This is definitely more of a community than a gym.I signed up for a membership at the JCC North and we get four free passes a month to go to this JCC. I really wish it was closer, because I looked at the schedule of exercise classes and wow there are a lot. They are at all hours and all different types. It's phenomenal. The day I went there was some sort of coffee happy hour happening with coffee and food. It really looks like they're trying to build a community here, which is great. The woman working the front desk was so friendly. They have locker rooms that have keypads on the locks, which made them really easy to use. The towels are great and they have blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, the standard stuff. At 5:30 p.m. on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. The gym is on the smaller side, it wraps around the indoor track/basketball court, but for the amount of people there it doesn't seem small at all. I walked on a treadmill and used the free weights. I passed by the cafe, which had a small but mighty looking menu. I would definitely stop by and grab a bite here. I've also attended a gala and a conference here before and I found them both well done. There's tons of parking, with a guard (only one entrance off of Howard).

Do not join this community center. If you want to effectively use their gym facilities. Every day members of this community center sit on the workout machines and conduct private conversations with other members or waste time on their mobile devices not working out on the machines while sitting on the machines or benches, preventing other members from being able to use the machines. Additionally, if you want to hear lots of private conversations via mobile phone, you will have the opportunity to listen to rude members of this community center talk on their phones in the gym. Even though there are signs everywhere, asking members not to conduct private phone conversations on their mobile device. It is very frustrating that I pay for a membership when I cannot use the facilities due to rude people sitting on workout machines or benches while they surf the Internet on their phones or have phone conversations while not using the machines they are sitting on, preventing other members from being able to use the weightlifting machines.Additionally, the staff of the community center does nothing to prevent this from happening.

Great gym facilities, beautiful changing rooms, large pool and lap pool with cabanas, basketball courts and lots of great programs to choose from. Our family loves the pool area on the weekends and I love all the different classes offered. From Pilates, martial arts, yoga and dance they have a class for anyone looking to get into a fitness routine. We recently signed the kids up for summer camp because the offerings looked fun and educational. Everything in the gym always looks well taken care of, clean and equipment is easily paired with your electronics. Glad to be apart of this gym and all of its great offerings for the family

The gym is amazing with new equipment. The cancel policy and customer service is not amazing. They require one months notice to cancel membership - I did this in writing. However you have to fill out a specific form to cancel and fax it back. I did this but yet the Email was not enough to cancel and then they lost my scan/fax and still charged me an additional $89 - this equals 3 $89 payments for gym services I cannot use! I moved from the area that is why I left the gym - leaving behind an additional $300 in training I never used ....but that was not enough for them. They insulted me with their policy and condescending tone. I provided them an Over 30 days notice. They said come back use the membership - not listening to the customer again - I can't I do not live in The area!!!!Don't get stuck like me move on the gym is not for anyone without deep pockets - just terrible service this is how they treat "family" not cool!

This state of the art building used to be the old Armory. 30 million dollars were put into transforming this historic building to what it is now. It opened 3 years ago, after massive renovation. It's partly event center, partly gym and they also have community classes such as art, bridge, lectures and more. It is truly beautiful inside and out.Stuff is professional and friendly. A big plus is a huge area dedicated for parking( entrance is only through Howard St). There is security 24/7. You need must bring your ID if you want to come in. Outside there are 2 pools. The big one is 25 yard8 lanes heated pool, the smaller one is heated as well. There is inside/ outdoors cafe close to the pool. The fitness area is very nice and clean. They offer about 100 classes a week starting at 5.45 am during the weekdays. They offer yoga, Pilates, stability, cycle, TRX, seniors, strength, boot camp and many more classes. There is also walking area around the second floor which is a big plus.Lockers, spa and showers are downstairs. Membership is around 50$- 60$ a month I believe. This place is such a gift to the community. When you become a member you become part of this big family. So many people formed right relations here. Nothing like any other gym in Tampa.Give it a try. It's a gem.I

While this place is very nice and clean, I joined for about two weeks before freezing my membership. The reason is the pool. I joined for the pool. It's nice, clean, and heated in the winter. What they fail to mention to you is that while there is a heater, there is no chiller. What this means is the heater will kick on to bring the pool to 82 or so, but there is nothing to keep it at that temp. So if it's sunny out, you're now doing laps in a 90 degree pool. It is gross. I had to cut workouts short because it was too hot. They say they want to cater to the the lap swimmers but they need to regulate the temperature better if that's ever going to happen. The staff is friendly enough and they keep it clean, but I'll probably end up canceling my membership.

I liked. It's great that they repurposed the building and are helping rejuvenate and area if town that needs some help.Website is a good resource for membership unfo. They do arts classes and have a pottery, mixed media and glass studio. Pilates. A well stocked cardio and workout gym. A lil slim in the free weights maybe if you're a power lifter like I am. But to get fit in nice clean new place it's pretty nice. Full basketball court and fitenss track around above it. Family friendlyPrivate parking lot. Entry seems to be on Howard although.there is a gate on the other side (Armenia). Everyone was friendly. JT in the gym will get you set up. Hooah!!!

We love coming here! It is clean, welcoming, peaceful, and has excellent options for working out: lots of group classes, two large pools (one for the little ones) and a hot tub, a splash pad, a perfect gym with an indoor walking track, and a full size basketball court. There is a children's care center and group swim lessons for kids as well. And the building is a work of art.

It's not only a gymnasium it's a family center. I've been in many gyms in my life BUT none can compare to JCC. Very friendly people that make you feel special. All areas are super clean and fantastic hours to attend at your convenience. Tip my hat to JCC...
