Foood was AMAZING!! Never have I ever came across a place like this. The food is amazing and cheap. You think the food would be expensive but its cheaper than your typical fast food. Place is also really clean place is amazing keep it up!!!

Delicious food and friendly people in a small mom and pop restaurant. Definitely worth your while to go there! And, their take-out is a great option for these special times.Try their Greek salad!

This is a nice little "hole-in-the-wall" discovery off Harden Boulevard in the Winn Dixie strip mall. Good diners are hard to find. Many patrons are on a first name basis and I was tickled that one was even called with the specials because they knew she loved cabbage rolls, and came right over. Unfortunately (for me) this was a Pepsi place.The restaurant is open 7 to 7 several days a week. Breakfast is all day on the weekends only. On my visit, there were 3 specials plus the cabbage rolls (sirloin cube steak, navy beans with pork sandwich, cheeseburger). They have a long list of Greek items (souvlaki looked good) and baklava ($1.89) as a dessert. Most prices were between $4 and $6.I got the "Kostas", their rendition of Philly steak & cheese. It was real, thinly sliced steak (as opposed to the Steak-ums prepackaged freezer burn flavored meat), mushrooms, green peppers, onions, provolne and seasonings of their choosing, which had a real strong thyme flavor. Not bad for a change (but I'd prefer s & p only). The meat was delicious. I chose a cherry crisp for dessert ($2.55) that was served piping hot with a butter flake crust.Service was wonderful, Prices were great. Food was yum. A good recipe for repeat customers!

I've been coming to the Athenian for about a year now. It's hidden at the end of a strip mall off Ariana behind McDonalds. This cafe serves American and Greek food. Before ordering, check out the daily specials on the board.My favorite is the Gyro and baby Greek salad combo (pictured). The Gyro meat is tender and served in a toasted pita with fresh cut veggies and plenty of tzatziki sauce. The Greek salad has potato salad on the bottom, which is just the way I like it. Other recommendations would be the Kostas (8" steak and cheese with mushrooms, peppers, and onions), the previously mentioned pork tenderloin sandwich, and the bean soup. The Baklava is Ok,but not homemade.The decor looks old and the bathrooms are serviceable at best, but you are coming here for the food. The waitresses always keep us entertained and you will see the same folks come in all the time if you visit regularly. I wish Yelp would allow 1/2 stars as this place would rate 3 1/2 instead of just 3.

Hidden gem of a local diner in a small strip center where prices are a bargain and food is great. Southern cooking mainly. Spinach pie for lunch was enough for two and included salad and a side. Homemade cobbler included for dessert Quick efficient courteous service.

This is one of Lakeland's hidden gems!Open daily from 7-2. Best breakfast in town. Awesome home fries.It's hidden and the faded sign is non existent. Venture inside, you won't be sorry!Tell Bette hello!

Completely horrible rude service. If you're not one of the old people who live around there you're going to get treated badly.

Delicious home cooked Greek specialties like Spanakipita, baklava, and gyros, Greek salad are all delicious and extremely reasonable. Friendly and down to earth staff. The perfect family restaurant.

Good food and great service,but waitress should check specials ( prices on board are not the same as on bill. Yes we will be going back.

Good, inexpensive, food. Great service.This is what a good, local, restaurant should be. It's what many chains should aspire to. It's not in any way fancy, but it is really tasty. I plan to visit again, soon.
