I have driven by Azucar Sandwich Shop for over a year and never noticed it. After seeing the reviews on Yelp, I decided to stop and give it a try. A nondescript building with a small entry, an order counter, a cooler and an ATM. Traffic was light but steady, consisting of blue-collar workers grabbing a quick meal. The service was excellent as was my sandwich. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich: a rather small cutlet, pounded flat, grilled and topped with lettuce, tomato and thin sliced onions, finished with mustard and pressed on Cuban bread. Delicious!Everything is cooked-to-order and cash only. Definitely a small business providing good food at a decent price. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

Awesome hole in the wall!!! Awesome food- even my picky "I only want chicken" (usually nuggets or tenders) kid loved it! Cubans are authentic and CHEAP like $5!!! Pulled pork sandwich- awesome, and the potato ball was good, I've had better, and I have had worst. Food was super fresh made. Looked like lots of people call in orders and are regulars. Definitely don't pass this place up!

This amazing little Sandwich Shop has BIG flavors going on in its kitchen! I had the pleasure of trying there grilled steak sandwich and Cuban sandwich with all the fixings and they were amazing! As I pulled apart my sandwich from the middle cut, I had just the right amount of cheese pull. The bread is to die for! I also tried there white rice with chicken stew and it was heaven on a plate. The staff was very nice to include the restaurant's owner Ms Cuca...who ave us a genuine smile as soon as we walked into the store. This place is a Latin Mom and Pops spot that you must visit for authentic Latin cuisine.

I've been going here for years. It's always amazing. Quality food at a great price. I get the steak sandwich and it's so flavorful. I also love love love the chicken empanadas. They are fantastic. If you don't have cash they have an ATM so come cash in hand. They have a pretty good size menu, you can also call ahead and order.

While the exact recipe for the perfect Cuban is a hotly debated topic amongst many a Cuban and non-Cuban alike, this place unequivocally takes first place in my book. Located in the low-key neighborhood of Palm River - Clair Mel southeast of Tampa, as synonymous with its large Hispanic population as it is with its mom-and-pop sandwich shops. Azucar's strong suits include it's cleanliness, fast and courteous service, and excellent food. This place is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall, as many a friend has passed it unbeknownst to its existence. I have been visiting this place for the past nine years, and have never had a bad experience. They have many different ethnic food options, including various sandwiches, meat pies, deviled crabs, smoothies, cafe con leche, and the aforementioned Cuban (I recommend it all the way, pressed btw). Unlike most Cubans, this one always comes out hot, juicy, and guaranteed to fill you up... The best part, is they're only $3.65! I've tried a number of the other local sandwich shops, but I keep coming back to this one -and most likely you will too, once you've tried this awesome place!
