Abu Omar Halal - Tampa

As a lover of a good shawarma, I am so disappointed that it had to be ALL THE WAY IN TAMPA!! Seriously, this place is VERY GOOD. My only real complaint is how far away it is from me. Well, no 100% true. I like my chicken shawarma a certain way, only with the garlic sauce. I don't care for the pickles (I don't like pickles but these ones are mild) or occasional tomato. I just want my chicken and garlic sauce. With my beef shawarma, I am only with just the beef. It's good. Abu Omar delivers with delicious and fresh food each time. They do not skimp on freshness and making consistent and quality food. They do, however, have one small issue. Remember how earlier in my review, I specified how I like my sandwich? That's because Abu Omar is very hit or miss on following instructions like that. I've been here dozens of times. It's like a staple when I come to Tampa to at least make a visit if I can. So I can say confidently, that they usually mess up my order more times than not. It's fine, I can take out the pieces but it is a bit frustrating at times. I've even had it ones where they put only on one half of my sandwich the pieces so it felt like they forget half way through and didn't realize. But despite that, I will keep coming back. Abu Omar is one of the best shawarma places I've had in Florida. Now please come to Orlando or Kissimmee!I can't say much for the inside as it's small and often empty as people prefer to pick and go here. They definitely can fit about 15-20 people inside if they configure the tables right but honestly, shawarma is best enjoyed to go or back at home in my opinion.

A must try for halal food. The woman behind the counter was patient and gave an excellent recommendation. Their salad was reasonably priced considering the sizable amount of food you get.

A friend of mine took me here for the first time. The first thing I noticed was the amazing smell of the food. When I walked in I saw the meat set up to be cut in the kitchen and I was immediately intrigued. The menu had a large and clear selection of food. All together we got the following: Gyro Arabi, Beef Arabi and Chicken Arabi for all of us to share. My favorite was the chicken. It was moist and full of flavor but overall every meal was delicious. Each meal came with a side of fries, sauce, ketchup and pickled veggies. If you've never had this before PLEASE TRY IT. Not only was it one of the best tasting foods I've ever had in Florida but it was affordable too! 13 dollars for one entree meal paired with very friendly and kind service. The employees knew my friend and were kind to them and in turn kind to us as well. I really appreciate the hospitality and I can't wait to go there again.

I've received this food via a delivery platform a few times, from what I've seen inside, the location looks great. It's well lite, and looks like a fun place to be for dinner.When I've called in, the people have been very friendly and accommodating when I mentioned I submitted for the wrong item (same price). The price makes sense, and is reasonable, and the food, though not always traditional, is high quality, and makes it work. They also have good French fries. Definitely work trying, and I'd look at the menu to to see if there are any fusion based foods you would like to try. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

It is about 4.5 stars to my visit. I round them up to five. I like this restaurant because they really did a good job on food. You may need to be patient for the food because they have to cook on grille. The space is small look like take out but they do have some table and counter top dining. We got the chicken shawarma without onions and they mistakenly put it in. They did redo the wrap for us for the correction. I also have the lamb kabab. This come with six grill lamb cube. It also have grilled veggies and delicious rice to accompany the dish. I like the rice with marinated flavor. The lamb was grilled perfectly. Overall we enjoy the food. We will revisit them soon to try other dish. I will call ahead if we have grilled meat to lessen the wait time.

Food is good, the staff is very nice & attentive! I got the rice bowl with chicken, it was awesome!

Good food in this hole in the wall. Beef shawarma was pleasantly marinated and well carved. The chicken version was not to my liking (what's with the paprika being added to every chicken dish in town.?)The bread was very freshly baked next door. The dips and spreads were very good. Don't forget to stop next door and get some fresh baked cookies.

The food was very good. I ordered chicken over rice, lamb gyro, and beef over fries through door dash pick up. They didn't have beef so I got chicken over fries instead which is the same as over rice. Wish I was able to try the beef but the gyro was the best and crispy.

You want fresh, halal Mediterranean food, why waste your money when you have better options elsewhere. Why trade cold microwaved and frozen food for fresh. Here are few options close by, I have visited multiple times: Shawarma Elshami, Syrian Shawarma, Abu Naji, Taste of Yamen, Tazza Turkish, Mediterranean Grill, Petra, to name a few. The customer service is rude, store is dirty food is tasteless, even there is not certificate for halal meat!

Food and services are great, I can't wait to visit again. One of my favorite spot. The chicken and beef shawarma are my favorite
