My boyfriend and I had a late lunch at Sumi before heading to the airport. It was empty on a Monday afternoon around 3pm. We were quickly seated & decided to order the Chicken Katsu Curry & Beef Skillet Bibimbap. We were surprised at the portions and thought they'd be much smaller. The breaded part of the Katsu had a little crunch to it. The curry had a good thickness to it. You'll definitely leave stuffed. They also have kbbq options if you want to grill. There's lots of parking in the plaza, so it's not an issue.

Was worth the time and visit!Came here for breakfast so wasn't as crowded but I can definitely see this place filling up. The food was a solid 4/5, wasn't bad at all but I felt like it was missing just that extra spark. Meat seemed high quality but serving sizes could've been a tiny bit better. Definitely not affordable but it came with lots of extras. Banchan was super yummy and came with complimentary soup and egg soufflé.The service was nice, the servers answered any questions we had and were descriptive. Boujee atmosphere. The inside was sooo pretty and made me feel like I was at fine dining! Perfect for instagram photos.I'd come here if I wanted to impress a friend or just looking for a cute place to dine. Food was nice but not something I'd rave about. That being said I think I'd come back for another visit :)

Came here for an early dinner on a Fri and was impressed with the sleek, clean look and the attentive and warm service. We opted for the premium feast for 2, which had 4-5 different cuts of meat, soup, egg souffle, and various side dishes (which included refills). Some of the meats were difficult to chew but they were all very flavorful. It was a lot of fun to cook our own meats and control the done-ness factor.

High ceilings, large tables. We chose the regular menu instead of kbbq. The flavors were ok, nothing special. Very limited banchan. Felt like a sanitized version of korean food.

Have been here a few times recently and we have always received great service and the food has been excellent each time. The staff is so friendly and always helps us with whatever we need. Today I got the Steak Bento Special and it was so so good! The meat was nice and flavorful and a generous portion for lunch!

I found this location through Yelp when wanting to try some new KBBQ places with friends. The location was the initial feature that drew me in. It's nice and close to the mall and halfway between Tacoma and Seattle. Upon arriving, it is apparent that the shopping center it lies in is up and coming, having undergone quite a few renovations, and fairly upscale. The restaurant is brand new, very clean, and quite modern. It isn't too large, but arranged neatly and uses all the space efficiently. I absolutely love the decor! All the tableware is gold, the tabletops are marble, and the wall decor is hip. There is also a clear view of the kitchen and yet there aren't any overbearing scents or grime. It is also a fairly popular restaurant. We came at 4 pm and were able to be seated immediately, but more groups slowly trickled in. We even got to see a family celebrate a birthday party there. Definitely a great spot for groups and family friendly without being tailored specifically for children. The service was attentive at four, but as it got busier, service became a little sluggish. Not the kind of place where making eye contact with staff will cause them to check on you, you definitely have to be audible when you need something. But other than that, staff was very friendly. The food was great! We did do the traditional KBBQ where you cook for yourself, but the quality of the food was amazing. For the marinated pork, it definitely tasted like it had been marinating for at least a few hours as the seasonings really sank into the meat and wasn't strictly in the sauce. The kimchi was super flavorful as well. The food is not all you can eat, but the Large Feast was the perfect amount for four people. We did not have any food left over but we definitely couldn't eat another bite.I can't wait to come back with my friends! I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Giving this place 4 stars, in context of what I think it's meaning to do -- finally giving Korean food a space in the mainstream.Kind of like how Dough Zone is to Chinese food, I feel like Sumi Grill is able to make Korean food very approachable for those that are brand new to the cuisine. The menu has clear, English-only dish names, and serves only select staple dishes (like KBBQ, soft tofu stew and bibimbap) or trendy ones (like rose tteokbokki) that are easy to please most. Maybe because of its location beside a lot of chain restaurants, I was expecting the dishes to be watered down and/or feel disingenuine. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised that all the dishes I tried were very flavorful and didn't skimp on the spice! The restaurant is very stylish and bright, and our servers were attentive. Prices and portions were reasonable. This is a worthwhile and convenient stop if you're in the Southcenter area!

I was craving some Korean food and didn't want to go out, so I got Sumi through Doordash for dinner. Since I got soupy dishes, the food was still quite hot and inviting upon delivery. I also received 3 sides of banchan (pickles and kimchi) and rice included with my order. The kimchi was BOMB! Both the beef soondubu and rose tteokbokki were delicious and exceeded my expectations. The tteokbokki had a crave-worthy taste, and I would certainly get it again! It's not a huge portion but rice cakes are very high in calories so I'm thankful they didn't give me too much because I would just keep eating it. Lol. The soondubu was also very flavorful, packed with tofu and meat, and was a good level of spice for a medium. No regrets here, this place satisfied my cravings!

Though portion was smaller than expected, the food tasted amazing, I had the bibimbap which came with a good portion of rice. Wish they have more toppings.

The 4-person portion of combo was a lot of meat. High quality tender meat of juicy fatty balance. They should however cut the wagyu into smaller grill pieces.Service was phenomenalAmbiance is nice cozy family dining atmosphere
