Tabu Shabu is hands down one of the best places in San Diego for authentic Shabu Shabu. The warm ambiance and the unique seating arrangement, where you sit around the restaurant with the staff moving through the center, create a cozy and engaging atmosphere. The staff here is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to make suggestions and accommodate dietary restrictions with a smile. What I love most is the flexibility of the dining experience. You can enjoy your own pot, and if you're not up for a full plate of meat, you have the option to share protein at a lower price while still getting your own veggies and soup. It's a fantastic place to enjoy a fun, service-oriented dining experience without breaking the bank.Tabu Shabu truly stands out for its great service, delicious food, and affordable pricing. Whether you're a Shabu Shabu enthusiast or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit!

We were so hungry we didn't even have a thought for pictures I'm sorry but it was 10/10!!! Stopped by for a late night dinner and it was one the happiest most delicious spontaneous decision I ever made!!I hadn't done shabu in the longest time and it was my best friends first time, Steven was kind enough with genuine intent to explain the whole process for us. Not only was food 10/10 but so was their service. Such a nice chat with them and even recommended other spots in the area! Shoot we even recommended spots back down in our area where we all ended up taking notes! I got the udon with beef brisket in a tonkotsu broth with a seltzer on the side! Can I just say I love the way you can customize your broth to your liking with spices and oils and sauces as well as cooking your meat and veggies to your liking. I wanted to drink mine with a straw that's how amazing it was!!! Big big portion that you can take home after and split that into two meals! My best friend got the ramen in tonkotsu with the prime ribeye that will just melt like butter the second it touches your tongue. Oh my goshhhhh. Steven told him that the second I get a taste of his prime rib, I would want to steal and ... ahahah I wanted to switch so badly!!!! Since it was a late night it was pretty quiet and chilled out. They have tvs in there and cool wall art all around! 10/10 recommend this place and I can't wait to be back!

Not your average dining experience which was pretty enjoyable. The flexibility of options for the hot pot was good with various broths, meats, and noodles. It's nice that they recommend you mix it up with your party so then things can be shared. It's on the pricey side though so beware. Lots of food, but lots of money too! Almost $200 for three of us and we got chicken, shrimp, and rib eye. Staff will maintain the pot heat and boiling point and you just let it do its thing by throwing in all your goodies! I was truly stuffed by the end of our meal. We came on a Friday evening around 7:30 and luckily there was no wait time. Heard that's not always the case though so you may need to be prepared to wait.

I've been craving hot pot for sooo long and I was able to check this place out! Visited on a Wednesday night and there was no wait to be seated. The seating is bar-style, so you sit pretty close to other customers. Its a nice ambiance watching the staff prepare the food in the middle though :)I ordered the sukiyaki broth with beef belly. The regular size meat plate was the perfect amount. The broth was sweeter than others I've tried but still really yummy. They are generous with their vegetables and sauces as well. Staff was friendly and attentive! I would visit again.

The food tastes very good, the waiters recommended what to eat, how to mix flavors so the food would taste better, the wait time was like 10 min so we ordered some drinks before getting seated. We would like to come back next time we visit San Diego. It is a nice area to enjoy some great food.

This is one of my favorites in San Diego. I love the experience! There are options for fish, meat, and vegetable eaters. I like how they recommend mixing broth flavors. I also like all of the broth enhancements. Our waitress checked in on us often. They had plenty of staff and great service. The restaurant is casual comfortable. There are a couple of large televisions if you like sports. Fun time. Great food.

I have to admit I am totally new to hotpot, after only trying it for the first time last year and I love it! Still practicing my meat twirls and trying to figure out how to put together good sauces! What we ordered:* sukiyaki broth | udon * spicy miso broth | ramen* reserve angus ribeye * prime beef bellyLoved their sukiyaki broth and the pasteurized egg it came with definitely elevated each bite of meat and had me wanting more! My fiancé loved his miso broth and it was nice that they put the spicy paste on the side so that you can control your spice level. We were so hungry we basically finished everything we ordered but next time I will definitely have to try to save some leftovers because I saw that they can make a porridge for you to take home! The bar seating is kind of tight, and I was constantly trying to adjust things on the table to keep them out of the way for my neighbor. I went with one person and it's fine for two, but a group might be hard to take.

My fiancé and I love coming here for date night! The servers will let you taste the different types of broth to figure out what you like. I recommend mixing the sukiyaki and tonkotsu broth. All of the premium meats melt in your mouth and are delicious. I also love the prime beef belly if you are looking for the more affordable but option. The prime beef belly may even be my favorite out of all of them! They also have rotating beers on tap which is always greatIf you are a large party, I would avoid this place though. As it's hard to talk to others since it's all bar like seating in a row. You can really only have a conversation with the people seated next to you.
