The north course wasnt kept up very well. Greens were awful. It has the potential to be a good course. We had a great day spending time as a family.Maybe the south course is in better shape?

I have played several rounds of golf here at Bay Palms South course on MacDill AFB and this has to be the worst experience I have every had at any golf course ever in my 10 years of playing this game. Now it is because the mosquitoes were relentless, I mean just horrifying is an understatement! I have to have over a 100 bites throughout my body. There was no way of concentrating on the game when these irritating creatures are attacking you, just no rest from them at all. I fought the good fight for 18 holes but they ultimately won the battle and I have the scars to show! The golf course has ample parking for its golfers. They have a very nice pro shop with lots of gear and clothing for sale. They also have a golf simulator that you can use for a fee. The snack bar called the 8 Iron Grill has a full menu to satisfy your hunger. The course is in fair condition considering we are finally getting rain once again. It will take time for the bare spot throughout the course to fill back in. I found that there were lots of areas where you had thin or no grass on some lies. The tee boxes need grass and some of the greens need work as well. Some pros and cons.Pros:Convenient location, easy access with plenty of parking if you have base privileges. The staff here in the pro shop are friendly. No starter today, we just went out to the 1st tee box.The golf carts are new and in great shape, no GPS (so sad) , very nice ride! The practice areas here are good, nice putting green with lots of room. Driving range is available. The chipping green is good size to work on your short game. There is also a beverage cart and saw it several times throughout the round so there is no reason to go thirsty during the day.Ball cleaners were available throughout the course.Cons:Carts don't have GPS, they do have a geo tracker so you can't drive too close to the greens, the cart will let you know!Oh, did I say anything about the stink'in mosquitos, they were the worst ever!I normally would not give such a low star rating but the mosquitos situation demands it!

I love coming here to play at the MacDill AFB!The Bay Palms South course is always in good shape, especially the roll on the greens! Very opposite of a lot of the public courses in Tampa. Highly recommend coming here to play if you're visiting the area for a few days. The scenery on Bayshore Blvd overlooking the bay is a great sight on your way there. Sincerely, Your Midnight Croaker

Really enjoyed my session of hitting golf balls on their range. $5 will get you a full large bucket of balls and the venue was uncrowded, the venue was in great condition and the overall vibe was professional and courteous. With the weather in the mid-60s, sunshine and the beautiful location adjacent to the water on MacDill AFB, it's a great spot to swing the clubs!

It's a shame the course is in such rough condition. The South Course track is very interesting and scenic, but evident very little is invested for maintenance. The teeing ground is a mix of dirt, sand and weeds. The fairways are very bumpy, and the greens are so slow I'm thinking they run about a 6 on the Stimp meter. Definitely not worth the $55 fee.

Too expensive for what the course looks like. The grass is completely dead, from the tee box to the greens. The management staff is less than friendly as well. Only have it one star because it is required for the rating. -1 would be more accurate.

If you are military and want to play golf. Or, if you are military and want to have some non- military friends play golf with you. Check out MacDill AFB Bay Palms Golf Course. You can also play the North 18 hole course, but it still needs some work to bring it up to the excellence of the South Course. You will enjoy the golf course and the scenery.
