Greetings Arizona!-- this review is solely on the pollo verde tamales. The masa was very moist. 2 out of the 3 tamales a were very fresh. Paired with red salsa and chips... this was one of the best red salsa I've had in Arizona (just the right amount of kick-- a great mild salsa)This tamale is masa heavy and the filing is pretty light compared to the amount of masa. For 3 tamales came out to a whopping $9.00 after tax, which I believe is a good deal just for the simple fact the tamale was literally almost the size of a brick. The only suggestion I would have is to make the filling more heavier and the masa JUST A BIT lighter. -- I wish I took photos but I was so hungry, I scarfed them down. But the taste was fabulous and real deal Guadalajara. I just wished there was more filling inside it was so delicious!

There's no reason why this restaurant shouldn't have a 5 star rating all around. The staff is kind and quick. The ambience is soothing and traditional- a real Mexican restaurant. The food is amazing, you can't go wrong with red chilaquiles, tamales and some menudo on a chilly Sunday morning. This place is one of my favorite-family friendly restaurants. They immediately ask if we want a high chair and advised us where to sit so the air conditioning wouldn't hit our baby directly. If you know, you know. The women who come around with the food , coffee and care are so warm- they remind me of what it's like to be cared by a traditional Hispanic family. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who welcomes that nostalgic feeling.

Man this place did not live up to its reviews. My wife got the machaca plate and left half the plate. It was terrible. I got the chicken chimichanga plate and it tasted like a frozen burrito made a week ago. It was not fresh tasting. I took two bits with my fork and left it. Got a pork tamale to try since it's in the name. No flavor and very little meat. Took two bites n left it also. Nice lady asked we needed boxes I told her no. My son wet burrito was the only freshly made thing we got. Paid almost $50 bucks for nothing. Went down the road n got a torta to eat.

In our quest to find great Mexican food we stopped here and found it.I had the Machaca and eggs plate. The meat was very tender and flavorful and the eggs not too dry. The beans were fantastic, just how I like them and the rice good as well.My wife had the Cocido and she said it's authenticity perfect, home made with fresh ingredients and she fell in love with it. The servers were very kind and respectful as if it were their own restaurant. Very clean place and I will tell you that as of now, it's our "Go To" place for Mexican food. Will try other dishes another day but for now I am extremely happy we found this place.

My family & I have been going to this Mexican establishment for many years. On average about 2-3 times per year. The salsa verde used here is a bit hot for the less heat tolerant folks but is perfect to me. We decided to bring the queso fresco and crema from our home because that is what we add when we make chilaquiles. IMO, it takes them from a 95% to an absolute 100% perfection. Highly recommend this place. Nice staff everytime we go. You don't have to dress up all nice to feel comfortable here either. Feels like you are going to your Abuelita's home back on the rancho in the countryside. Well, that is my experience.
