I came to Tamari Bar around 9:30 on a Friday night and there was no wait! I remember the hostess communicated well and was friendly!! I was waiting for my friend to order, and my waitress was attentive and still checked in frequently. She also gave me recommendations on what to get, both her personal taste and what was most popular. I followed the recommendations and got the nori fries ($5) and hellz bao ($7)! I was told the bao would be burger sized and it was a bit smaller, but still tasty and satisfying. I also got the umeshu highball ($11) which is plum sake and wine with soda. It was really easy to drink and there was no alcohol taste! For dessert we also got the matcha creme brûlée ($6) which was a unique experience for me and it was also pretty good. I saw on the desserts menu they also serve Baiten soft serve which is right next door! I like how they play a projection of studio ghibli movies and the overall vibe is pretty nice. There's kind staff and good food, though I think I would only come for the happy hour! The food is a bit pricey but it's a solid place :)

I've been here a couple times and always love the vibe! They have happy hour from 5-6 and it's definitely worth it! I came here recently with some friends for drinks and happy hour food. I really enjoyed the yuzu salt shake fries. The kaarage chicken was super juicy. If you come here for food off the regular menu, it can get a little pricey so I do recommend going for happy hour. The outdoor patio is super cute in the spring and summer and a perfect place to get food and catch up with friends :)

I love a happy hour in Seattle. Paired that with Japanese food and this choice was a no brainer. Menu (QR code) was super extensive and fun to browse through. I ended up getting:- yuzu highball ($12)- tora gozen ($28)Regular highballs are $10 during HH and the tora gozen a la carte (without rice and miso soup) was $25.The highball was delicious! Def recommend. The tora gozen set was just okay. Visually very appealing and will def make your neighbors take a second look. Bites are delicious and match the value. Would not pay more than $28!Small room in the back that's more secluded from the main space and less fun. Has a bar seating for four and three sets of tables (2 + 2 + 4).

Came for happy hour and will come back for more! I loved the happy hour tower since it gave us a chance to try a couple of different things (tapas style). Food was good, like rondo (didn't realize they were in the same restaurant family prior!). The drinks were well balanced and delicious too!

Popped in when they opened, service wasn't very attentive or great. Food timing was not great....my partner got the charashi bowl and that came out probably 10mins after the bao and wagyu nigiri. However, my tamari roll took another 20 minutes to come out, it literally came out at 5:45pm, we were seated at 5pm. I only know because I had to extend parking. Food was fine but after everything I'm not sure it was worth it.

I've been here for dinner and happy hour, and both experiences were pleasant. The restaurant is dark and busy. Try getting a reservation if you have a larger party on Fridays or weekends.Yuzu slush: icy, not too sweet, and $4 during happy hour. It doesn't melt fast and I would definitely get it again.Soft serve flight: not too sweet. The matcha flavor was my favorite by far. I would order this flavor alone next time. Yuzu and mixed berry were complete misses. Hayashi rice: cheesier than I expected and it was worth trying once.Assorted spiral staircase: so fun and pretty to try. I enjoyed the tuna the best. Tori Kara-age: very average. Nothing special about the chicken. I'll pass on this next time. Tamaribar roll: I enjoyed the fish on top and it's filled with veggies inside.

This happy hour is exceptionally. Highly recommend the Yuzu High ball. This place is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. The food is exceptional. The menu is creative and changing. Ambience is great (could work on top area lighting) but otherwise it is A+++.Service is always exceptional.I love it here and I hope everyone appreciates the calibre of food and experience this place provides. It is top notch.

Tamari Bar did not disappoint! Made a reservation ahead of time, which I would recommend as the place did fill up throughout our meal. It's a $10 deposit for a reservation (you get refunded when you arrive). We started off with cocktails: Tokyo Tea and Fuji's Fashioned. Both delicious and highly recommend! For our meal we split a pork belly Bao Bun, Chicken Katsu Curry Udon, and Dan Dan Ramen. The chicken katsu curry had amazing flavor, and perfectly crisped chicken katsu. The Dan Dan ramen was spicy and perfectly salty. The food came out super quickly as well! Cant wait to come back.

My friends and i decided to try this out after recommendations from friends. We got there right at opening (5pm) and there was just one other group ahead of us. Once seated, it definitely started to fill up. There seems to be a lot of good Japanese fusion items so we went with the Rockin' Wagyu Beef and the appetizer sampler. The Wagyu beef literally came out on a hot rock, which was cool but didn't stay heated that long. The appetizer sampler was presented well with various kinds of sushi. Overall it was a fun experience but not quite as impressed as I thought I'd be.

Tamari Bar is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable Japanese dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a haven of culinary excellence and warm hospitality. Has studio ghibli movies playing in the backgroundThe eel rice bowl is perfectly grilled to perfection, imparting a smoky richness that perfectly complements the fluffy rice and delicate flavors of the sushi. The sweet and savory sauce drizzled over the eel elevates the dish to new heights, leaving you craving more with each bite. You do not have to leave for dessert as they have Baiten connected to the shop!
