Been meaning to try Supannee for years now and so glad we finally did! I had pad thai tofu and hubby had spicy basil chicken to go; portions were perfect for lunch and the spice levels matched what we requested (med. for me, hot for him). He loved all the veggies in his entree.A bit pricey for a lunch special ($14-16) but the quality was great. I look forward to enjoying a meal in house and seeing the beautiful presentation of some of the photos placed here on Yelp.

We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately. The restaurant is very organized and every table had a little rose! Very clean and comforting aesthetic. My family ordered various dishes:Seafood Tom Yum Soup - It was okay. Honestly not my favorite, the broth was dull and did not have the tanginess that I expected. The seafood, however, was good.Larb Salad - I liked this salad a lot! It was light and fresh, a little too spicy and salty but the taste improves as you eat it more. Massaman Beef - I really liked this dish too. The beef was tender and super flavorful. Almost like a sweet-ish taste. The fried egg was runny and the bite all together was delicious. This dish is a bit heavier, however, and I wished it came with more veggies to lighten the flavor!Mango Curry - Very tasty! I have never had Mango Curry before, and the mango chunks in this curry added a nice crunch to the dish. The curry itself had a tang from the mangoes and I liked it!Fried Fish - This was honestly my favorite dish of the night. I could've eaten this entire fish. The super flavorful sauce added such a nice lightness to the fish, which wasn't heavy to begin with. The white fish had a good glisten when you break it apart, it was very good.As for dessert, they were also very good and standard. However, it did take very long to come. We noticed during our meal, we were not checked in for an extended time. Despite the plates being empty and stacked, they would pass us without acknowledging, which I found very interesting. However, the night was starting to get more packed, so I understand the hecticness.

I found this gem on Yelp. I saw the pictures of the flowers that this owner grows and how she incorporates it into her food, and I was sold! This place is near Point Loma on Shelter Island. It's in a small strip mall. Parking is small and difficult to find in front of the restaurant. We came on a Wednesday around 1230 p.m. There was no wait. We were seated pretty quickly for a party of 7. The place is decorated very nicely with Thai influence. The service was OK. The waitress wasn't so helpful and didn't check on us much. Other staff cleared our plates and brought us our food. The food was a mixed bag. I definitely liked the lunch special. It starts at 13.99 and you get an entree, salad and dumplings. It was a good deal. We got the Pad Thai lunch special. I have had better pad Thai. They made theirs with thinner noodles. It was too soggy for me, and the sauce was OK. 7/10. I ordered shrimp spring rolls, and it was as pictured, very pretty, with the flowers inside. The taste was good, but the shrimp to veggie ratio could have been better. 9/10. I also ordered the chicken satay. The seasoning was right. The peanut sauce tasted like they used peanut butter from the store. 8/10 I ordered the Hawaiian fried rice, thinking that it would be served in a pineapple and also because my dad loves pineapple fried rice. This dish came in a big bowl. The serving since was good. The rice itself was sticky, and the sauce was not good. It was a huge disappointment. 6/10 The highlight of the lunch was the Esern classic. It was beautifully presented. I'm thankful I read reviews because they forgot to include the sticky rice! She didn't apologize for the mistake. I got the crying tiger beef with it. It was so good but was chewy. I like my beef tender and soft. The papaya salad was my favorite. It was tangy and crispy with the peanuts. Yum! The 2 sauces that came with it were also very good. Beware, though the green sauce has a real kick! 9/10 I got the mango sticky rice. Again, the presentation was beautiful! It was placed on top of a wooden tree. The mango was cut into axl flower, and the sticky rice was shaped into a heart. The sticky rice was so good! 10/10 Finally, I got the green tea lemonade. It came in a very cool metal bowl. They put lots of cut-up lemons and lime. The drink was sweet, but I expect that. It was very refreshing! I would definitely come here again and try different dishes. Their prices are actually very reasonable for the food and location.

This is a modest Thai restaurant in a small strip shopping center on the way to Shelter Island with an extensive menu. Family-owned, fresh herbs from their garden are used in the dishes. We came for dinner on my brother-in-law's recommendation, and we enjoyed it.-----FOOD (4/5) We started with the Summer Rolls Shrimp (5/5 $10.99). Our main dishes were Spicy Shrimp Chili & Basil (4/5 $22.99), Pad Ped Mixed Seafood (4/5 $20.99), and Khao Soi Duck (4/5 $22.99). Khao Soi Duck is one of my favorite Northern Thai dishes, coconut curry noodle soup with a roasted duck leg. Supannee's dish hits on almost every note. The exception is the Maple Leaf Duck leg. Don't get me wrong: I like Maple Leaf Duck products and use them as shortcuts when I make Asian dishes. But I prefer a crispy roasted duck leg in authentic Khao Soi Duck.-----SERVICE (4/5) Our server was very good and attentive. She was soft spoken which made it difficult to hear her at times over the other conversations in the restaurant.----AMBIANCE (4/5) The restaurant interior is warm and welcoming. With most of the tables occupied, the restaurant, with it's hard surfaces, gets loud. The shared parking lot is small and tight.

This place has been on my list for a while and I happened to be in the area for dinner. Food had no spice? I didn't realize they didn't ask for our spice level preference. The tom kah soup was bland and had no kick to it. It was just coconut soup. Least favorite in all of SD. Mango curry was okay and the appetizer platter was the best item out of the three we ordered. What we ordered:- Appetizer platter - mango curry- tom kah soup

Supannee House of Thai by Suree is located in Point Loma / Shelter Island area of San Diego. Their specialty is on the "freshest and most authentic Thai cuisine in San Diego" and have been around since 2011.A foodie friend invited me here on a Thursday evening for dinner. Oh my goodness, food was delicious!Between the 2 of us, we tried the following:(1) Supannee Platter (Appetizer) - Satay Chicken, Egg Rolls, Rainbow Shrimp, Summer Rolls(2) Esarn Classic (Chef's Signature Dishes) - Northeastern Thai specialty combination set with crunchy shredded papaya salad, glutinous rice, and spicy dipping sauce (as for the meat, we had a choice for free range BBQ half chicken or grilled marinated flank steak "Crying Tiger"). My friend and I chose the "Crying Tiger" - cool name but I just prefer steak in general! (3) Garlic Salmon Fried Rice (Chef Suree's menu) - Thai Jasmine Rice with diced salmon, fresh garlic, egg, and cilantro (4) Mango Sticky Rice (Dessert)(5) Thai Milk Green Tea (with Oat Milk)(6) Mango Ice TeaLOVED LOVED LOVED the food there! Service was friendly. Comfortable atmosphere. Support Family Businesses! ENJOY!!

This was one of the few places still open by the time our evening flight got into San Diego so we went to get a quick bite before calling it a night. We ordered the green curry, the pad kee mow and the pad thai. I honestly felt that it ranked on the lower end of Thai restaurants that I've been to -- the best two in my experience are in Providence, RI and Encino, CA respectively. The flavors here weren't very bold, dishes erred on the overly sweet side and the food felt greasier than average as well. On the bright side, the service was great and the food came out pretty quickly! Interior was quite upscale and seemed like a good spot for a special occasion. Unfortunately the food is not compelling enough for me to come back here again though.

Supannee is a lovely Thai restaurant on Shelter Island, a garland of orchid-like flowers crowns the hostess desk, and every dish is impressively presented. The Spring Summer Rolls with Tofu and Som Tum Green Papaya Salad come adorned with edible flowers, both dishes were flavorsome, but definitely watch the spice level on your order, the medium level was too hot for me on the papaya salad. Fortunately, the server was kind enough to replace my dish with a less spicy option, which really added to the experience of this visit.

Food is always superb: taste, portion, and presentation. To top that, the service is always great specially when their super welcoming, kind and excellent server TK is there. She makes the experience even more excellent. Continue the great work Supannee.
