Swagyu Burger - La Mesa

Best burger in East County and it ain't even close! The flavor of Swagyu's meat (Even the boo-boo $8 burger) is unmatched, it makes Beef n Bun taste like A55 n Bunz. Speaking of, Swagyu's bun stays crispy and dry while you experience the waterfall of Wagyu fat oozing out of the patties. The American cheese taste better than everyone else!! Is it homemade? Gots to be. The pickles are for sure homemade and they are the perfect balance of sweet and acidity with a perfect snap. The sweet potato fries are GOAT'ed as well...SO GOOD! Besides the food, Sarah the manager is fantastic and takes GREAT care of us when we are there. Pour up a frosty Buenaveza (literally the draft metal is frozen) or your favorite cocktail and this is the by far the best upscale burger experience in East county. Well done Chef Brown and team! The original location in PB, (now closed) was better. Swagyu has also expanded rapidly, quickly. They seemed to have done the test run in Poway and now they are in la mesa, little italy, utc, and somewhere else, all within the last 6 months. Investor saw light and they're going hard. I wouldn't say this restaurant is family friendly, or date night friendly, but it is very man friendly. The bar is stacked. The food here is ok, the $23 burger is pretty well priced for japanese wagyu. It's so juicy. You barely need to squeeze it but juice, sauce, and cheese just splurge all over your wrists in seconds. The quality though may be more of a $15-$18 dollar burger. There isn't much diversity in taste. You just taste rich beef and fat. Not a bad. thing, but I wouldn't mind some more flave.Overall its solid, reliably quick, but not fantastic and delightful. The owner is pretty cool though, replies to instagram quickly, has two kids, solid man. Hope he contiunues to find success - he deserves it!

Have not been inside the restaurant but have gotten delivery twice.I would highly recommend the American wagyu + add on cheese katsu. Amazing.Sweet potato waffle fries are delicious as well.Only downside is the price but I believe ordering in store is more reasonable :)

Pretty Dang Good! These burgers are a taste explosion! Service is good they bring your food to the table which is nice. Their margaritas are delicious! The setup inside is not really comfortable and their AC needs to be turned up! It's pretty pricey, definitely worth it, but the inside just doesn't vibe for some reason.

Stoked this place opened up in the neighborhood. Phenomenal hamburgers, juicy and tasty. The shakes are amazing. Plus they have beer and cocktails. The ambiance is chill and pretty modern since they took over the old high end sushi place that was here. The burger's aren't too pricey I paid $13 for a western burger, and they also have the premium wagy burgers for $23 which I've had before and is definitely worth the price.

These guys make a great burger! I had the double cheeseburger for $12.50, which came with two juicy American Wagyu smashed patties, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese pickles, a secret sauce, on a toasted soft butter glistened potato bun. I asked Sarah to see if they could possibly temp the beef at about medium, and even though it was a smash burger, they were very close and medium well. Either way, the American Wagyu patties were delicious and left that quality beef flavor that lingers on the palate. I liked that the patties had a good crispy exterior but remain juicy and tender on the inside, not to mention very flavorful.The burger's ingredients were all fresh and quite good. I went light on the sauce to better experience the flavors of the beef, and it worked. The house sauce was very good, too. I really liked the toasted potato bun. It worked really well on this burger. As I was eating the burger, I realized that beef patty was smaller than what I am used to, but the quality was outstanding, and I was okay with that.Oh yes! I also had an order of onion rings, and they were just grand. They were crispy, well seasoned, and actually had whole succulent onion rings inside. They were great for dipping in the house secret sauce.The service was provided by "sarah," who was very friendly and helpful. Great service! I can't wait to try some of their other offerings.

Awesome burger. Got one when they opened. Juicy and definitely top tier. I will be back.

Amazing service Very good burger and the sweet potato fries were fire. I drove here all the way from Rancho San Diego and i definitely will be coming back. The vibe is dope also good ambiance.

Sarah is the best got everything I asked for really brought out the atmosphere and the food was sooooo good would 10/10 recommend do it again
