Looking for a good sushi place, I went onto Yelp to find one close to where we were vacationing. Sushi Zen came up with great ratings so my family and I decided to give it a try. We came in around dinner time and the place was already starting to fill up. Walking in it felt very cozy and it was nicely decorated. To the left you have the sushi bar that you can easily see your sushi being made. And to the right were the tables. We were seated immediately and looked at the menu right away. As far as the sushi goes, they gave you a piece of paper where you could designate what you want. And for the other dishes, you can order off the menu. They had everything from your typical sushi to chicken katsu to veggie croquettes with specials written out on their board. For starters we tried Tamago (sweet egg), Unagi (fresh water eel), and Veggie Croquette. All were delicious, but my favorite would have to be the Unagi. Next up our main course. I opted for the Spider Roll (deep fried soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber, tobiko, spicy mayo, and radish sprouts). My daughter got the kids meal "San" which came with tempura udon and 3 pieces of a California roll. My son being a non-sushi eater got the chicken katsu that was accompanied by miso soup and rice. I really liked my dish. The soft shell crab was crunchy and flavorful. My daughter enjoyed her kids meal as she had eaten nearly everything. My son was surprised by the size of his dish and could not finish half of it so of course he ended up having to box it up for leftovers. He said that it was okay. When I asked him why, he said because there was no katsu sauce with it, which is understandable. Now onto dessert....we got 3: Tempura Ice Cream, Tempura Brownie with Ice Cream, and Mochi Ice Cream (coffee flavor). They were hands down so delicious. The crunchy texture of both the brownie and the outer layer of the tempura was amazing. I would highly recommend. The coffee mochi ice cream was the same as others we have tried. I would certainly want to come back and try out their lunch specials.

Been here before but this time disappointed with quality of food. Sushi was not good as before. Not sure if the ownership has changed but definitely better places around. Server was wonderful. Don't think I will ever be back again.

Sushi Zen is one of the best sushi restaurants north of Seattle. The fish is incredibly fresh, the servers and sushi chefs are fantastic, both at a reasonable price point. I would recommend the tuna tataki - it's like candy....or himachi sushi with ponzu and garlic

We stopped in here with friends on a weekday for dinner. They open at 5 PM, we got there a few min before 5 PM, and there were several ppl waiting outside already. We were a table of 7, and got seated right away. They do not have happy hour here anymore. We were all very happy with all the sushi we ordered, from the rolls, to the sashimi, everyone in the group enjoyed the food. Prices were typical. Overall, still a good experience getting sushi here.

Took my girl here to kick off her birthday week and she was in heaven! Sundays Sushi Zen is only open 5-9pm so we aimed to be 5 mins early and joined the little crowd that had gathered awaiting the door opening. Good thing because between some walk-ins and a few reservations the place was instantly full! We started off with an ice green tea and a white sangria. I was in the mood for hot green tea until I noticed the sangrias had sake in them. Of course they do!We were on a big eel kick tonight with unagi and anago (fresh and saltwater eel), a caterpillar roll, a dragon roll and a stuffed pumpkin roll. Everything was delicious as always and presentation was en pointe. Gabriel was our server and he was attentive despite the busy restaurant. This is our fave place to get our sushi on and it didn't disappoint!

We went to Sushi Zen for the first time yesterday and had a great experience! Staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant had a great, lively atmosphere. But, most importantly, the fish was so fresh! We got an order of the baked mussels, which were great! The crab on top really puts them miles above any other baked mussels we've had at other sushi spots. For our mains my husband ordered a shrimp tempura roll which had plenty of pieces to fill him up. I ended up with the sushi sashimi combo plate which came with 4 sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, tempura, a California roll, gyoza and rice. It was way more than enough! For $25 you get a great assortment of items - perfect for someone who can't commit to just one thing haha.By the end of the meal, we spent about $80 with tip. It was a little more on the expensive side, but for the quality we'll certainly be back next time we're in the area!

4 star rating for service. 3 star rating for food. We were excited to eat at this place given the reviews and I'm sad to say we were disappointed in the quality of the fish. The chicken teriyaki was good, and bless our server for messing up the order (we asked for the bento box, but got the plate) and brought out the additional missing items free of charge. This is definitely a kid friendly restaurant and we did have a good time. The sashimi plate had very very small pieces of fish, with the hamachi being the smallest (almost looked like the scraps of the fish). I don't think we'd go back to this place for a while, but again, thank you to the server who made helped make the experience even better with the accommodation.

The workers greeted us very warmly & they were all working hard & skillfully like a well oiled machine...you could tell the servers & sushi chefs were well seasoned. It was a very warm day and we were seated by the front windows, which even with the thick curtains, was still acting like a radiant heated wall! Not a big deal for me as I run cold, but if you are a hot person...this might have bothered you. I was actually wearing a tank top so I was perfect...it was double date night. The fish on sushi & sashimi platters was buttery & fresh. Lots of roll varieties too just how I like it. We started with some appetizers, nice sized shareable portions of tempura calamari & chicken karage. We also ordered agedashi tofu & veggie & shrimp temp, perfect portion sizes for a party of 4 for appetizers. No one ordered any entrees or bentos...although they look really good, we stuck to sushi. They give you a sushi list and a pen and you mark down what you want yourself...I like that too, more control on server making mistakes! I love trying ikura(salmon roe) at different restaurants to see if the chefs marinate the delicate eggs or not. I was pleasantly surprised to find this order of ikura marinated. It was slightly sweet with a hint of sake and not too salty as some restaurants will make it. This order was rich & creamy with the addition of quail egg. We ordered a small sashimi combo with salmon, yellowtail, toro & another white fish...I don't know if it was bonito or what, they didn't go over the items when they dropped the dish...but it was the one in the front on the left. They have an extensive roll list which has a ton of California based rolls topped with numerous options. All really good, but California roll base is kind of boring...maybe they could switch up the centers a little. We got Las Vegas roll...completely deep fried, yummy if you like that type of roll, Polar Bear roll, Cali roll topped with white tuna & seared salmon...YUM, a lemon salmon roll, Cali roll topped with salmon & lemon segments...they go so well together!!!! We also had a Firecracker roll which is a spicy tuna roll topped with more spicy tuna & fried minced garlic...really good with a little extra heat, maybe some jalapeños minced up in there but so tasty. We also ordered a White Christmas roll which is a shrimp tempura roll topped with white tuna, Avacado & a wasabi cream sauce...super tasty. Can't have sushi without a Spider roll & I always have an ume shiso roll...this one had lots of julienned cucumbers in it & a negihama roll to appease my clean, raw fish craving. Excellent sushi & the wait for our food was good. We had reservations & I definitely recommend taking the time to make one if you want guaranteed seating, I saw a lot of walk ins turned away or told they'd have an ample wait. If you're up north, I'd highly recommend Sushi Zen.

A local gem for sushi or other Japanese food in Mill Creek area, located right by Sprouts. It's a great place for both lunch or dinner, whether you're looking for an omakase experience or something light with a group of friends. Many reviews talk about the sushi but the non-sushi items are AMAZING as well - I always order the Katsu-don and it comes with a great portion of veggies and rice underneath the meat.Restaurant is clean and the staff are so friendly! Definitely recommend giving this place a try.

After being diagnosed with celiac disease, I returned to Sushi Zen to check out their gluten-free options. This restaurant has been a favorite for a while now and I was relieved to find out they have a gluten free menu available. The GF menu clearly indicates which sauces are withheld for containing gluten. The hostess and server were knowledgeable about gluten free restrictions and immediately brought out tamari sauce to the table. My husband and I ordered the zen roll, the suicide roll, the lemon salmon roll, and a spicy tuna roll. I did not feel sick or any other celiac symptoms from dining here. I will be returning!
