Surf City Sandwich

A, somewhat, solid spot for sandwiches. Nice So'Cal style atmosphere. Staff was friendly but I was a bit annoyed that it took 10 minutes for staff to come from the back where they clearly weren't doing much. I eventually had to yell for someone to come out. A bell would be helpful. I ordered what was called the "Fig's Pig"-- a barbecue sandwich with supposedly housemade pulled pork. My Mom ordered the Surf City Grinder. Our takeout order was made pretty quickly and was still hot when we got home. My Fig Pig was pretty good, but my Mom wasn't the biggest fan of her Grinder-- it was okay but definitely needed more meat. The chips on the side, I found pretty greasy and bland.Would I come back? I'm not sure. Possibly, but I'd order different sandwiches.

We stopped by here the other day because my girlfriend wanted a sandwich with sprouts on it. We ordered Johnny Utah with bacon, the Vulcan Mind Melt, and the Loco Loaded Fries to go.We were here another time last year and I had the Cubano, I forget what my girlfriend had, but also had the Beer Barnacles. That time we dined in.Service is always great, everyone is friendly, and the place is nice and clean.I thought the Vulcan Mind Melt was ok, I didn't hate it or love it, but it was good. My girlfriend on the other hand loves her Johnny Utah. She said the ratio of everything is how she likes it. I thought the Vulcan Mind Melt was ok, but the Loco Loaded Fries were really good. It had a real richness to it from the meat to the cheese. I like me some Filly Bs carne asada fries, but would take this over that any day.We finished the fries and had half our sandwiches leftover and we were full. I would say pricing is similar to something like an Ike's, so be aware of that, but we were satisfied with our meal and that's what counts.When we come back I want to try the Pastrami or get the Johnny Utah because I ate my girlfriends leftovers and was all about it.

I got the Cubano wife got the Johnny Utah they are both AMAZING great customer service great attitude WILL FOR SURE come back here

I knew this place was going to be decent when I walked in and spent 5 minutes looking at the menu deciding what to order. There were so many amazing options and as a picky eater I was caught off guard because usually there are only one to two options on the menu that I would eat. That was not the problem here! Ultimately, I decided on Noni's pesto chicken and I had no regrets. It was one of the best pesto sandwiches I've had in a while. It was served warm with house made chips. I loved the extra taste the oven-roasted tomatoes added. I ate half the sandwich and half the chips and was able to save the rest for leftovers, which was convenient because the prices are high. If you can make two meals out of a sandwich, the prices don't seem as bad.It was a cool place to eat at with decorations of surfboards and skateboards, it felt like I was in California. The staff was very nice and prepared our food quickly. I'm excited to return to try more sandwiches!

I was out running errands with my son and decided to stop by Surf City Sandwich for a quick lunch. The place was buzzing when we arrived. The space isn't the biggest, but there's ample seating. Almost all the seats were taken.Once we made it up the line to order, the staff greeted us and helped us decide on what to order. At the time of my visit, they had very limited seafood options. I think just one, the Baja Shrimp Bacon Wrap. It comes with crispy fried gulf shrimp, applewood smoked bacon (I requested no bacon), ghost-pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo, and tomato-basil tortilla. It was pretty good, and I would order it again.My son went with the Italiano: mortadella, dry-cured capicola, provolone, roasted tomatoes, pepperoncini, pickles, EVOO, balsamic and pesto, with spring mix on a toasted ciabatta roll. All of his favorites and filling enough for his big appetite. We shared garlic fries: Christopher ranch garlic, house seasoning, extra virgin olive oil, cilantro, parmesan, and pickled jalapenos. Very good as well!We will be back!

Took way too long to try this place! Went in wanting a cold Sammy but ordered the Classic Hot Pastrami. My god.. this was so damn good! Not to mention each sandwich comes with homemade chips... prices may seem high but these chips make it worth it! Draft BIG WAVE will for SURE have us coming back!! Owner was super kind and made sure everyone there was happy! 10/10

Service was great I was greeted as I walked in, my order was taken quickly. I ordered the italiano. The sandwich was not what I expected nor wanted to at that time. I'm sure other people like the sandwich as is. Not my style but everything else was cool.

The times I have eaten here have always been great. My wife loves the NONI'S PESTO CHICKEN and I love the ITALIANO. You also get a nice pickle spear. Which I love pickles!

This place is hands down our favorite sandwich spot. The food is incredible, the vibe is awesome, and the service is equally as good. If you're looking for an incredible hot sandwich, this is the spot. Deciding what to order is always tough, everything is good, but you can never go wrong with the Vulcan Mind Melt or Chipotle Chicken Club.
