Tajima is a pretty solid Japanese spot with a good range of food and drinks. I like the Tajima Red, a spicy tonkotsu ramen with egg and bok choy. The carnitas ramen, while it sounds kind of odd, is pretty good too. The ramens are heavy, so come hungry. Starters like gyoza, edamame, and California rolls are all pretty tasty as well. Some people obsessively rave about Tajima, but it's not the absolute best ramen I've ever had. It's good, certainly, but I feel like Yakitori Yakyudori and Tijuana's Umami Ramen are both a little better, not to mention Beshock in downtown.Overall, this is a solid spot, especially if you want some nice drinks. They've got a big selection filled with specialty cocktails, a selection of Japanese whiskey, local craft beers, Japanese craft beers, sake, and wine.

Our daughter was craving ramen and we were running errands near by so we decided to stop by. We haven't been here in a few years and much has changed. More modern aesthetic and new menu. Service wise we had 4 different servers working together. One was clearly not having a good day. But guess we all have bad days. Glad my days of being bothered by anyone's attitude has long passed. And the other servers thankfully helped because our main server was really great. For apps, we had Karaage which were seasoned well, but we didn't like the batter. It would have been better if it was crispier. The texture was more like pancake. Shrimp Tempura was delicious, three thumbs up. And we also had the Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna. It was ok. Not bad, but not great. For our ramen:Me, Tajima Ramen $16 - Ok Timmy, Carnitas Ramen $16 - GoodThe baby, Creamy Chicken Ramen $15.5 - Yummy = Happy Baby girl

Tajima Ramen is known for their authentic Izakaya style menu. Their website notes the honoring of purity of Japanese taste and style. Currently, there are 7 locations including Convoy, North Park, East Village, College Heights, Plaza Bonita Mall, Tijuana in addition to Mercury location in the San Diego area. I've previously gone to the Convoy and East Village area at various times over the past few years. For the Mercury location, I had ordered via Doordash Delivery for dinner. I was too lazy to cook (context - I cook 4 to 5 times a week now). Between my roommate and I, we ordered the following:- Tajima Black Ramen - Original Tonkotsu Pork Bone Broth, Black Garlic Oil, Noodles (Chose Egg), Pork Chashu, Ramen Egg, Fried Garlic, Corn, Baby Bok Choy, Green Onions, Sesame Seeds- Creamy Chicken Ramen - Chicken Bone Broth, Noodles (Chose Spinach), Chicken Chashu, Ramen Egg, Braised Takenoko, Baby Spinach, Red Onions, Sesame Seeds- Philadelphia Roll - Salmon, Avocado, Cream Cheese, Kaiware (Radish Sprouts)- Rainbow Roll - California Roll topped with Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, ShrimpRamen is perfectly cooked. Rolls are perfectly put together. No complaints. Just plain delicious. ENJOY!

Came in on a quiet Sunday evening. There were 2 other couples in there. The server was very pleasant and helpful. Especially helpful when one of the dishes ordered was completely forgotten or took forever to be made. Over 30 mins for a basic sushi roll after all other food has already come out is a bummer but the server made it right and was trying his best! The food is good. Not great and not bad.

The first time I came here was during halloween and the seasonal vegan ramen was spooktacular. I came back with a friend because I thought this was a top notch ramen spot adjacent to convoy. The staff were really nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The lighting was dim which made it feel very intimate. I came during happy hour but didn't know until the server told us and I tried the chicken kaarage appetizer. The chicken was kinda dry and needed the sauce. The spicy ramen doesn't have much of a kick but has the peppery flavor with a little watery tonkotsu and sesame broth. Overall, the ramen is good but I don't think it's worth the price.

Our server Alex was great and why they are getting stars at all. It took 35 min for us to get our food, we were sitting at the bar. Online orders kept popping up on the screen and moving ahead of dining in customers. Which was very annoying the carnitas ramen was good.We wont be retiring and if you go in keep in mind the wait.

It's a cute restaurant with modern decor and a clean interior. The parking is a bit rough since it has a small parking lot. The service started out strong. The food was incredible. We started with the gyoza, garlic edamame, and jalapeño bomb (the feature of the month). We were very impressed by the jalapeño bomb which had creamy tuna, spicy Mayo, eel sauce in a jalapeño boat. Then we ordered the 163 roll with yellowfin tuna. We almost got a second because it was so fresh. We finished the night with a chicken teriyaki bowl that was piping hot and just the right amount of teriyaki. Unfortunately it was a super busy night and the service was lacking once rush hour started. Our drinks didn't come until our last entree and we only saw our server once when he took the order and then never again. We had to ask two different people to close out the tab.

For San Diego this is my go to Ramen Shop. I've been bringing my friends and family here for years. There is something for everyone on the menu. For my crew we usually stick to the Creamy Chicken and Spicy Sesame Ramen. Be sure to order extra noodles, so you can split some of the larger dishes for the kids. Service here is always great, very friendly staff. Leads to a very nice ambiance. Especially if you can get one of the booths. The only real challenge is this place can get pretty busy. My recommendation is to try to make it here early - especially for Happy Hour. The warm Sake is super smooth and goes great with some Spicy Ramen.

My favorite ramen spot in San Diego. The meat is tender (I am not generally a meat eater but I will eat this one bc it's just so good). The egg is perfection. The service is great. And the ramen is delicious.I know there are other great spots for ramen but this is just my personal favorite.
