If you're craving sushi, Sushi San offers a great to-go experience. The food was ready immediately when we showed up. I had trouble using my Lettuce Entertain You rewards online, but the host easily helped me solve this problem in store. For an appetizer, we had the Tako Tacos. The inside was spicy and flavorful. Since we did pick up, the outside shell wasn't exactly crunchy, so I'd want to try in the restaurant to get the full experience. For rolls, I LOVED 3/4 of mine. The eel and yellowtail are automatic must-haves for the flavor. The shiitake mushroom was surprisingly impressive and you definitely got truffle flavor from the mayo on the inside. I'd highly recommend. The spicy salmon was disappointing when compared to these other three wins. It didn't offer anything special in terms of flavor.

We ordered takeout and were happy with the ordering experience. I really like the option to order either 3 or 5 rolls. Price point was also very reasonable.Rolls were fresh and well executed. I don't like much sauce with my rolls and a handful of these had mayo. The vibe was trendy and the place was very busy in a Thursday night.

Great spot! Cool vibes, dimly lit, was able to get a last minute res. Service was great! Everything was brought out quickly. I had a dirty martini this was great! The right amount of dirty, and the olives on this were fantastic. For an app we had the octopus tacos. I loved how light these were, the wasabi flavor was perfect! For my main I had a 5 piece spicy tuna and a 5 piece yellowtail. Both were great. The perfect size roll. The yellowtail was really refreshing!

It's tiiiiiime! Time for happy hour! I love the vibe of sushi San. Very clean and sleek. Lightning is perfect! This was such great happy hour, I am so happy I finally had a chance to check it out. They have very reasonable prices and good options. The service was good, staff were attentive. I can't wait to go back soon!

Peaceful customer service still awesome! Haven't been in a year. I tried the California lobster rolls this time and my usual of spicy salmon and tempura shrimp. The star of the show was again the fried eggplant! Never tasted anything so delicious in my life...

OMG what a jewel!!! Enjoyed a fun cocktail, scallop roll and yellowtail roll. Also dug into edamame, Brussels, and Shishito peppers before. Two thumbs up for fresh food and fantastic service!!!

Sushi-San delivers with a great open seating area with a nice mix of long 6-8 person benches, a few booths for couples, and small tables for smaller parties. We ordered 5 different sushi rolls and not one was a disappointment! Personal favorite was the spicy tuna followed closely by the mushroom roll. This is in the heart of the River North area of downtown Chicago so parking will be a challenge. Several public ramps nearby which I would recommend. Tip - if you're considering during busy lunch or dinner times, make a reservation! It gets really busy and even with all the great seating, can get a bit tight.

One of the best sushi places I have ever been to! The menu was unique and everything tasted so fresh. We started with the ROASTED EDAMAME and TOGARASHI CHICKEN NUGGETS. We were obsessed with the chicken nuggets! We also ordered 3 rolls: SALMON AVOCADO, TEMPURA SHRIMP, and LOBSTER CALIFORNIA. The Lobster California was my favorite with the green goddess dressing. We wish we could have ordered everything on the menu! Our waiter was super nice and even gave me a free birthday dessert: OKINAWA SUGAR PIE which was a super tasty brown sugar-like pie. Can't wait to come back on our next Chi-town trip!

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, it has a great ambiance that is not too casual but not too fancy either. The Otoro + Otoro nigiri (2 pieces) was fantastic. Melts in your mouth and so buttery!However, the rest of the menu was not great. I tried the Eel Maki (5 pieces) and the handrolls (4 for $21). They bring out all 4 handrolls at once, instead of making each one to enjoy fresh. By bringing them all out at once, the nori is soft and soggy by the time u make it to the next roll. I would recommend the tuna crunch handroll as that was the best and freshest out of the bunch. The scallop handroll had too much sauce in it, making it difficult to enjoyI would come back to just do Nigiri here and pass on the other menu options!

I came here lunch once upon a time and thought it was mid... but last week's dinner really surprised me.We made reservations here and showed up early (my fault). Definitely bustling for happy hour. Noise is doable but on the louder end if you want something more intimate. A lot of menu items appealed to my boyfriend and I. But some of my favorites: the otoro caviar nigiri, the hamachi crudo, Okinawa sugar pie and the Japanese eggplant tempura.The first two listed were specials. The tempura had a slightly sweet sauce that was the perfect touch with the crispness. I could've ate a whole bowl.The hamachi crudo was so light, citrusy, a bit of sweet and salty. The Okinawa sugar pie was the way to go. Not overly sweet which makes you wanting more.The drinks were pretty boozy and I'd just stick with water.
