Was excited to come here because really liked from Top Chef! The chicken was just okay in my opinion, but the vegetables were actually so good! The inside is kinda cool, but the layout can make it long wait since there is limited seating

I feel like the prices are too high for some of the portions & I wish the fuck-it bucket had more chicken than fries. They stopped serving the cheap shot & beer so it's pretty much just another overpriced place in Seattle that's just about the ambiance/aesthetic. Which, don't get me wrong, I do love, but they're selling $5 pocky boxes in a vending machine The service is usually pretty good though, never had a bad waiter & the food quality has been consistent.

Love the manga and anime vibes throughout the bar. Staff is super friendly and loved that there wasn't a long wait at all for food and drinks. Lots of classic bar food but with a twist. Fried chicken was very gingery and juicy, the hot sauce wasn't very hot and rather more sweet. The fries were my favorite, incredibly crispy and crunchy. I also really liked the potato mochi. It has a crispy exterior and soft pillowy inside. Sauce was this sweet, buttery soy sauce and everything just combined really well. Had some Sapporo and the Pokémon drink which tasted like juice hahaha and came with a diglett lol. We had a nice time and would def come back for more good vibes.

This restaurant was fully interestingly decorated with manga and graffiti.Super nice and friendly staff came to us right away after we walked in and asked to see our IDs.We scanned the menu QR code on our mobile and ordered a chicken combo and oyakodon to share among us two since it's chicken that this restaurant is famous for. When you order, you also do the tip and checkout. Their tipping suggestions started from 20% to 30%. My friend who loved deep-fried stuffs enjoyed the chicken combo, and I enjoyed the oyakodon as it had a good moist and softness. I personally feel the chicken was a bit too dry and a bit chalky as they used chicken breast. We both enjoyed the furikake fries. Portions were not big. Parking was street parking and it was not easy to find a spot on a Sat night, but that is expected in Cap Hill.

Such a good spot in cap hill! I can only comment on the drinks this time, but all of the food looked SO DELICIOUS that I know I will definitely be back for a food + drink vibe. We came for drinks on a Saturday night and were able to get seated bar style on the side. I don't remember the name of the cocktail we ordered but it had some green tea alcohol in it which sounded really unique, so I ordered it. It was delicious! Definitely had a punch to it but was still really delicious. I love the ambiance here and it seems like such a good place to catch up with friends!

Seattle, Capitol Hill. August 2023I think only in Seattle do you find Japanese ex-pats doing unique takes on their food and culture. Shota Nakajima's fame is based on his Top Chef appearance and it's reflected in the crowds that come to Taku. The "restaurant" is more like a anime plastered, distressed, divey food stand. It's saving grace is a location on a quieter stretch of Pike St, away from the weekend chaos further uphill. Everything is centered around soy and ginger marinated chicken thighs in a gluten free coating and double fried. You can get salt and pepper, bonito flake and soy, or curry added as post fry seasoning. I prefer them w no additional seasoning and hit with a spitz of lemon while they're hot. Any side and drinks are just to fill your belly. It's all about the chicken karaage.

I arrived super late in Seattle on a Thursday night and there were not many restaurants open around Capitoll Hill at this time. This place stays open pretty late so I was happy to have found Taku: a great place with yummy food- not an extensive menu late at night, but it was delicious. They are very known for their chicken and it didn't disappoint. My only small complaint was that any sauce is charged separately, which I wasn't told when ordering. Since you place the orders on the iPads they provide and I had paid with a credit card, when I asked for sauce for our French fries we needed to start a new transaction on the iPad and pay again with my cc which I thought was silly, so I ended up not ordering any. The service was warm and welcoming and the place is very cool! We'll be back!!!

My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday night for a snack and a drink. We were seated at the bar upon arrival. It is a pretty small space. You order through the QR code by your seat and your drinks and food are brought to you. Food & Drinks:I ordered the sangria, the fries and the tofu. The sangria was okay, not a ton of flavor. The fries were good, crispy and well seasoned. The tofu was fried perfectly, but it was not seasoned enough unfortunately.Service:Service was subpar and inconsistent. My food and drink came promptly, but that wasn't the case for my friends. The bartender actually gave my friend's drink away even though my friend kept asking if that was hers and the bartender didn't hear her. The bartender eventually made her drink again when asked about it. TL;DR - okay food with okay service

3.5 stars I think. We visited Taku late on a Sunday since the bar we were at had already stopped serving food. I was excited since I had bookmarked this bar, and we were able to squeeze it into our schedule! We stopped by at like midnight on a Sunday so it was understandably empty. I love the Japanese izakaya feels of the bar! It took me right back to Japan. I can imagine this being a super fun & rowdy spot when it's crowded! They have a limited late night menu.. and the server told us they ran out of chicken karaage for the night......which is what I was excited about lol. Luckily they still had chicken sando plus their other items so we basically ordered the rest of the menu. The chicken sando was super tasty - I got the yuzu kosho ketchup on the side which made it even better. I really enjoyed the oyakodon - it was on the sweeter side (which I LOVE, my bf not too much) and was drenched in the good sauce so I mostly had that. The Mac salad was just okay. I'd most definitely like to go back during regular dinner hours so I can try more of the food! Such a bummer they didn't have karaage....

What a fun find on a late weeknight! We had just arrived town and were looking for late night food. This place is very unique and had a young crowd with a true Seattle vibe. You order food and dtinks on your phone, and there seemed to be limited options the later it got. Everything we tasted was full of flavor and a couple dishes, like the tofu with veggies were on the spicier side. The roasted edemame with sauce was one of our favorite dishes. The servers worked hard and were very fast, bringing our food out in waves. There are stickers and photos covering the walls and loud alternative music plays over the speakers while you eat. My dsughters enjoyed the cocktails that came with Pokémon cards and pop rocks Jell-O shots. For dessert, visit Salt & Straw next door. The ice cream was a perfect compliment after the spicy bites here.
