Sushi Man

Really pleasant and quality neighborhood spot for the price.Ambience/Atmosphere: Nice change with new-ish spot near old demolished one. Easier to get to and park without being on the busy I-9. A little dark on the inside, lots of decorations and fan fare, it's not bare bones like some other competitors. Our kids loved the decor "I want to live here!" Service: Very attentive and flexible. They forgot one dish, which was fine, because we ordered too much, and were profusely apologetic and of course didn't charge us for it but also brought us out a nice little treat. Food came out quick on a weekend at peak time for lunch. Food: Pretty high quality fish. I've learned enough from content experts that you don't always want fresh, but you want fish well kept to age a tad for umami. A lot of the sushi has that here. The portions are very generous. Some interesting maki though definitely has all the common rolls, too, so something for everyone. The portions for things like philadelphia rolls were way above peers. The pokemon roll was fun and did visually look like pikachu. Chicken teriyaki platter was full of nice food. The edamame was generous but cold -- fine but should have been labeled as such. Miso soup was large and flavorful. The specials are always fun.Price: Really great for the portions and for sushi compared to neighboorhood/Newton/Brookline peers. This definitely is a highlight for us.We'll keep coming back! Support the Sushi Man!

Sushi man is a GEM in the newton line township.The family here is authentic as can be, Japanese cuisine without too much fluff. The sushi here is always fresh, I've never had a poor experience. The service is always spot on, super courteous and kind, water is always filled and needs are always addressed timely. The space is cute and cozy, but we have celebrated bdays here as well as brought friends from out of town.The karaga chicken is fried crispy and golden, meat is tender and still juicy. The sushi rolls all were hits for me, again nothing crazy fancy but flavor and freshness in its simplistic form is phenomenal. The roll sizes were perfect for the two of us.I really enjoyed the dynamite maki the most, had a nice kick of spice at the end note probably from a bit of wasabi. And covered in fish roe tobikoOther nights i would get the Japanese katsu curry, the plate is generous and could be shared in all honesty, the plate also comes with like a home made potato croquette thing.Will definitely be back with friends asap.Thank you again!

Sushi Man is the spot to go for casual sushi in the Newton/Chestnut Hill area! Their sushi is quality AND quantity is generous. It was my first time coming here today and was definitely not disappointed. We ordered two appetizers to start: agedashi tofu & chicken karaga. Both were 10/10! Each table has low sodium soy sauce, regular soy sauce, & shoyo for dipping. Tasty and not overdone. For sushi, we got an order of salmon sashimi (comes with 2pc/order), sunset maki, caterpillar maki, and dynamite maki. At first, I wasn't sure if the amount we ordered was enough but when the apps came, I was already feeling pretty stuffed haha. Definitely generous portions here AND I AM ALL FOR IT! All the rolls tasted super fresh and you can tell they do not skimp at all with the ingredients for each roll. Everything was amazing and my favorites were the dynamite roll & sunset roll... hands down. Our server was also AMAZING. Loved her! Very sweet and kept coming by to check in on us & refilled our waters. Each meal comes with fresh oranges at the end. The oranges were juicy and sweet. Parking: They've got a parking lot to park at with lots of spaces available. Overall, I had an amazing first meal here at Sushi Man tonight and would most definitely be back SOON. If you're ever in the Chestnut Hill/Newton area, you must try Sushi Man!

Overall had a good meal with great service. I went on a Saturday for dinner with a party of six. It was a bit busy inside, but our server was extremely kind despite all of the tables. I ordered the chicken udon and the chicken tempura roll. The presentation of the udon was great. The noodles were soft and felt fresh. I would say the chicken seemed like chicken tempura, but was in the soup so the usually crunchy outside was instead soft. The corn and other vegetables were great. The chicken tempura roll was good. It had a lot of chicken and minimal avocado, which worked, however, I would have liked if the chicken was cut into smaller pieces. It often seemed like the chicken was in large blocks. The wasabi could have been a bit stronger as well. Overall, I had a positive experience and return for another meal!

Still the best anywhere - and one of the main reasons we love Boston as much as we do!! So, so happy to be back here - pure love!

Phenomenal. No notes. A true gem.Beef terrayaki is full of flavor, huge portion of beef which is cooked beautifully also comes with some dumplings, a croquette and veggies. The shrimp skewers is a flavor bomb, I'd get ten.Gyoza steamed was packed with filling and delicious. I suspect they are made in house. So good.Chicken udon soup comes in a massive bowl. The best udon noodles I've ever had. The cabbage is very good. Breading for the chicken is super light tempura.

It was sad to see the original Sushi Man place being torn down ,but happy to see them back in business (apparently for 2 years now!!).The ambiance is cozy, with around 7 tables and bar seatings. Very warm and welcoming. We ordered sushi sashimi lunch set, Gyudon and chirashi. Food has good flavor. The beef on Gyudon was slightly on the salty side but that's my personal preference. The owners were very friendly and service was great. I'd say the chirashi was on the pricey side, even as a dinner dish.

Family run business. They are making the best sushi in the area. Both for dining in and takeout.

Ordered takeout and enjoyed everything. We went with specialty rolls or ala carte sushi. The avocado wasn't super fresh but it was fine. The fish was fresh and the shrimp was meaty. I do not get sushi all that often and found it a little pricey. I would order from here again.
