Orange cream scone...very good considering I'm a scone snob

Autism is a cause near and dear to my heart so this bakery, which I discovered is a great new find. It's run by an autistic man and his Mom. She helped him train as a baker and they are selling at the Farmer's Market in downtown Scottsdale.I got the orange cream scone which had a delish flavor. It did not have the traditional dry scone texture, but it didn't cross the fine line into being a biscuit, cake or cookie. I'm a scone snob, what can I say? I also got some salted caramel mixed nuts. I was a little reluctant to get them because I didn't want a brittle, but the texture of the caramel was light and not sticky. The nuts were very plump and obviously a good quality. Please take some time on your next visit to the market to support this great little home grown business.

I was first introduced to this fabulous local business at the Old Town Farmers Market, and shortly after that, I realized that the cafe at The Village at Camelback carries pastries made by Matt Cottle at Stuttering King Bakery as well.It was love at first bite of an oversized muffin, and I fell even harder when I learned more about the back story of this business, which "bakes with a mission." Specializing in handcrafted muffins, brownies, blondies, cookies and scones, Stuttering King (named after King George VI), was born after Matt attended and graduated from SARRC's Vocational and Life Skills Academy CulinaryWorks® program and put time in with several local internships and three years' worth of baking lessons from Heather Netzloff, pastry chef and founder of Rumpelstiltskin Granola.Stuttering King launched in 2012 as a result of all of that hard work. Matt and his mom continue to grow the business (and their delicious pastry offerings) with placement all around the Valley and with their catering business as well. However, what is most special and worth noting, is that Stuttering King is quite an inspiration for other autistic people. Matt has found his passion and it shows... If you have an opportunity to check out SK's pastries, don't miss out. Or better yet, give them a call next time you're in need of some sweet treats for an event. They can even offer gluten free options upon request. Just make sure to give at least 3 days notice either way!Enjoy... and keep up the incredible work, Matt!

We placed a catering order for my in laws 50th Wedding Anniversary for the dessert station, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Matt and Peg were a pleasure to work with and the treats were so delicious, everyone asked where we got them. We ordered the red velvet and dark chocolate whoopie pies, chocolate chippers, and lemon bomb blondies. All were delish, but I can't stop going back for the chocolate chippers and the lemon blondies! Thank you, Matt and Peg, for making our event so special and sweet!

The cupcakes were delicious! It was like eating rich gourmet hot chocolate. The frosting is made with real cream and just a hint of sweetness to enhance the deep chocolate flavor of the cupcakes. After a heavy holiday meal (mixing Chanukah and Christmas traditions) the cupcakes were the perfect dessert

When you shop at Scottsdale's Farmers Market, stop by The Stuttering King for fantastic Macaroons! I just stumbled upon Matt's booth while shopping, and I'm so glad I did. His Chocolate Mocha macaroons were delicious, light in texture, sweet, a very light coconut flavor, great texture and a long way from typical. Those macaroons melted in my mouth. I only bought four and I am regretting it, but looking forward to my next shopping trip. My spouse can't stop raving about how "that boy can bake!"

Fantastic baked goods at the Saturday Farmers Market in Old Town, Scottsdale. I bought the best lemon bars I've ever had . . .and went back the second Saturday to buy more. Say hello to Matt -- the great baker...He calls them Lemon Bomb Blondies.....but whatever they're called, BUY THEM....of course, saving some for me!
