Sweet Cafe

I wish I had taken photos! This is like the little engine that could: a cute little place that makes great homemade cantonese food and dim sum. What's really surprising is that the Szechuan food was solid too. My friend ordered the fish with peppercorn stir fry, and though being skeptical at first, I was a convert after trying it. They don't mess around with the peppercorns and numbing flavors. Not sure about their American Chinese menu (we never eat from this menu at any Chinatown places), but maybe for those who like this kind of food, worth a try.Their rice rolls were fine, though perhaps oversteamed a little. The congee was really good. The ladies working there (maybe because I spoke Cantonese with them?) were happy to make something not on the menu at all and make me a bowl of fish slice congee with ginger. When it comes out, give it about five minutes for it to thicken and flavors to congeal. They also make their own baos. My friend devoured them. For a non-dim sum restaurant, that's really saying something. Would definitely come here again!

Generally liked all the dishes except the chicken feet. I'm not used to the sauce. But it's a great little place to try some dim sum and chat with friends. The owner is very nice too.

We came here on a Saturday night and I noticed that because it's a newer restaurant people might not see it or know about it since it's on a less travelled street in Chicago's Chinatown. But we are glad we visited this establishment, especially since we had passed it a few times during our stay at Jaslin Hotel a few doors down. After sort of overeating this trip, we were looking for some lighter eats and found this place, which had very reasonably priced food and nice service.I ordered the hot and sour soup and the scallion pancakes and my partner ordered the chicken wings and the wonton soup. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The wonton soup was nice, fresh, and simple, while the hot and sour soup was what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. The scallion pancakes were perfectly crisp yet chewy and the chicken wings were also freshly prepared. The food came out very quickly and the service was also very kind. We would highly recommend this place and hope that it will start to get some more foot traffic. It's worth a try with the many dishes they offer!

The woman in the front named Sophia is one of the most nicest people in the world. The atmosphere in this place is so warm and comforting. She will show you pictures of the meals. If you don't know what they look like she let you ask as many questions as you want without getting frustrated, she was so hospitable and just was one of the sweetest most nicest humans I've ever encountered. The food was served with a smile and was delicious and seasoned. I definitely recommend this place.

They have lots of authentic chinese cuisines. Like this one, sweet sour pork rib, it's 糖醋排骨 in Chinese character. And most of its entrees cost only a bit more than ten bucks. Probably because the store open up not long(so order one for yourself before the owner regret the price!). I get addicted the first day I ordered.

Adorable tiny cafe, authentic dim sum, and helpful staff. Can't wait to make this a Chinatown staple, and right next door to my preferred pharmacy!
