Surfside Fish House

Finally made it to Surfside Fish House! This fresh and new restaurant is worth the visit from wherever you're located. The beach vibe along with delicious food makes you feel like you're on vacation. Service is quick. Their dining area is spotless and their staff are friendly and welcoming. They come by often to check in on everyone. Their prices are reasonable and sure to bring people in for years to come!Be sure to drop in. Thank me later!

8/13/2024Hi my Foodie Friends.Yesterday I crossed off another place from my San Diego Foodie must try list.Surfside Fish House in Scripps Ranch.10585 Scripps Poway Pkwy, San Diego, CA 92131I wasn't expecting much but the menu looked like it had a decent selection for a tasty lunch. I'm a sucker for Clam Chowder and people were saying it was quite tasty. It was interesting that they also had a Seafood Chowder so I had to order A Cup of each and I wasn't disappointed. The Clam Chowder was thick with a nice flavorful taste.The Seafood Chowder was loaded with seafood, potatoes and other goodies also a tasty tomato infused broth. I ordered a cup of both. The cups were larger than most places and a deal at $4.00 each. I'll be back for a repeat.I also ordered The Fresh Handmade Guacamole and House Made Corn Chips. The Guacamole was excellent, very fresh and well seasoned.Chips were nice and crispy. Great for dipping.For my lunch entree I ordered The Classic Fish Tacos These are full sized Tacos and come with chips, amazing Black Beans, and two tasty sauces. The fish was nice sized and not overly breaded.Also Two Large Tacos and a side of Black Beans were only $9.99All the food was tasty and a value for what you get.I sat out in the covered patio. There is Lots of seating and free parking.Service form the owner was very friendly and helpful.One last thing.As I was enjoying my meal a young lady came out to my table and introduced herself as A San Diego Foodie who reads my posts and recognized me from my posts. I'm Flattered she knew who I was.She and her husband live near and dine here often.We chatted for a few minutes about the food and as I was leaving I stopped by their table to see what they were having.It was nice chatting with you guys.Its always fun to run into other members of SD Foodies. Came here for Happy Hour given the positive reviews recently. Had some great items:+ oysters on the half shell, half a dozen @$1.50EA. There were 3 varieties. We enjoyed them so much we ordered another round+ fish taco (grilled) - we could better taste the delicate fish with the grilled option+ ceviche - a nice bowl of fresh fish that had a good balance of acidity, served with a tray of chips and some small salsa cups (would have done with more salsa and a riper avocado)Will not order these again:- Poke nachos - mostly imitational fish, spicy mayo was overwhelming. Imagine having a whole try of this taste and texture - it dragged the WHOLE dinner down a notch. Strongly do not recommend! - fish taco (battered) - the batter was so thick and tough a fork it had difficulty cutting across. Not the texture one would expect We also ordered 2 IPAs:+ The Pupil - a bit bitter after half a glass but decent for an IPA+ Orderville - a nice hazy that was a bit heavy for seafood - not but our own faults for ordering in a hurry. We just love hazy IPAs so it was a gut reaction to order asap While the poke nachos seems to be the draw, we will not order them again. We may return for the oysters, ceviche and grilled fish tacos.

Came at 4:30p Sunday night for happy hour. Still had lots of open tables. You order at the front, they give you a number and you take your seat. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. During the time we were here, the restaurant gradually filled up. Food was pretty good. The clams were delicious. Great flavor. The ceviche was pretty good with lots of fish. Very filling. Calamari was good. Nice and crunchy. Did not try the chicken tenders as they were for the little one's.Place was clean and tidy. Not very big on the inside but they had a couple more tables outside.

Love this new restaurant for their happy hour menu. It's getting pricey eating out nowadays so it's great that there's a neighborhood place with great food that's still affordable. We really like their ceviche, wings, and poke nachos. Their $2 fish taco is a great deal too!You order at the counter and it's open seating. We haven't had issues finding tables when we went. The owners are very nice and are out there delivering food to the tables too.

We went for Happy Hour on a Monday at 4pm. (HH 3-6pm daily) There was no line which works out for us. You order from the counter and then they bring the food to your table. Staff was very nice. The food was good. We mostly ordered from the HH menu. We ordered the poke nachos, grilled fish tacos, ceviche mixto, chowder fries, shishito peppers, and the garlic shrimp plate which was the only thing not on the HH menu. I really liked the poke nachos, shishito peppers (has a nice kick to it) and the garlic shrimp plate. I thought the chowder fries, grilled fish taco and the ceviche was just ok. They were a bit bland for me. I definitely want to try other items on their menu and so happy that there's a new place to dine at in Scripps Ranch!

The Happy Hour is the real deal. Here's a synopsis of what we got. Mind you we spent about $70 and got a very,Very nice selection of foodsFor 3. Calamari - perfect. Not too salty. Tender. Perfectly fried Poke nachos- love these with the imitation crab salad Fries- hot out of the oven. Crispy.Clams with chorizo - too salty to even finish. I know chorizo is salty so they just need to monitor that and any additional saltClam chowder - too thick. Tasted too "floury" - hard passGarlic ginger chicken wings - solidFish taco - really good. Fish fried perfectly Shishito peppers - delicious but needs aLittle less sauce. It kind of overwhelms the peppers. Overall, you can't miss with this. Lots of great menu options even if not Happy Hour.

We had to wait a little while but we're very pleased with the service and our food. We ordered mahi-mahi with the creamy garlic sauce and salmon with a creamy garlic sauce. I would have liked a little more sauce but I didn't ask for it. The vegetables were cooked al dente and were very very good. I spoke with a couple other folks about the food they were eating and everyone loved it.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Delicious food, super friendly, attentive service, and great value for the price. I hope they last a long time here in Scripps Ranch.

OMG WHAT A STEAL GO DURING HAPPY HOUR.I wish this place was closer to me; otherwise, I would be going here all the time. The portion sizes are great and the prices are fantastic.Poke Nachos: 9/10. My mouth is watering as I am writing this. So good and the fish was so fresh and flavorful. The tortilla chips were super crunchy and satisfying. I appreciate the amount of fish and imitation crab meat they give. Had a little nice kick to it too.Grilled fish/classic taco: 7/10. Solid but nothing to write home about. I think for the price it was justified.Ceviche: 8/10. Light and refreshing. No complaints.I would definitely come back to try the other menu items that are not on the HH menu. The food truly stands out on its own!!!
