered was freaking delicious. The crema on top was impressive and it was so smooth. We polished off the whole thing together in a few minutes. I know you are supposed to share a colada with four friends but hey, we were thirsty. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Life is good with local Hispanic bakeries!"

"This place is a little confusing - sandwich shop (called Sandwhich Hound) and cake shop in one. I am going to first say, the food was great-really delicious smash burgers and sandwiches and a good bit of variety. Sides - fries or chips are both great, seasoned well. They have a $5 meal deal where you get a drink, fries or chips, and a dessert (brownie or cupcake). There were some issues that would probably make me come back but for order ahead take out only. This location has always had ventilation issues and it seems to have only gotten worse. As soon as you step inside, you walk in to a building full of smoke from cooking, it's ok for a few minutes but made me nauseous while waiting for food. Stay too long and you smell like the place for the rest of the day. There didn't seem to be many people working so for 3 of us to order and take it to go took 40 minutes. On top of that, a young child that must have been one of the employees was wandering around unsupervised, grabbing customers, playfully biting them, rolling on the floor and licking the floor - nearly the whole time we waited for the food to come out. It was a lot and seemed to make a lot of people uncomfortable. It also made us question, since he came from behind the counter, if he had access to and was touching the food in the back. I completely understand that child care is expensive, but in this environment there needs to be some supervision. Again, food was great, service was slow but friendly, the environment just wasn't good at all."

"Sami's main draw are the baked goods which are all prepared in-house. They ship all over the country and it is a huge operation. You may find their items at your local grocery store. They have a small store front where you may purchase their goods. They offer vegan and gluten free products as well. They have a strong following and are known for their quality. I come here for the tabouli, red pepper hummus and pita bread. The tabouli has a tremendous flavor and is made without bulgar. The hummus is nice and is not overpowered by garlic, which I find many are. You can make a nice light sandwich with these items. Sometimes I add feta cheese to this and lettuce. Simple and delish."

"It's Candyland come to life... the Good Ship Lollipop, docked in Valrico! When you walk into Sweetie's, it's like stepping into one of their gorgeous confections-everything's sugarplums and whipped cream... frosting and frothing... with sprinkles and sunshine. It's a pink parfait of a place-that's total yum for the eyes. My stomach wanted in on the action, too... so I sauntered up to the cupcake case. Soooo many choices-all of them beautiful. I was so overwhelmed-clearly on a sugar high without yet taking a bite-and quickly chose the cherry chip, banana and cookies and cream to take home. I promised myself I wouldn't devour all three at once and so far I've made it (and I've been home a whole five minutes!!!) I can excitedly report, the cherry chip is divine-a nice balance of flavors... not too sweet. I'll report back on the others later (or perhaps sooner). The little jewel box that is Sweetie's is in the Plaza Bella shopping center, at Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals... and it shares a big parking lot with Naga Tea, the Green Boutique and The Shrimp Boat. Swing by and see them. Say hi-I'll probably be heading in or out when you're there-I'm planning on becoming a regular."

"What a find! A neighbor recommended this bakery to us and I am so glad she did. The selection was huge. Cookies, pastries, danishes, macrons, cupcakes and a bunch of other types of desserts. We couldn't get there until 2pm and their cases were still full of treats. I had an apple/cinnamon danish and later, a lemon tart. The croissant dough on the danish was laminated well and had a flaky, buttery taste. The tart was spectacular. The lemon filling was so tangy and sweet that my mouth is watering again just writing about it. We will definitely be back to try other goodies. The savory croissants and the chocolate croissants will probably be next on my list.Yum!"

"What an awesomely delicious little spot!! If you enjoy the indigestion from Publix or Winn Dixie bakery, if that is one of the reasons you purchase bakery there, don't come here! They don't use the same cheap ingredients here. The stuff here is not thaw and serve, or bake from frozen. This place has real homemade cookies, donuts, cakes, cupcakes, scones. It was wonderful to find this little gem!Speaking of finding it....it IS in the same little strip of stores where the restaurant (currently Hudson Crab House, fka Rogers Chicago Beef & Pizza) and the mini-mart is. It's literally between the two. In the center of the building. In the morning, just park at the Crab House. They aren't open anyway. The bakery does NOT have a roof sign. They are under the gap between the restaurant and mini-mart. The owner was there this morning. Super sweet woman! The bakery all looks wonderful. I went in to try a donut, maybe 2. I left with 2 donuts, 2 cupcakes, and a strawberry bread! Donuts are definitely not from frozen, and are fresh cooked. You know how eclairs have a hole at one end and they squirt some greasy custard in the hole to fill it? Not here!! She slices the cake in half lengthwise and spreads real custard over the bottom half and puts the top on! It's like a donut custard sandwich!! The glazed donut was good too. Fresh fried, not greasy.I asked what flavor the black and white cupcakes were. She said a marble cake with custard - which sounded interesting. Like real moist or something. I was shocked when I cut it in half! Think about the process she did to make these! You aren't finding cupcakes like these at a grocery store! They tasted even better than they looked! Haven't tried the strawberry bread yet, but it smells great and should make amazing PB&J sandwiches this week!! They also take special orders for cakes! I wish I would have got a couple pics inside, because th couple cakes she had ready to purchase looked great! You need to try this place!"
