Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Tahona with a group of friends. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our server was not only attentive but also incredibly patient, especially with me, as I'm not a fan of mezcal. She took the time to understand my preferences and expertly recommended a drink that I ended up loving. Despite my concerns about being a bit picky, she reassured me with her friendly demeanor and genuine willingness to help. The food at Tahona was absolutely incredible. We started with the guacamole, which was tasty, though I found the price a bit steep for the portion size. However, the wagyu tostada more than made up for it with its rich flavors and perfect texture. The quesabirria and carne asada tacos were also standout dishes, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.Overall, I highly recommend visiting Tahona. The amazing service and delicious food make it a great spot for a night out with friends.

Average food at an absurd cost.Guacamole $14 - they give you half a plate of gauc, never seen such a weird way to serve this dish.Fish taco $10 - weirdly sweet, and for that cost you only get one small tacoCarne Asada $10 - nothing special and again, only one taco for that costDefinitely would not come back for the food, the drinks however were excellent.

We visited Tahona for an early Father's Day celebration, but unfortunately, it was not the best experience. The service was incredibly slow from start to finish. It took a long time for our order to be taken, and even longer for our food to arrive. When it finally did, the food was cold and the flavors were underwhelming. It seemed like there was only one server for all the tables, which likely contributed to the delays.Additionally, the menu lacked options for entrees, and the prices were a little elevated considering the small portions. I've had better experiences elsewhere. On a positive note, the drinks were good, but that was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing visit. I hope they can address these issues because the potential is there, but I can't recommend it based on my experience.

My boyfriend booked this place for date night for us on saturday. We sat on the patio, and it took a while for our server to get to us, even to bring us water and menus. I was feeling a little impatient to add because I was quite hungry. But once our server did come by, he was fairly attentive, and our drinks and food came out very quickly. We tried a variety of their appetizers and tacos. Enclosed out our dinner with Churros for dessert. The churros were a little disappointing, just tasted like dough. But overall, I had a good experience.

My friend treated me to a nice dinner here during my last night working in San Diego for the summer. They specialize in mezcal cocktails, which after having one, I have to say is an acquired taste. The cocktail I had was on the sweeter side, but it took me a few sips before I was sold on the smoky taste from the mezcal. I wasn't mad at it though. All of the food was delicious. The corn croquetas and morita aioli and carnitas bao buns were great starters. The short rib hurrache was *Chef's Kiss* it was so tender. My friend and I ordered some churros to end our meal, the first ones came out underdone, but they were nice enough to replace them and give them to us for no charge. All in all, Tahona was a nice little spot to chill and wind down with my friend with great food.

100% love the food and the staff was also superb. But.... $9 for smal street taco is. Horrendous. You will go away hungry unkesss you want to spend a kings fortune. So.. would have e been five stars but the value is just not here for the ambience and portion size.

We went for a couple of drinks at the bar on a Saturday night at 8 and had no problem getting a seat and we could have easily gotten a tableThe bartenders were super friendly and gave their suggestions as well as describing the drinksBoth drinks that I had were really good. Tasty but not overpowering. They also have a speakeasy connected to it but you need to make reservations in advance- Oculto 477

Tahona is such a fun spot! I'd highly recommend visiting during their happy hour, where you can get a reasonably priced margarita and some appetizers. I throughly enjoyed the shrimp de la playa tostada, as it was fresh and citrusy. While the food is delicious, the portions are extremely small for the price, so I would keep that in mind while ordering.

This place manages to accomplish the impossible: it's fancy gussied up Mexican food that still feels somehow...authentic?! (not that food needs to be authentic to be good, see disclaimers in literally hundreds of my reviews if you'd like to know more about my thoughts on this)I ate in the bar here. The tacos were expensive but they were large and the ingredients were fresh. The cocktails were incredible, with many mezcal options. The selection of beers were also pretty solid. (there's a brewery across the street that sadly closed earlier than their posted hours, but I was able to drink some of their beers here!)The staff were the best part! I do do a lot of fermenting and so...it seems...do they! I make beer, cider, wine, mead, and tepache and we spent a lot of time talking about the last one. They even gave me a taste of their cloudy, partially-fermented version...it was awesome! Wish I couldn't taken a culture home with me!

I made a reservation for a friend and I and the host was very friendly and accommodating to our seating. Most of their cocktails are mezcal and tequila, but I asked for a rum drink and they made a delicious cocktail. He explained everything that was in it as he was setting it down which I really appreciate in service. The chips were good and the guacamole had great flavor. I ordered the quesabirria taco and the camarones a la diabla and both were yummy. They both had melted cheese so they were a bit heavier. I loved the ambiance as well. Street parking. I hope I can check out their speakeasy sometime!
