Came here twice in one week! Hooked.Managed to walk in both times but I recommend a reservation as they get busy.Sat outside the first time in a nice patio they have setup. The second time inside where it's darkly lit and move cozy. All of the sushi was great. We had the deviled eggs which are amazing. The tuna truffle is just two bites but so good. The crispy Maguro roll and the spicy tuna role are our go to now. Both are great

Another amazing experience dining-in! Last night I came to Sushi Dokku with 3 friends and we all had amazing experience. Even the 2 non- West Loop girls didn't realize what they had been missing out on. We were seated outside on the Randolph street patio and loved the ambiance and vibe. For appetizers we got the shishito peppers and the Japanese Fried chicken wings. OMG, the wings were to die for. We almost ordered another, but we knew we had sushi on the way. The shishito peppers were a little spicy for my preference, but for my 3 friends, they thought the spice was well-balanced. We all got various orders of sashimi and nigiri which tasted so fresh. Then we split 3 tuna rolls - the tuna micro green, the Ecuador and the hairy marinated tuna. They were all amazing. So much so that I easily might just get take out next week and order these same rolls. We didn't get anything from the grill- we were just too full. The staff are so respectful and attentive, and accommodating to requests to modify orders if need be. This is easily a restaurant to keep in the rotation for great Japanese food, welcoming staff, and yummy wine/cocktails.

One of my fav spots! We had a Friday reservation and were seated at the bar. It was fun to watch them make the sushi, service was great! To start I had a lychee martini, sooo good! We had the gyoza which was so soft and full and flavor. We also got the tuna truffle and hamachi nigiri. Tuna truffle is amazing, the truffle isn't overpowering. The hamachi one comes with a mustard on it, which I think they should do without. It's very overpowering. For rolls we got Ecuador and crispy maguro. The crispy maguro was my favorite, but pieces of tuna and just tasted so fresh! We also got the mini filet cooked medium and this was great as well. Served with mushrooms and mashed potatoes!

The Doctor, The Queen and my two BFFs came here for Restaurant Week 2024. First let me say that you need to make a reservation to come here as it is not a large venue, mostly 2- and 4-top tables with seating at a bar in front of the kitchen. There is a booth seating in the window, which is where we sat. I am guessing you could get six people in there, but it would be tight. The reason I chose this place was based on the recommendation of The Queen as she is all things Asian cuisine. She had mentioned that this was one of the places she liked to go to for sushi, ramen and mochi in one place. She also mentioned that it was more expensive than some of the places she frequents, but that the sushi was excellent. So let me start off by saying that I messed up badly on the ordering of items. I assumed that half a maki roll from the Restaurant Week menu wouldn't be enough food, so I ordered two additional rolls and gyoza. Way too much food, but we ate good! The 1st Course was a Seared Scallop with Apple Plum Puree & Shredded Radish. Normally this is a $7 bite on the regular menu, so this was good value for me. This was a lovely bite and I wanted to order another one but so glad I did not due to all the food that came out. I would order this again as a bite.2nd Course was Nigiri Bites. Ladies and Gents, this was my first time ever doing Nigiri and boy was I surprised at how good it was! Again due to this being Restaurant Week, this was another good value for price as you got to chose three pieces. Normally they are two to an order...maybe they are bigger when off the main menu, will have to ask The Queen. I got the following: Hamachi (Yellowtail, Grapefruit, Black Lava Salt, Green Onion), Sake (Salmon, Ginger Soy, Fried Ginger Strings, Chives) and Tuna Truffle (Truffle Sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano. Avocado). All three of these were amazing but baby that Tuna Truffle was lifegiving! Again I would go back just to get this! Talk about something so small being so powerful in its blend of flavors; I highly recommend this.3rd Course was the half maki and I got the Godzilla (Shrimp Tempura, Avocado, Cream Cheese, Tempura Crumbs, Smelt Roe, Wasabi Mayo, Eel Sauce & Sriracha) In addition we also got the Seared Salmon & Albacore and the Spicy Maki. All three of these were excellent and fresh in taste.4th Course was Kohitsuji or Lamb Chops, but it was really a Lamb Chop with Kizami Wasabi Butter, Green Onion, and Togarashi. Because it was Restaurant Week, I was not surp. My BFFs did not order off of the Restaurant Week menu and were going to order Gyu Negima (strip steak and green onions) but our server recommended the petit filet mignon because it would be more meat. It came with mashed potatoes and both were tasty. At $30 I guess that the size of meat was on par with the cost of what you would get if you ordered a 6 oz or 8 oz filet from a steakhouse.5th course was Mochi (Japanese Rice Cakes Filled With Ice Cream). The Queen & I got strawberry ice cream ones, but I gave her mine. I am not a fan of mochi, the texture just doesn't work for me. But what did was that Fuji Fu (apple cake, peanuts & caramel sauce) off of the regular menu with green tea ice cream. That was really good. The Queen and the BFFs were big fans of the cocktails and I was happy to see that they had bubbles on the wine list, so everyone was good to go as far as drinks go. Our server was very nice...she brought out these cute compressed towels that you drop in a wooden vessel with water to allow them to expand, so we could wash our hands. For the most part, she was very good but as it got crowded, it did take a some time to bring over the check for us. But that is not a deal breaker for me.I definitely could see myself coming back here to try some of the other rolls, but to definitely get the tuna truffle one....that was divine. Yeah it is pricey but filling, so you won't leave hungry.

Above average sushi and cocktails. Service has been attentive during my last few visits. We were seated immediately and cocktails were on the table within 5 minutes of ordering. Fine sushi option when in the West Loop.

My daughter and her friends were dying to go to the Olivia Rodrigo concert, which wasn't an easy ticket to score..let alone expensive. My friend and I had a genius idea to send the girls on their own. We would walk them in and then go nearby to enjoy a dinner of our own.The day of the concert I got a little FOMO and thought maybe we should buy last minute tickets instead. We all put on our purple sequins just in case we ended up staying. Once we arrived it was such a teen scene (my teen was in heaven) that we decided dinner would be fun. We took a short uber ride to Sushi Dokku and were a bit early for our reservation, but since it was a Tues evening they had plenty of tables available for our party of (sparkly purple) 4.We started with some drinks (tequila/soda/lime for me) and apps:- The deviled eggs were delicious - edaname always a good call when waiting for sushiAnd then dinner...I ordered the seared salmon roll, which looked like it had the least amount of fried/crunch ingredients. I paired it with a house salad (love ginger dressing) and unagi sashimi. It was all great and I was super full, but the roll was too good not to finish. It had been awhile since I was at Sushi Dokku, but a good reminder about how great the sushi is in the city. Also fun to be out in the city on a Tuesday evening. We all agreed it was the best concert we didn't go to!

Great place for sushi rolls. We walked in on a Thursday without a reservation and waited downstairs at their booze box. While waiting I got an Ube cocktail which was very good and such a unique flavor. Upstairs the service was excellent and the rolls were great. I did not try the nigiri but will definitely go back for the rolls!
