Too much fun for a real photo
The instructor was in the middle giving instructions on how to throw different ways
Happy group of axethrowers.
Ziggy Sawdust would have been proud...if he had actually won the finals and not just the semis.
So much fun!
The finale, thank you so much Mad Max!

No doubt the popularity of axe throwing is on the rise. How hard could it be? Wood on a wall, cold hard steel whirling through the air, burying a razor sharp blade deep in the grain and resulting in lumbarlordum for all to appreciate. As such, I believe it be important to be critical of such establishments because there are many out there and it's not an inexpensive evening. Overall my experience here was pretty alright. Got the job done, but nothing to brag about. Pros: award winning personalities of the staff. Overall very polite and happy to be there. Made the intimate experience enjoyable Cons: very small establishment. Some places have hatchets and axes but due to short lanes with little swing space the full size axes were not available. No alcohol or any kind and none allowed on the premises. I get it. Licenses are expensive and combing weapons and drinking usual a cocktail for disaster however some axe places do it anyway and the populace loves it. Hard to compete otherwise in todays culture. Difficult to find location overall. Tucked away on a poorly lit road in an even worse lit almost abandoned appearing shopping plaza up an unmarked stairwell, over the bridge/thru the woods and axe throwing you will go. Had to circle back a few times and still had the feeling I was about to find myself on the wrong end of an axe wielding by a murderous psychopath. Summary: if you live in the west shore area and you have an hour and about $30 a person to kill then not a bad time but would definitely bring friends because you likely will fill the building with about a group of 8. I think if these guys take their business to a better location they definitely have the enthusiasm to make it great.

We had a blast here for a team building event. The gentleman who taught us how to throw axes was patient and kept us safe at the same time. At first, throwing the axes and getting them to rotate properly and stay anywhere near or in the target was quite challenging. But, as the competition started heating up, the bullseyes started coming again and again! Finally, my misspent youth chopping wood for the stove every day with an axe came in handy! I can do this!I am the Lumberlord and axe life is good!

We had a friend's birthday celebration there. The instructor that we are going to call "Master Splinter", (not her real name) was really good. She taught us how to throw the axe and after that we played some games that got our competitive spirit flowing. When you first walk in, there are two separate rooms in an open environment with two wooden target boards in each room. The rooms are divided by 2 chain-link type fenced windows. The smell of wood is abundant but not overpowering. There are lots of wooden planks since they are constantly updating the targets as the word splits. They seem to have taken every precaution for safety and for CDC guidelines (covid19) everyone is required to wear a mask. Only 2 people are inside the room throwing at one time, the rest watch from outside the room where there is an open area and plenty of seating.Overall fun experience and great idea!

Very cool experience! We snagged a Groupon to bring our crew of 6; we added to another party of 6 that was also signed up for the same time. Our Axe guide showed us techniques for safety and how to execute a proper throw, all while playing competitive head to head games with great tunes playing in the background. We all had an "Axe Alias" on our nametags, there was a list to choose from or you could make your own. Every single aspect of this experience was fun and enjoyable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

This place was a blast! So much fun playing the different games they came up with and trying to win the prize at the end! (Shhh it's a secret!)Went here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we loved it! Got a Groupon with great pricing for a 90 mins session. It was fun throwing trick shots at the end of the session too. We didn't know everyone in the group but our team was pretty fun! As for the facility - it's a little toasty in the building FYI so wear shorts and a tank I'd suggest (closed toed shoes of course). I would have liked to have a little more air conditioning in the building but it was bearable. They have two axe ranges and if you don't schedule with a big group you are placed with strangers. Definitely a fun group event idea or date night! Go check it out!

So much fun!!! Great date night idea, or if you have a group to go with too! I bought a 90 min Groupon for two. From the outside it's in a office building, and you have to go up a set of stairs. But when you walk in it has two areas for ace throwing for a total of 4 bullseyes. It's a small room. When you walk in you sign a waver and choose a new name.. no real names in axe throwing! I chose bad-axe hehe.We were split into two groups (total of around 15 people were in our session) Our wonderful instructor Splinter showed us how to throw and then we had time to do some practices! That took about 30 min for our group of 8 to cycle through. The rest of the hour experience was playing games such as horse, blackjack and the final elimination rounds. It was a blast. My fiancé was crowned the lumberlord! Can't wait to throw more axes in my future- LOL!

My friends and I had such a wonderful time at Axe Throwing Tampa! Our instructor, Chocolate Lumber was so great to work with. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a rainy Sunday then throwing axes with your friends. Make sure to be creative with your axe throwing names - we were Tap that Axe, Sweet Axe, Tight Axe, Dumb Axe, Pain in the Axe and Laxeative! We will definitely be going back!

Very cool spot for a date night learning to throw AXES! I first found out this place from things to do on Groupon for 1.5 hr session for 2 for $42. Usually it's $35 per person without Groupon, so you save almost 40% off. On there website you need to reserve your time spot usually range from early afternoon to last slot at 8 pm. I would call ahead to reserve and confirm. My experience to always confirm with a company, so they know who you are, because Groupon does not always tell companies whose coming to these things. Also usually they need minimum of 4 ppl of each time slot for axe throwing, mostly it's for the axe throwing games.Once you confirmed your reservation the location is along the same plaza where they have Domino's pizza and a random car wash. The plaza not well lit and there is no visible sign, so easily missed driving to this place. After you find this place they have Axepert who will show you the basics and be your guide for the evening. We learned basic two hand to one had throws, then got into teams where we played three different axe games. Overall it was very fun and unique experience.

I surprised my boyfriend by bringing him here for a fun afternoon of "lumberjack fun" that I had discovered on Groupon. The entire experience of booking the afternoon, with my Groupon, was seamless. All I had to do was email the company with my voucher code and I was set. However, be prepared to pay an additional $4.90 in taxes upon arrival to the location. The experience started off with all of us picking our "Honorary Lumberjack Names," then the lessons began. Our instructor was very thorough (especially in regards to safety) and guided us through the whole process. The instructor spearheaded games and competitions amongst the players, which made the 90-minute experience extremely memorable. We had a great time (my boyfriend probably more so than myself, because I was terrible at axe throwing and he just happened to have a natural knack for it!) This company owns the Escape Rooms that are located in the same plaza and we can't wait to check those out in the future - thanks for a great "date afternoon" Axe Throwing Tampa!* Pro Tip: make sure you bring closed toe shoes or else you cannot partake in the fun!*Pro Tip: bring your own water bottle, if you get thirsty easily, because while there is a water dispenser available, the cups are tiny!Parking: There is free parking located in the shopping plaza that the venue is located in.
