Nice Irish vibe but with a pricey Guinness draft. I shared and really enjoyed the Irish Nachos with fresh fried potato chips. The service was above average and attentive to our needs.I plan to return. Recommended!

1916 Irish Pub 2309 W. Thonotosassa Rd., Plant City, FL 335632.5 Stars (local chain review)This local chain (three locations) is owned and operated by the partnership of Chuck Jamieson and Duke Mendel. They are relatively new to the food scene and as such, have accomplished a great deal with three locations. Kudos to them.Tabby is the bartender/server today and if she spent just a bit more time with the paying customers instead of flirting with a dude in a yellow neon worker vest, she would have been great at her job. As it was? Meh. From what I could tell there are basically two seating options here. You either sit at the bar or at a giant tables.Looking around, I could see this location was filled with grotesque misanthropes during the lunch hour. If I didn't have to stop here, I most likely wouldn't. It reminded me of a place haunted by the Sawyer family of TCM history...I did manage to lure Tabby away from her paramour to place an order for one Rebel's Reuben with a side of Pesto Parmesan Fries. Themed after the 1916 Easter Uprising in Ireland, I found the décor to be both interesting and educational. I was caught groaking at it when Tabby returned with my grub (see pics). I snapped a few pics and got to work.I turned my persnickety palate to The Rebel's Reuben first. I love a good sandwich. They can range from the simple to the complex with a plethora of flavor options. This was your typical Reuben with corned beef, German sauerkraut, melted Swiss and homemade 1,000 Island dressing on marbled rye. It wasn't bottom-of-the-barrel quality, but it wasn't top-tier either. This was sub-par and certainly not going to win any awards. The one stand-out was the homemade 1,000 Island. This was poppin' with character. If the rest of the sandwich lived up to this, it would be 4 Stars for sure.Turning my taste buds to the Parmesan Fries, I grabbed a few and stuffed them in my empty maw. The fries were bottom-of-the-bucket, frozen junk fries. They were cooked properly, but they were flavorless. Quality fries can't cost all that much more than those from the dregs of the food service industry. Step it up, Gentlemen! The Big Boy says, "This is an easy skip, especially this location."

I felt the service was just ok. Asked for two waters one with lemons and got one water no lemon. Of course Guinness on draft was nice and cold, but pretty pricey. Food was just ok, we ordered the Irish nachos. Music was also very loud and we had a hard time hearing other guests in our party.

1916 Irish Pub was a pleasant surprise in this low-key Plant City plaza. Top quality food with ample servings and above-average presentations for what you think an Irish Pub would offer.1916 was fairly quiet on a Saturday night around 5pm. There were people around but the place wasn't packed. Our server was around quick and greeted us. She was friendly and got our drink orders in. Beers were had almost all around and I had their Old Fashioned with Basil Hayden's.This place is pretty big on the inside. A stage in the front corner. Dimly lit with plenty of seating at either tables or the bar. Tons of tv's were around playing all kinds of sports. Country music was playing in the background. After the drinks came out, we got to ordering our food. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the small plate of the Traditional Shepherd's Pie. My wife ordered the grilled chicken Ceaser wrap with fries. My sister ordered the boneless wings. Also ordered at the table was the Cuban, the Rueben, The Turk, and The Quiet Man. (all sandwiches)The food didn't take super long but it wasn't the quickest. It took the amount of time I would think that a larger order of freshly made food would take. Everything came out at once and it was all hot and fresh. My Traditional Shepherd's Pie was no "small plate". This decently sized meal came out in a piping hot cast iron skillet. Layered under a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes and cheese was a well-seasoned and perfectly cooked mixture of ground beef and lamb. Also mixed in were peas and carrots. This had a nice crust on top it hit the spot. I highly enjoyed this.My wife enjoyed her wrap. While it was tasty, it seemed about as good of a wrap as any other place. The fries were seasoned with garlic and parmesan and while flavorful, they did come out rather greasy. I don't think she finished them. My sister enjoyed her wings.Looking around the table, the hearty sandwiches that were ordered seemed freshly made with top-quality ingredients. The prices here weren't the lowest in town but the servings sizes here were at least reflected in that. Besides my dad, no one finished a whole sandwich. Everyone had half left to take home. There were no complaints. As we were finishing up, a guy was unpacking his band set-up for a night of live music. We hit the early bird here for a quiet dinner but its seems later at night, 1916 come alive with music, drinks and even more good times. If you're looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere and you got a big appetite, check out 1916 Irish Pub.

We liked it. We stopped for lunch. We both ordered sandwiches. My wife ordered a Greek Gyro. Sort of surprised they had this at an Irish Pub. It wasn't as good as one at a Greek restaurant but merited a 4 out of 5. I had the 1/2 Reuben. It too was decent. Not amazing but decent. Here again, 4 out of 5. Our server (Marina) was super pleasant. She was taking care of the entire place, so service was a touch slow - but not horribleAll in all, we'd eat here again.

We were expect bar food before we arrive at this place. The restaurant look like normal bar. Not many customers during weekdays. We look at the menu and feel the items are very interesting. Not many place serve hog fish, this is one of the few I can count. I got the main dish as grilled blackened hog fish. It come with fried and the coleslaw. The portion of fish is big enough. Fish is fresh. It has good blackened taste. Our appetizers are the the Irish Stew and Aran Island Shepherd's Pie. The Irish stew serve in the sourdough bread bowl. The stew meat was slow cook in red wine and Guinness beer. It is delicious. The Shepherd pie is different than most shepherd pie I have. It serve on potatoes skin. As you can see, this is not you typical bar food. The chef has good skill. Definitely a different type of food with great restaurant standard. I will definitely come back for the hog fish.
