It's hard for a Mexican restaurant to stand out in any way- most of them have similar vibes, similar food, same old same old. But Azteca D'Oro has done a great job being unique in the way they have decorated and set up their aesthetic.From the cool, medieval looking chandeliers to the paintings and the way the bar is so grand looking with cases of high-end, rare alcohol bottles. I'm a fan. On one side of the restaurant there are a lot of big tvs as well, so you could come hang out to watch a sports game and have a great time.The food was decent, it wasn't outstanding but it was good and enjoyable. I got the molcajete which literally could be shared between 3-4 people on its own. They have fun drinks too, as Mexican restaurants do- the paloma was a highlight.We did have great service- I'd give that part 5 stars to our waitress Claudia. Overall, I'd come back for sure, even just to enjoy the chips, salsa & queso.

When we just moved to the area from SE Florida, our family became so excited to see that our favorite Mexican restaurant was up in Central Florida. We've since eaten here multiple times, with the service gradually declining each time, despite generously tipping.Last night, (12/19), was probably the last straw for us. We recognized that there were many parties going on and knew immediately to be patient. We were seated almost immediately with drink orders taken shortly afterward. We placed our food orders and sat patiently as a family, playing random games on our devices.Hubs and I received our first drink orders in a timely fashion, and proceeded to wait patently for our food and converse. To our back left, there was a holiday party that was wrapping up their celebration. They had been laughing and enjoying themselves abundantly (to put it nicely) while we were placing our order. The waiter and ourselves were having a hard time hearing and understanding one another. We carried on and tried to make the best of the situation. Tis the season!Well, the crowd started to get louder and louder. We started noticing that our waiter was getting crabbier and crabbier as the joyous celebrations of the party behind us grew higher in volume. Other patrons started glancing more and more towards the table behind us. The manager started hanging out around their table more and more, failing to attempt to keep the volume at an acceptable level. We finally received our food, noticing that our waitress failed to listen to our requests for omissions to onions and no refried beans on two of our entrees.We didn't mention it, as we thought it was due to the noise level.When my husband and i requested a second round of drinks, the waitress proceeded to groan and trapped off and disappeared for close to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the table behind us grew louder and louder, to the point where I started to grow angry, due to over stimulation of the noise level. The waitress returned to the table behind us, attempting to wrap up their check... We were still waiting on our second drink orders that were still taking way too long from the bar.The waitress was ignoring our table and tending to the party behind us and others, but kept forgetting a second order of beer.When had to single her out nicely to ask for our check. She gave us a dirty look and said something unintelligible to our 16 year old son, stomping off. The finally brought out second drink orders, along with the check. She asked if my oldest wanted a box due to having the majority of his food left. (He hated refried beans, & how asked they be omitted from the entree.) we declined and she proceeded to give my son ANOTHER dirty look.We neatly stacked our plates, clearing stray food off the table and neatly placed cutlery on the plate, so that she wouldn't have to do it.Between the server and the annoying crowd behind our table, and the quality of the food being less than it has in the past, we're going to venture to Lakeland for our other restaurants instead of going to this location in the future. Manager: do better at not over serving your patrons! The people behind us were intensely intoxicated and were obnoxious and loud!! I know we were not the only customers who were upset about the outbursts of the other patrons.There just should be some boundaries to the noise level.

It was a little rough getting into the parking lot, but it was worth it. Waited a little long for someone to seat me...even though I was the only person at the hosts stand. Once I was settled at my table, I didn't have to wait long. I gave the server my complete order and off she went. Very pleasant, but quiet.I didn't wait too long for my food, but oddly enough, I waited even longer for my drink. The server actually noticed I had not received my drink when she was bringing my plate to me and turned around and grabbed it.The plate was pleasing to look at, and the tacos were full. I enjoyed the chicken, it was season just right. The rice and beans were both well prepared, not overdone and full of flavor. I will reevaluate three stars when I return for another visit, today, the service was just a little off. Maybe next time it will be a better day. I truly enjoyed the food though

So good our server was great. We ordered Ceveche we love to come get for Ceveche , the fish tacos were excellent. We enjoyed our family meal together ; this was at Patrick's day. Most delicious .

We decided to try Azteca D'Oro because our usual Mexican restaurant had a 30 minute wait. We called this place, which was just a few minutes away, and they said they had no wait. We drove over and got seated right away. At the very top of the first page of the menu there is a photo of the chips and salsa with a note that the first serving is free but additional servings are charged for. I have eaten in many Mexican restaurants and NEVER seen a charge for refills of chips and salsa. With four of us, this small serving did not last long. I requested to have just a small sample of the soup on the menu and our waitress denied the request, which again, has never been a problem at any other restaurant I've been to. She was not very friendly and mostly curt. We ordered our meals and they arrived promptly by someone other than our waitress but we realized we had no utensils or plates and had to wait a good 5 minutes, all the while sitting right under a cold AC vent that cooled our food pretty quickly. Another server passed by, so we asked her for silverware and plates, which she happily brought for us, along with a refill of the chips at no additional charge. The food was just okay for being more expensive than our usual establishment. We decided we would not return to this restaurant.
