Finally!!! A really great Baja, west coast, Tijuana, San Diego style Mexican food place!! We are in heaven!! I don't miss too much about California living, but I have sorely missed really great Baja flavor Mexican food. It's so hard to describe to local Texans what the differences are. But this place nails it! Eric is a food aficionado and has brought every great flavor that Baja has to offer. The Carne Asada is not made from your usual skirt steak. They use a higher marble/fat content meat so it's juicier. The seasoning is phenomenal. Being true to West Coast, Mexican food, they flame grill, their meat, rather than cook it on a hot plate. If you've never had Baja flavors, it will blow your mind. If you've had it and I've been missing it, your wait is over. The ambience and atmosphere is bright and clean. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. It is a "customer first" experience all the way. The food is fresh and handmade daily - from tortillas to chips to chicarones, guacamole, and salsas!Having spent half my life in San Diego, and along the west coast of California, with many trips to Tijuana, and other awesome cities and towns in Baja Mexico, it feels just like I've stepped into a little family taco shop streetside. Do yourself a favor favor and go immediately. You'll thank me later.

Houston needs another taqueria like it needs another pothole, but it definitely needs to keep this one!I've watched this lonely little corner of a strip mall open and close several times over the years. And when I saw recently it was reopening as a taqueria, I felt a little sad for whomever was venturing down that worn path again. Swing a cat on this block and you will hit an easy half-dozen spots with admirable Latin foods of all kinds. And that doesn't count the 3 dozen other decent places to eat nearby or a dozen places (mostly chains) that need to go away entirely. Once the spot was built out, I could never see when it was open or not. Until today when I saw a family chatting outside the doors, the lights were on and heads were bobbin' inside. I knew I had to try my luck. Son Frontera advertises as offering a west coast border vibe to the mix of Latin foods along the Hwy 6 corridor. THIS especially got my attention as I spent a good number of years living in San Diego. It took a while for me to appreciate the differences in the food from my Tex-Mex enhanced Houston upbringing. Lucky for me, Frontera was spot-on!Instead of the dark, usually quiet vibe from most taquerias, Frontera was bright, with white and red tiled walls, tastefully decorated with a tasteful diner theme going on. An open kitchen showed off a smiling, dynamic but relaxed and professional cook staff. The young lady at the register gave me a moment to soak it all in before asking if I had any questions. Instead of taking a long time to consider everything I quickly picked a pork burrito, all the way, and a fresh lemonade from the barrel. I then found me a table and watched families enjoying their Sunday afternoon dinner, as I did as well. My order came to my table, along with a small plate of chips and a trio or salsas, the arbor concoction, I was advised, was especially spicy and that was absolutely correct. All were fresh and perfectly piquant. The horchata and lemonade came with free refills and I left with a smile on my face and a promise to come back soon.

This is my new favorite taco place! There's a nice variety of taco choices, burritos, quesadillas, and more. The employees were really nice and friendly as soon as we went in. And the restaurant is spacious and clean. After ordering, you get a complimentary serving of chicharron. They were super fresh and not greasy at all. We ordered several asada tacos, and they're fully loaded! Filled with plenty of meat, guac, onion and cilantro and full of flavor. Not to mention they have 3 delicious salsas (my favorites were the jalepeno and the spicy salsa.) Definitely check this place out!

While I wouldn't necessarily plan a special trip solely for this eatery, the authentic, handmade tacos make it a worthy stop if you're in the area. We came in around 8:20 and I was worried that the line would take a long wait because walking in, the line was stretched to the door. The line went by pretty fast and it just gave us enough time to figure out what we wanted to order. The staff were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They told us that there's going to be about a 15 minute wait because everything from the tortillas are prepared in house and encouraged us to dine in to have it fresh! Even though the restaurant was bustling, everything was handmade right in front of us and our order was so so delicious. I'm kind of sad I didn't have the stomach to try their churros, but at least it's another excuse to come back sooner! Thank you Tacos Frontera for taking care of us we can't wait to return!!

In my search for tacos that reminded me of home (San Diego,) I came across Tacos Frontera, a Tijuana Style taqueria. While it was a 40 min drive for me, I felt that if it would be worth it if it was what I was in search of. Tacos Frontera definitely hits the mark when it comes to creating a Tijuana ambience. From the dominant red and white color theme, to the aguas frescas to the table tops--I definitely felt that I was sitting in Baja California, especially with the great music that was playing.The meal started with chicharrones brought to the table as the food was being prepared. I had carne asada, adobada (unfortunately no trompo), and quesabirria. For me, the quesabirria tacos stood out the most. I felt that they were done right and the consome was piping hot. For me, the consome must be hot, not just warm enough. I thoroughly enjoyed the consome for dipping. If I had to knock it, in true TJ fashion they would have included a little meat in the cup. The asada and adobada were great for Houston area but I would have expected a bit more back home. If they put a little more aguacate on the taco, it would have helped, instead it was just enough for just the first two bites. I will say that it was great enough that I would easily return, even though it is a 40 min drive for me one way. They offered three types of salsas and each one served its purpose with the different meats. What I appreciated most was that the corn tortillas were made by hand. The flavor and texture of the tortilla gave me TJ vibes. However, the size of the tortilla was just a little too big for TJ style. Also, one noted difference was that one tortilla is used here, instead of two in the true style of TJ tacos (but with the size of the taco, it would have been a lot of tortilla.) That definitely does not take away from the fact that I enjoyed a really great spread of tacos.I have heard and read that this place has slow service but I did not experience that. I felt that I waited an appropriate amount of time to have my tacos served and the workers definitely were moving nonstop. That being said, even if I had to wait a little longer for my food, I still would have been happy. Lastly, something about the coke bottles being stored in an ice bin makes the coke taste better than being refrigerated. This definitely helped seal a TJ ambiance for me. It was one of the best joints that reminded me of home. Count me in to return.FIVE STARS

Just wow. Everything is amazing! I absolutely love it the speed has gotten better and the food is still absolutely delicious so full of flavor. The ambiance is always welcoming and warm. I just really if you could give this place a try you should no doubt!! And especially on top of that they're are always looking out for you and how you feel and how the food is service is 10/10!!
