The manager of this place is a completely cunt, unprofessional and disrespectful. If you pay for the music at the jukebox and he doesn't like he just change it, you have to listen to music according to his taste. Not recommended at all

A cool spot for drinks! The prices were reasonable, the bartender was friendly. They also have pool tables! There is a good BBQ place across the street that you can order food from and bring over. Two stars were given because there wasn't much to give a review on. Not necessarily a bad thing. I would visit again for drinks.

A guy I was seeing during the end of Summer wanted me to meet him here since he was working in the area. Parking was a pain in the ass but I eventually got in without a problem and only stood long enough to watch him play a round of pool while I threw back two vodka sodas. In the 45 minutes I was there, here's how my experience went:- My bartender was a female and the interaction was respectfully transactional, check. - My drinks were poured to standard and were decently cheap, another check.- I stood on the bottom floor beneath the open air portion of the building where I could feel the sun. Everything appeared clean in this area. No trash strewn around or anything out of place, check. From what the bar had to offer, I have no complaints. My consensus on this area is that you need to look and act like you sleep at the beach in order to comfortably blend in. If you shampoo your hair, smell fresh, or enter wearing branded clothes afforded by the middle class and higher... you're probably going to attract negative attention unless you look like Guile from Street Fighter or someone who can annihilate an army of Shaggys from Scooby Doo.Thankfully I looked innocuous with my faded black hoodie and avoidant gaze otherwise most debutantes get harassed, insulted, or mocked here from what I've witnessed. I did attract a few creepy stares but once it was obvious that I wasn't here unmanned, I was in a protective halo. This phenomenon isn't necessarily a reflection of the staff at this bar but more so of the demographic of its locals. Even though nothing happened, it's the perception and the vibe that really started to make me uncomfortable. In my experience with dive bars, there are those that have that warm glow of a boozy hobbit hole where random walk-ins are welcome to fist bump with newly made comrades. On the other hand, some accidentally tread upon the "locals only" dens not knowing that it's patrolled by a clandestine bunch of hooligans willing to tweak their definition of vigilance. This is one of those bars.

I like the vibe here at this bar when i've been it's felt low key . I've typically been here early before the late night crew arrives . The bar is quite spacious , It has several rooms and two levels . Follow the staircase up to the top level that I personally haven't made my way up to yet , but i've heard it's an open area view . For sure on my next visit it's on my list. The bar has a nice open airy feel. I'm not a fan of overly crowded bar scenes so it's suits me just fine . On the few occasions i've hung out here it has a mixed age crowd which is nice to be around . They also have a few arcade games and pool tables for entertainment . A juke box too to choose your favorite tunes . The bathrooms are always clean with a unisex wash station . Indoor patio with an outdoor feel because of the open air patio . The bars are very spacious with loads of seating & tables near by as well . The bar tenders are fairly attentive & low key which I also like . A great selection of beers , top shelf or well for any concoction you may choose to order . To me it seems the drink prices are affordable which is a rare find in San Diego .

Been at the Sunshine Saloon many times, last time was a couple of weeks ago for a wedding post-celebration and we were staying in the top floor and that felt so cold. The service has alwasy been great and I really like the way the establishment is decorated, the painted walls make me always feel like I am on vacation. However, there is something that I don't know how to explain but somehow is not my favorite place. Maybe is that disconnect between separate ambiances, between people playing pool, others attached to the bar, other really there to grab some food...difficult to blend and meet other people unless you go with your own.

i had went here alone and i didn't know anything about san diego. i was trying to talk to the bartender, but he didn't try to converse. it wasn't busy either. i was also asking for drink recommendations and he looked so over it. i ended still tipping him well because i'm also in the industry, but i'm very disappointed. also, there was throw up all over the floor. it was everywhere and i noticed it when i walked in. i didn't say anything because i was unsure what it was since i was sitting at the bar until multiple people came up saying there was throw up that has been there for a while.

They never have Jell-O shots during the farmers market!! My friend and I come every Wednesday trying to get the $1 Jell-O shots and they're always out. But they do have other good deals and fun games to play

Was not greeted when I walked in. Sat at the bar for 5 minutes was completely ignored. Another bartender came in and walked right past me talked to the couple next to me for a few minutes then finally decided to take my order. There were a total of 3 people at the bar including myself. Either way, I still tipped the bartender 38% because I work in the industry but the vibes were definitely off.
