"If you're following because you're gluten-free, then turn your head away from this review. I have gluten-sensitivity (not Celiac Disease) so I can occasionally have gluten with the help of digestive enzymes.I have only had Cuban sandwiches from West Tampa Sandwich when coworkers picked up lunch for my department. So this review is solely for the Cuban sandwiches. I can't say if this is the best Cuban Sandwich in Tampa Bay. It's up there though. I can't say much on the service or Ambiance because I was never at their restaurant.The Cuban bread is perfectly toasted on the outside and filled nicely with ham, pork, Swiss cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato. In pretty sure there are more ingredients in this Cuban sandwich than the original version, but it works. Plus, I'm all for sneaking in veggies whenever possible."

I love they offer vegan options, you can either go with the 3 side vegetarian meal and select items that are vegan or go with their vegan wrap. I went with the wrap and it was very good but very filling, I was able to eat only half of it. Note that the sauce it comes with is NOT VEGAN.I also got the yucca with mojo sauce. My husband had the ropa vieja with white rice and black beans. He also tried the fried sides stuffed potato. He loved everything he had. I had a taste of his black beans and they were delicious! They also brought a freshly toasted cuban bread to the table. Overall it was a very nice experience and we'd love to come back."

"After a few drinks at 3 Daughters, we were getting a little hungry so we decided to take a short walk to the Floribbean.Here's my take on the experience:Quality of food: Good. You get to pick 3 sides to make a bowl or you can go with their signature bowls. We tried two of their signature bowls: Island Umami and the Yardbird. The Island Umami comes with smoked paprika chicken, coconut rice, chipotle sweet potatoes, sweet plantains, and miso sauce. The Yardbird has basically the same ingredients except for black beans instead of sweet potatoes and Jerk aioli instead of miso sauce. Both bowls were absolutely bursting with flavors and the portion size was huge! I would suggest splitting a bowl with someone next time especially because that coconut rice is super filling.Décor: kinda cool but could use more. They had a couple of little hula girl decorations made out of coconut. There wasn't much besides that other than the tables were also colorful.Cleanliness: okay. The tables were being kept mostly clean.Service: okay. The person taking the order was also the one that would create your bowl. They only had two people working on a Saturday night and both looked super tired and stressed.Price: reasonable. The bowls cost around $12 but the portion size is huge.If you're up for some healthy-ish food that's a little different than the usual then checkout The Floribbean."

"When Ybor City you gotta have a Cuban Sandwich! We found Carmine's. The place has history. Is huge with a comfortable bar.We bellied up starving and thirsty. We waited and waited. Finally the bartender stopped by and dropped menus turned on his heels and he was off to win the came to continue a conversation with bar patrons. No offer of drinks just menus. So we waited again.. finally another stop. We each ordered local beers and then he forgot to pour as he was off to see the bar patrons. A glance caused him to remember.. finally beers. Seizing the moment we each ordered their famous Cuban Sandwich.The sandwich arrived and did not disappoint however the prep time was long and our beers were getting low. The bar patrons were getting louder and the bartender was an instigator. So no 2nd beers for us.3 stars for food1 star for food runner0stars for bartender"

"This is my third time visiting this restaurant. Each time i am impressed. There is no problem parking. We were seated quickly even though it was Sunday at noon. We ordered our food and it was served quickly. The service was terrific. (Until the hubby started feeling ill. We asked our waitress if she could pack it up to go) when we got home, The food was excellent. My hubby had their cuban sandwich. I had the Grouper Supreme with plantains and clam chowder. Our kids also enjoyed the Arroz con Pollo, so that's always a plus when the kids are happy.My wife on the other hand has had a ton of Cuban food and while she thought most of it was decent (okay), she raved about the stuffed crab.We dined inside and it's a little divey, but we enjoyed the ambiance.Don't know if we'll be back, just because it's not close to the place we usually stay, but for what we got, we recommend you give it a shot!"

"Our Sunday after church with family, wife & I, eldest daughter, youngest daughter and two youngest grandkids. Visited on a recommendation from a friend and online ratings.Small but comfy, we found a table for 6 right by the window.I was surprised that a server came to wait on us. Mayte took our drink orders while we glanced at the menu. We decided on the Family Meal with Ropa Vieja and Pollo A La Plancha, with Yellow Rice and Black Beans. Grandkids also wanted Fries. We also ordered one each of Empanadas, Beef, Chicken and Spinach and an order of Mari-k-tas Plantain Chips.Shortly Mayte brought our Plantain Chips, followed by the assorted Empanadas. The Chips were great, fresh, hot and crispy. I divided the Empanadas into sections so all could try some. They were good, but not hot and had apparently been in the warmer I saw earlier. Disappointing since I was the one that really looked forward to them.Next came Cuban bread, crispy and terrific. Then our meals came. A huge bowl of yellow rice, a nice bowl of black beans, fries, and bowls of Ropa Vieja and Chicken A La Plancha. The meats were delicious, full of flavor. The rice was very good and the beans were the best I've ever had. And the fries were terrific, hot and crispy and super tasty. Bread was so tasty we had to order more.And of course Momma had to get desserts to share. The Rice Pudding was great, took me back to my childhood. The Flan was ok, not a big fan of Flan. Sadly they no longer have Tres Leche cake.The food was excellent and the service was great. Definitely the best Cuban food I've eaten in years. The only disappointment was the Empanadas. They can be pre-made and cooked fresh very quickly. But not enough to deter a 5 star rating. Another "must try" place."

You start out with picking a rice and then your sides and then a protein. I decided on spainish rice with sweet plantains and a garbanzo bean soup with the fried fish. Everything I got was good. Next time I would probably switch out the garbanzo bean soup. There were so many options certainly something for everyone. I also added a tamale. It was good but I would probably hold off on getting that again. The wife got a Cuban Sandwich. That was very good. The dining room is spacious and they had additional seating outside. I also saw a bar area which I would assume is open on the weekends. The service was good and prompt but limited if you don't know Spanish. We will totally be back."

"Elena's is a wonderful gem in Lakeland, and certainly a hidden one. It's tucked peacefully into a corner strip mall on Edgewood Drive and is more than easy to drive past and never notice. That's what I did until I started working for DoorDash. This place is super popular on there and it's really a great option if you want that delicious Cuban food (and let's be real- you know you do).I've put in several pickup orders through DoorDash and they are always ready super fast. Currently Elena's drive thru is the only thing open so a to go order or delivery are your two options.Their empanadas are absolutely fantastic- the chicken one has tiny chunks of chicken with cheese and it just melts in your mouth. The guava and cheese is a classically incredible empanada as well that I have to get every time- there's no other option but TO get it. They have juices and smoothies as well- and predictably the guava one is fantastic, though they have other fun options like mango, passionfruit, and more. Their chicken and rice is really good and a lot of the entrees come with fried sweet plantains- those are uniquely wonderful. I really do love and recommend this place!"

Pollo Ala Russa was my choice with Yuca and Caldo soup.The chicken was breaded and juicy, with small peas in a light very flavorful sauce. I really enjoyed the collard green soup with beans. It was something new for me to try and it made me happy. "Great place that's been in business for over 38 years. Located in a strip mall as part of a gas station, they have cool decor with so many different types of sodas displayed on the walls. They have a counter where you order your sandwich or salad and they make it, you pay for it and there's about 8 tables inside to sit at inside. They have one of the best Cuban sandwiches and have a fun challenge to see if someone can eat a 36 inch Cuban sandwich. I had the Greek salad with delicious dressing, nice and fresh.
