this is an amazing spot to grab sushi. Although the restaurant is small and it's also intimate and has a creative vibe. The sushi is so amazing and tasty. We tried a couple of different rolls and none of them bad. If you're in Rogers park you have to try this place.

Stopped in for our third visit. (more on our second later). Came in on Thursday night and planned for 6 p.m. when street parking opens up for free directly in front of the resto past the bus stop. Nice and quiet and the chef/owner to ourselves along with to go orders. He's working solo now so he welcomes patrons outside the weekend and patience on busier nights. We got an amuse bouche of mussels with a hot sauce but not so much to overwhelm taste balance. Good temperature to avoid overcooking but not presenting something cold. Will present a little chew as expected since these are mussels and not small oysters. So we went with our favorites so far: crazy roll and futomaki, but also noticed that for both rolls - all neat six pieces, no messy end pieces. I'm guessing minimal cuts at the ends to avoid loss while gaining presentation. (no photos from our 2nd visit to compare). Tried the wawa ramen - bbq ham is leaner but doesn't present the lusciousness of the chashu even via thin slices. Plan to walk through all the ramens soon enough. We did experiment with the seaweed roll during our 2nd visit and I think we decided it was too simple and didn't leave us with a particular impression (or photo).

Ate her when the previous owners were here and was sad to see them go.The new owners and their new restaurant, takibi are more than worthy successors.I'm kind of a ramen head and it was rather cold so I gave this a shot. Solid broth, good toppings and ok pork. If you're feeling cold, this stuff warms the soul. Best ramen egg out there helps.Service is very professional and you can tell the sushi chef is passionate about his craft. Cute wallk art and very clean interior.Definitely coming back for the sushi

This place quietly appeared where a sushi spot used to be and man is it amazing. The chef put exceptional care into everything and seemed to be a one-man show. Service took a little longer but it was well worth the wait. The ramen was incredible and came in adorable bowls. The Hawaiian gyoza was the perfect flavor combos and essentially a healthy poke salad combined with fried, crispy goodness of veggie dumplings. Cute little shop with a sushi counter, window seating, and a few small tables. Great for a date or alone. Pretty sure it was also BYOB.

We happened upon Takibi after spending the day at the beach by Loyola Park. We were so satisfied with our dinner . This is a cute and small Japanese eatery right off of Sheridan Rd. We got a maki roll and the sashimi bowl. I would highly recommend the sashimi bowl as it is packed with quality sashimi. The service is so good too with a friendly staff ( maybe the owners?) that greet you when you come in and take care of you the entire time. Would come back again !

I visited Takibi on their second day of service, and I am looking forward to many future visits.I ordered the large sashimi, and the Lollipop "Out" Special Roll Tasty (fresh salmon, fresh tuna, scallion, yuzu ginger truffle). My arrival at the restaurant was warmly and graciously welcomed by both the hostess and the chef, and I immediately relaxed into the cozy yet spacious environment. While waiting for my to-go meal to be prepared, I realized that I would've equally enjoyed dining in-house; the ambiance was tranquil and peaceful, a notable contrast to the bustling energy of Sheridan Road. After hurrying home to try my food, I sampled a bit of everything. No more than three savored bites into my solitary smorgasbord? I immediately called the restaurant and offered immense gratitude for them having some of the freshest, highest-quality sashimi I've tried in the Chicagoland area. Additionally, I mentioned that the flavor combinations they presented were nuanced, yet deliberate. I also reiterated that they would see me again in the very near future. I initially made that statement prior to trying their food, as I had a feeling it would prove true; I was pleased that my hypothesis was correct. While it could be said that there are several restaurants offering similar types of Japanese cuisine in the Rogers Park area? It could also be said that they each provide a different representation of the same cuisine. I hope that Takibi finds their space within our neighborhood, as when I was at their home - and when I enjoyed their dishes in mine - I was transported to a place that felt like a different version of home.

I found this new place (maybe a new owner), and I am glad I did. It's a small and quiet place. I found out that the owner is an artist and has drawings that he drew displayed on the wall. This explains how his carefully prepared dishes are delicious and artistic. Highly recommend.

The owners of this spot retired I believe and now new owners have taken over with some much needed fresh paint and revamped menu and I must say I love all the changes...The noodle/rice bowls are fantastic and my god this place has me eating mushrooms which I'm not a big fan of but here the mushrooms have a beautiful texture and taste and not rubbery. Can't wait to tackle the rest of this menu and all the speciality sushi rolls.
