Taco Del Rey

I had just had a Thai meal delivered to me that was so disgusting it was inedible. So I went to this place, having high hopes because it was right by work. When I walked in the front door, I was immediately thrown off by the prices. $17 for a quesadilla? At a hole-in-the-wall kinda place? I opted for a $16.50 chicken "super" burrito that ended up being basic Af, 6 inches long and skinny. What the hell.And to top it off, they don't even offer complementary chips! Something that WA state has got so very wrong. Super disappointed all around. Too expensive, small portions, basic taste. Not worth it at all.

Came in for lunch the other day and this place didn't disappoint! The man at the counter was so friendly and service was great. I don't have a photo of my Cali burrito because I ate it too quickly! It was SO SO SO good. The fries in it were wonderfully crispy and stayed that way even though they were surrounded by guac and sour cream - a true feat. I will 100% return. They have daily specials too for reasonable prices. The only downside of my trip was that they didn't have horchata!

I started eating here about 20 years ago, maybe longer. Found this place decades ago via a coupon from the Entertainment Book. The food was hot, fresh and a good deal. We used to come here often when the movie theater was the local hot spot. Unfortunately that theater because a discount house about 15 years ago and it eventually closed about 6 years back. That didn't stop us from coming to Del Rey as it was a far better choice than any other local chain or taco stand. Where things went wrong here is covid. Pre covid the daily specials were $7, for $7, you got a full plate of fresh Mexican food. Soon after covid, that price jumped to $11 and now those same combos are $15. Not only are they more than twice as much, but the portions are easily half as much. It used to be if you came here during lunch, there wasn't a seat to be found and there would be at least 5-6 people in line. The last 3 times I was here, I was the only customer. It's clear to me, everyone sees what I do, this place is no longer a deal. Why would I pay $15 for your daily special when Hermano's, less than 2 miles up the hill has lunch specials for $12, with table service, unlimited chip and salsa and a portion twice your size. I know there are supply chain issues and prices have risen, but ground beef has not gone up 250% You are earning a bad reputation because you don't understand how to fairly charge. I have been to taco shops and full-service Mexican restaurants all over the Puget Sound and can say without challenge the prices here are higher and the portions smaller. So you can't blame the location, because other restaurants are in areas with higher rent. It's too bad, you worked hard to build a business, now you are about to lose it.

The super burrito is a great choice. First time for me to visit this joint, but am impressed at how clean and well kept up the restaurant is. Burrito was good and just about the right size, as it will leave you full but not stuffed. Would recommend this place

I have been here a few times for lunch as it is so close to where I work. Every time has been excellent. The service is quick and the food is so tasty. I usually have the enchilada plate and they always provide complimentary chips and Pico de Gallo. As long as they keep doing what they do I will keep coming here!

I love their carne asada fries, they are to die for! Their cheesy fries and refreshing pico de gallo makes a nice craving crusher when you have a hankering for them

I had to update my review because it crazy how much the prices have increased at this restaurant. And not only have the prices increased, the portions have gone down. At least cut in half Im sure. My partner loves carne asada fries. The first time I bought them from here they were about $15 the next time I went, they were about $20. That's a big change in price in less than a year. The guacamole and chips are $5 and you literally get about an ounce of guacamole. Literally. That price has also gone up, and the guacamole amount was cut in half. I specifically remember looking for the guacamole in the bag and he looked at me, chuckling when I couldn't find it and said "it's in there"...like come on. Y'all know you're a joke. Needless to say, haven't been back, won't be back. $20 for carne asada fries? Really lol stop the madness.

Great foodFriendly serviceI just happened upon this place and they have the best vegetarian refried beans. Who expects the beans to be great? It was inexpensive and really friendly

Decent enough food but insanely priced for a walk up in an industrial area. Lunch for 3 people was $55+!

Oct 28, 2020 ; so my first visit here, so be honest, I didn't even know they were here and I work around the corner from them ... Service was 8n point, I think the young man knows how to talk to people, very respectful so 5 stars but I'm only giving them 3 stars overall and thus is why ...The food was ok at best, my tacos needed salt, was tasteless.... My burrito should have been called a BEAN & CHEESE with light meat burrito ... it was a good size but I didnt feel I got my money worth ... when you spend $9-10 bucks on a burrito, I expect it to be worth it and I didnt get my money worth ...But I think I will give it another try un a few weeks, hopefully I can find something worth getting and hopefully they can redeem themselves?!?! Anyway, they are located in a small shopping center, directly across from Starbucks, almost next door to Round Table Pizza ...
