Amazing steaks and over-the-top service. The ambiance was how I would describe as rustically elegant. A definite return trip is in order!

Ron, our server was very attentive and personable. With us being from out-of-town, Ron went out of his way to provide us with the historical background of Stockyards. We really appreciated the backstory. The food is all down-home goodness cooked to perfection! Being inside of the restaurant (established 1947) or in the Saloon (established 1889), you feel the presence of the cowboys eating their meals with their covered wagons parked outside. Howdy!

I would give this place 3.5 stars Service- 5/5. Great friendly service. Our waitress worked here for 12+ years was attentive and very knowledgeable with the menu items. Ambiance- as this is now a historical landmark being one of the first steak houses in Phoenix serving the same recipe. As you walk it, the restaurant is clean and gives you a sense of an history with plaques and pictures hanging down the walkway towards the restroom/ bar. Food- crab cake: 5/5- I enjoyed these crab cake as it was packed with lots of real crabs vs fillers. Pic was missing the sauce, but once we got it. It complemented the crabcake really well. I would like is a mixture of Sriracha and garlic aïoli Steak- 3/5- I was expecting my steak to be tender, but it wasn't. Not sure if if bc it's an AZ cut (not sure if it makes a difference, but what was advertised). How I would describe it is... tastes like a select vs.choice vs prime. IYKYK DESSERTS- 5/5 since we went for our anniversary, they gave us free desserts and it was delicious.

Brought my dad for a late father days dinner on Monday evening and we had a great time. The hostess got us checked in and we were seated right away. Cold water was served immediately and Dan our server came over and introduced himself. He gave us time to look over the menu. Warm biscuits and corn bread were brought out and mmmm both breads were yummy. We ordered:1 Grilled Chopped Steak and a side salad ($32) 12 oz Patty, Caramelized Onions and Mushroom Gravy1 Herb Roasted Half Chicken and a side of green chili soup ($32) Whipped Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetable1 Pan Seared Tomahawk Pork Chop with a side salad ($42) Parmesan Potatoes and Apple-Cranberry ChutneyThe food was delicious and the portions were huge. Both salads were crisp and fresh and the green chili soup had so much flavor. My roasted chicken was flavorful and juicy. The mashed potatoes were our favorite as they were very fluffy. My dad enjoyed his pork chop and said it was cooked well. The chopped steak was thick and the gravy was really good. The broccolini was our seasonal vegetable and these were cooked perfectly, not at all overcooked and they had a nice subtle crunch. Service was top notch from the start. Dan was attentive and friendly, thank you! The inside of the restaurant has so many cool artifacts. We walked around after we ate and enjoyed looking at the old photographs. Total with tip: $140

Tge food tasted good but tge prices were steep for what I got! I decided to order off of the lunch menu. I had a small cup of soup and half of a tuna sandwich. It didn't come with any sides, so I decided to order some onion rings, which were delicious! I also ordered a Coke with my meal. Altogether with tip, it cost me $40.In their defense, it is an upscale-ish restaurant . In my defense I could've gotten a nice steak dinner for $40 instead of a half tuna sandwich and a small cup of soup....My service was great . I would like to come here another time and try some of their steak to see if the quality of their beef is worth it..I would recommend this place to a friend if they knew that they were going to be spending 20+ dollars on their meal for a lunch and probably 30 to 40 on a dinner .

It looks very unassuming from the outside, but once you're inside you can feel the history of this famous steakhouse. Met up with friends for happy hour so my experience was @ the 1889 Saloon section of the restaurant. I loved the ambience, vibe and the service. The food from the HH menu however was disappointing. The Queso Fundido $14 tasted more like warm hummus and the tortilla chips were very bland. Definitely needed some salt on them. 2 prime rib sliders with fries $18 was good, had a good amount of meat. The fries were very dry. Citrus Burnt Crème (their version of crème brûlée)-$14, not on HH menu, was smooth, light, and not too sweet. I'm not a fan of overly sweet desserts so it was perfect for me. It was definitely a fun, cool restaurant to check out, but I don't think I'll return for happy hour as I just wasn't impressed with the food. Might return for dinner for a special occasion.

I saw Elk Medallions on the menu (I love elk) and came here for a work dinner. The restaurant felt like walking into an old time saloon...wood paneling and detailing everywhere. Loved it!Service was great, we had a few waiting on us and they all seemed very knowledgeable. I got the Elk Medallions...I must not have paid attention to the menu because the portions felt more like Elk Strips. While I was disappointed in the portion size they were cooked and seasoned well. The food is good, but I have other streak houses I'd rank higher. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'll use the 8lbs of elk hamburger in my freezer to satisfy my elk craving next time. 3 stars is a little above average...for me that fits.

For our brother's weekend, we booked a reservation at the Stockyards restaurant in Tempe! It was over the top.The service was incredible; two servers took care of us for our table of 10. And the entire inside was built like an old Western movie. The walls were covered with unbelievable artifacts and pictures of what it used to look like out in the West. As for the food... It was incredible! I saved a ton of room throughout the day by not eating and saved up for this meal. Totally worth it! I ended up getting the clam chowder, a side salad, a side of mushrooms, and some scallops with a medley of veggies. After all, I ended up getting the cheesecake, which was to die for, and a two-thumbs-up meal.Overall experience: 9.7Scallops: 9.6Mushrooms: 9.1Chowder: 9.3Cheesecake: 9.4Scale system 10/10 would be what I want for my last meal9.9-9.3 driving out of my way to get this9.2-8.0 like the place and would go back 7.9-7.0 I would come here again if it were presented and don't have anything bad to say6.9 and below - thanks but no thanks after trying once

Absolutely amazing! The service, the food, the atmosphere! Everthing! Chris I believe his name was our server, he was amazing! Everyone was so welcoming and just amazing. We arrived 10 min late because of traffic and they kept our table waiting. Such a magical night. I think might be our new anniversary spot! We WILL be back!!
