We loved perusing all the fun gift items from funny mugs to astrological soap.I saw on their online menu that they had a lot of loose leaf tea options, but in person they said they are trying to lean away from tea so they now only offer hot green tea and iced black tea. I got the unsweet black tea (which came in a Joffrey's plastic cup).We sat for awhile with our drinks and then I ended up ordering the breakfast plate. It was eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It was all good, a classic so no complaints there!"

"My girlfriends & I have been here a few times over the last year, mostly when it was Uncle Fats. This location is perfect for us because we are coming from Land O'Lakes and Town & Country. Now, it's Tom's Tavern, and they've made some changes. But this is still a fun spot for our casual girls nights!A few caveats: Tom's Tavern has a much smaller menu and no sangria. But we found lots of options on the new menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. I was happy to see they still have tater tots, and my girlfriends enjoyed their wings. Plus our server created a decadent cocktail for one of us with peanut butter whiskey, Bailey's & banana liqueur (a variation of an Elvis shot). We enjoyed tasting the first one so much that all of us ordered it next round! For my meal, I decided on the chicken tenders, which came with either potato salad or cole slaw, and choice of fries or tots. Unfortunately, the potato salad was served in a plastic container smaller than the dipping sauce cups. It was thick & tasty but I'm not sure why the portion size was so tiny! That aside, my tenders & tots were perfectly deep-fried, and I loved the house-made honey mustard & ranch sauces. This bar food is on point! Note, Tom's Tavern is suffering from a slim staff, as so many restaurants are. Luckily we were not in a hurry so we didn't mind. The two servers were definitely hustling all night, working all the tables.Tom's Tavern still hosts outstanding local live music. On our recent Friday night visit, JT Curtis & the Florida Scoundrels took the stage at 9pm for several long sets of mostly country music. This intimate venue is such a fun place to see talented musicians!Of course we'll return to Tom's Tavern. The location is convenient, plus they have tons of parking available in the plaza. The vibe is like a dive bar, but much cleaner & with better music.Edited to add the 5th star... Since posting this review, we have visited again. Service is still not speedy, but our food was delicious and our waitress remembered us & our custom cocktail!"

If you like enjoying your Funky Buddha with Bavarian Pretzels with Beer Cheese and the Cheers - "where everyone knows your name" feel this is the place for you! And they've got a great selection of bourbons like Macallan and Woodford Reserve! Andrea will take good care of you and make sure you don't leave thirsty! And for funsies Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays you can play Shoot Your Shot and try to land a basket from the rooftop bar! If you make the basket (unlike me!) - you win shots for the whole bar!! I met lots of happy patrons at the bar, a few fun regulars and a few staycation-ers!! This spot will fast become a neighborhood hang! If you're in the area or looking for a place to get away for the weekend- def check out the Skybar Rooftop Bar at Residence Inn at Wiregrass! Side note- right now the rooftop bar is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. But always call ahead so you don't hold hours against a brand new establishment in a review cause that's not cool ;)"

"My home is in Highlands County and the biggest restaurateur in the county owns three wildly diverse restaurants and this is one of them. I've eaten here many times, but this time my meal was exceptional!Arriving- This place is out in the boondocks of Avon Park! Trust your GPS to get you started. Once you are closing in there is excellent signage. Of course, you're parking at the clubhouse and there is a decent lot. Watch out for golf carts!Atmosphere- This is a golf club restaurant that is open to the public. It's a big, bright, airy place with two large rooms and a beautiful bar. As many of the customers are just off the golf course, it's very casual. It has quite a few TVs for catching a game but it's definitely not a sports bar. Customer Service- Our server was a bit of a mix. She was very new, very nice, but lacking in knowledge. With a little time, I think she'll be great.Food- A combo of unique and classic American fare. You've got your burgers, chicken parm and alfredo dishes. There is a selection of flatbreads that are awesome, and a giant pretzel served with warm beer cheese that is incredible to share!I was on a mission. I had seen an 8 oz. skirt steak with chimichurri on the menu. It's not often I see chimichurri and I was drooling. I paired it with some fries and looked forward to an amazing lunch.It was out in good time. For a lunch plate, it was a very nice presentation. The nicely seared steak was coated with chimichurri with some additional served on the sided. The pickled onions were a nice touch. The fries were beautifully cooked.The steak was fantastic and a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri was bursting with flavor and the fries were exceptional!The meal was an easy five stars, but the service was a bit off. I'm going with four stars and a strong recommendation to get the skirt steak!"

My friend loves their pulled pork, so we split the pulled pork sliders and he got wings too. The dry rubbed smoked wings were really tasty, and I love when wings aren't greasy. The fries were nice and crispy, and you can't really go wrong with waffle fries! I liked the pulled pork a lot! Their sweet bbq sauce was delicious. Really zero complaints. Prices aren't crazy either. Solid spot for elevated bar food. Bathroom was a little questionable, but once again it was a really busy Friday night."

Honestly, between the name and the look from outside this is never a place that would catch my eye, but I'm glad that I decided to try it one fateful day.Everything I've tried has been so high quality. In my most recent visit I got salmon pasta, and the salmon was cooked to perfection, it was marvelous.The service is good and everyone is friendly, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating options. You can make reservations, which is probably recommended for when they get busy. And inside their bar area is pretty cool too. Again, so unexpected from just a glance at the outside, but don't be fooled by this book cover, because the inside is certainly more than meets the eye!"

Very chill place to have Sunday brunch with some simple delicious food and AYCD mimosas (while watching the games if you care). We've been a few times and Haley is an extremely attentive server, as is the other staff. Very helpful and never let's a drink get too low whether it's mimosas or water.We usually get standard egg-type breakfasts but they have a seasonal soup right now (November 2024) which funds would go toward benefiting a great agency - Metro Ministries. Some leek soup. Looks like a standard soup but DELICIOUS. Definitely try it."

They even let us try one of their seasonal drinks, a pumpkin beer, but the Margarita won.It seems like everyone enjoyed their meal: steak, chicken, and flatbread. We did love our desserts. In general, we had a great time, and the ambiance was nice.I had a 50% off my appetizer for checking in, which was a bonus.I will definitely come back!"

"I have been patiently waiting to leave a review for my first experience at Tchotchke and PLEASE know that this review is coming from a place of earnest feedback, a passionate local and someone who was really rooting for the "comeback" of a great family friendly place following Munch's exit.I want to start with the positive: loved the staff "uniforms", jimmy buffet style shirts. It made for a friendly and upbeat arrival. I love the decor as well. Very clean and diner-style. I *did* enjoy my meal, but.....We ordered two of the same exact dishes: two eggs, sliced tomatoes, toast and 2 slices of bacon. Additionally, two drip coffees.There is absolutely no situation where I could ever justify us walking out, after tip, having spent $54 on a basic breakfast for two people, in a low to moderate income area on the south side of town. When we received our initial bill, we actually thought it was a mistake. We came to find the bacon cost extra but is conveniently labeled on the menu in a font much smaller than the rest of the menu. Five extra dollars each for bacon? Sheesh! But fine. FIVE EXTRA DOLLARS EACH FOR SLICED TOMATO?! Absolutely not. Four dollars each for basic, drip coffee?! This isn't Starbucks...Come on guys. This is just irresponsible. Take at look within a three mile radius of this restaurant. It's honestly insulting. Who are you advertising to? Do you actually WANT nice families from the area to be able to afford a meal here? I can't even imagine the average local popping in to grab lunch at the counter for less than $25 and that's just ridiculous for a DINER.I'm so disappointed. Another local restaurant price-gouging its REAL LOCALS. Would I expect this north of 5th st south? Yes. But here? Honestly, it breaks my heart. I hope you will take this review into account. Please find a way to adjust your menu prices. The locals WANT you! But do you want the locals?"

"I love out of the way private places and this one has been around for decades so off I went. You'll find it on Route 60 if you are blowing through Lake Wales but to hell and gone east from the main part of town.Atmosphere- It's a big rectangular box divided into a restaurant and a bar & lounge. The restaurant side has quite a few booths and tons of four-top tables. The décor is sparse and has that Old Florida feel. Everything is spotless.Adult Libations- Full bar with all the basics. Nothing fancy. You're drinking here because you feel the need for some alcohol, not a trendy IPA or specialty drink.Food- The menu is a two-sided laminated sheet of American comfort food. You'll recognize everything there. I went with the hamburger steak dinner and I could choose two sides from a long list. I went with a garden salad and mashed potatoes and it cost me $9.Pro-tip #1- This place is legendary for their Friday night prime rib. Folks line up for it starting at 4 pm.Pro tip #2- The have decent Wi-Fi but you'll need to ask for the password. I'd tell you but then I'd need to kill you!My small salad came out quickly. It was very fresh but also very plain. All iceberg lettuce. My mother would have made this salad fifty years ago. My entrée came out in good time. The accompanying roll was warm and came with a tub of mystery spread which I detest. I'm a real butter kind of guy. The bowl of mashed potatoes was enormous and enough for two. The gravy was weird. The consistency was off, and it was fatty and flavorless. The next time I'd go for fries. The hamburger steak was moist and flavorful and covered in perfectly cooked fried onions. Except for the gravy this was a fine meal for the price.Customer Service- Beyond exceptional! I had the daughter from a mother-daughter team. She was on the ball and cute and incredibly sincere. I couldn't have asked for anything more.If you are looking for nothing fancy comfort food along with an adult libation, this place will definitely meet your needs. I'll be back to try the prime rib. I'd go 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up because of the awesome customer service!"

Our order consisted of The Big Frank breakfast special, which did not disappoint, with its skin on potatoes fried with onion and the fluffy biscuits and gravy stealing the show. The French toast was very yummy as well, and admirably priced at $8 for 3 generous pieces. Our waitress was friendly and fun, and although this Valentines day was a crazy busy day for the Old Diner, she made a point to come back several times To check on us. Great food! Great service! "I ordered Dickey's to go for dinner because I was having a barbecue craving and it hit the spot! I ordered the sliced brisket with spicy barbecue sauce. The brisket was tender and juicy. They didn't shy away from adding some fatty bits and that was the best. The spicy barbecue is not spicy but complimented the meet well. I got the one meat plate that came with a roll, two sides, and your choice of onions or pickles. I got the pickles and chose the Cesar salad and mac n cheese. These individual sizes were enough and I decided to try the potato salad too. All the sides were good. I also got the brownie/cookie dessert and it was good! I enjoyed my Dickey's meal."

The cattle outnumber the people and so don't the goats. If your GPS talks it might say "What in the world are you doing?" Don't be put off by the dirt parking lot.Despite all the jokes this is one fine place for breakfast. The smiling hostess will seat you at the table with the red & white checked tablecloth. The menu will have all the expected basics. The Special = your choice of eggs, potatoes, meat & bread which might be a homemade biscuit for a whopping $4.79! There are also tons of other choices. Of course your big mug of coffee will be kept filled.The neighboring conversations will likely include the latest gater sighting. Of course the trials and tribulations of the locals will also be dissected.This is small town America at its very best and despite all the jokes you will absolutely feel comfortable here. Highly recommended! BTW- Cash only. Those newfangled charge cards are only for the city slickers."

For a crab place, you need time and patience for little meat. But I like it. There is not many table in the restaurant. As a result their take out is popular. We got two snow crabs and 5 shrimp with garlic sauce. They do give a little more leg for us. The sauce really get inside the meat. Very juicy. The shrimp is fresh and easy peeling. It accompanied with potatoes and corn. The snow crab leg long enough and good chamber meat. We do not need to wait long. Food is at the high range but worth the money."
